Asmadai had been sitting in the library and poring over the same book for a good hour and a half. He was good at that, sitting in one place and reading the same chapter over and over and over. His bookmark was, currently, a neatly folded envelope- having no idea who this card was to, he'd simply written 'best wishes' in it. No, he was not a particularly creative priest. That was, in fact, his excuse for the utterly uninspired 'note'.

He sighed and turned the page. If he didn't spend all his time in the library anyway, he might have been getting a little annoyed. Wasn't it supposed to be here?...

User Image Oh my...just what should I do...?
It seems that this time Hyo really had dug his own grave. But...but it would be really impolite to decline participation in an organization-wide event... So he applied, not knowing exactly what all this was about...
And now he knew.
And he had a feeling that he's going to die from embarrassment.
So it appears that he's been paired up randomly with another member, and...and...they were supposed to give each other...'symbols of love'.
At that thought Hyo's blush got even deeper. Just how can he give a 'symbol of love' to somehow he doesn't love...?
And the fact that he had no idea who is going to receive his gift...it made it even worse.
If he only knew, he could've look around for that person, find something that would match him... But now... he could only guess.
He was having a slight hope that he'd be paired with Abel. Abel, he knew how to treat (somewhat), and being in such a situation with him could be bearable... Or...or the Kind Spirit, oh, if he could only give a symbol of his adoration to Raai... His thoughts drifted away, leaving him with a sheepish grin. But he quickly got hold of himself. This wasn't the time or place for this.

He decided that the best way would be to present something that he wouldn't be ashamed (too much) to present to Abel. He had a feeling that if he used the Kind Spirit as a scale, he might get WAY overboard.
So he spent a few hours in the garden, between the blooming trees, looking for a perfect branch with an ideal amount of flowers. When he finally found it, he cut it carefully, not too big, not too small, and took it to his room for decoration.

Flowers don't need much extra accessories, that's what he was taught. If presented correctly, they didn't need much work at all.
But observing the pictures in the library scrolls, he decided to add a little detail to it, in form of a delicate, white silk ribbon. He draped it on the branch in a presentable way, and then proceeded to the last part.
He took a piece of parchment, and cut it to a form of a message ticket. It wasn't exactly what he was used to, but this would work...
On the one side, he painted an ink miniature - a bit generic one, but still with a message matching the occasion - a pair of small birds sitting on a blooming tree. And when the ink dried, on the other side he added a short poem in korean - also nothing too deep into the area of love, he didn't want his partner to get any wrong ideas, but enough to show that he had positive feelings. Then he attached it to the ribbon, and finally it was ready.
And just in time to go to the meeting place. Welllll... Even a bit over that time, to be honest.

..hopefully he won't be too annoyed with me...
Hyo hurried as much as the manners allowed him, finally arriving in the library - the place of the meeting - a good half-hour late.
Please make him not be annoyed...
He peeked inside, and saw someone. Probably the person he was supposed to meet...
...and that person...was...very...shiny...
The pale skin, the golden hair, yes, they weren't that new to him since he arrived at LOTUS, but now he was going to talk with such a person...face-to-face...
As quietly as he only could, he entered the room, and moved towards that person, trying to position himself in such a way that he won't be seen. Oh, if he looked at him right now, he would certainly die...
He stopped behind that person, and carefully, carefully, still trying to be unseen, placed the decorated branch on the table next to that person, and quickly turned around, so that only his back would be seen. And yet he had to cover his face with his sleeve, his blush was so deep. This was too much, too much... His whole body was shaking with fear, and a feeling that he just did something that he really, really shouldn't have done.
And yet, he could only wait for that person to notice him...

Asmadai was indeed very not annoyed; in fact, he was still re-reading a page on the Black Ships. Since his trip to Japan, he'd been... fascinated, he supposed was the right term, with how a country could end up that way. So crowded, with a side as bright as day and an underbelly seedier than... than... well, a loaf of sesame bread. Rome hadn't changed that much, not that he'd noticed. It had seemed, though, that Japan had been torn apart. With a sigh, he sat up straight and closed the book. He could return to that part of the book later, he supposed. Fascinating, yes, but sometimes even the most devoted of slouching bookworms got an ache between their shoulder blades.

He looked a little to his left and couldn't stop a quiet "ah!" that, pathetically, passed for an expression of shock with the priest. Asmadai found himself facing a young lady with long black hair, if the dress was any inclination towards the person's gender. And, right next to his hand, was a branch of barely-blooming flowers and leaves with a white ribbon twined through it.

Now, the priest didn't know much, but he did know that this lady had far outclassed him in effort on this. "Miss," he said, tentatively putting a hand on her shoulder, "Happy Valentine's day," and he pulled out the envelope and held it out to her.

User Image Judging from the surprised 'ah' that he heard, the shining man must've noticed the gift prepared for him.
...he didn't do too much...did he...?
If the shiny person somehow shows that he went overboard, Hyo is going to die from embarassment.

And then he said something to him.
Judging from the engrish he had learned so far, 'miss' was a way of addressing himself. As hor the second part, he heard it - it had something to do with the name of this event.
When he was handed theneatly folded piece of parchment, Hyo quickly lowered his hands in front of him, even though he was shill blushing, and took it with a bow in hope that this position would hide the shameful color of his face. he looked at the little creation curiously - it seemed to be some sort of a handmade paper decoration, how creative! With a tip of his finger, having a surprised, happy smile on his face, the boy followed the folding of the parchment slowly. It was so nice, and so pretty to look at! Hyo raised his eyes at the gift giver, still smiling (and still blushing, though he kinda forgot about it right now), and bowed once again. "Saaank yuu." He said. "Much pritii."
He was going to treasure this lovely paper sculpture, that's for sure.
