I've been thinking about making a kosher-recipes thread, for anyone who'd interested, but I've got to know one thing first. How many of you keep kosher? If there aren't that many, maybe this could just be a Jewish food thread for discussing and sharing recipes.

Angsty Shem *doesn't eat pork, as there are healthier meats* Same here. ^^ I don't eat any kind of pork, as it repulses me with it's fat content and it's greasiness. confused I'd say I'm about 90% kosher these days. There's occassions where I've neglected to look at a label, and there was a time or two in high school when me and my friend Elijah would go have a secret bacon-egg-and-cheese Croissanwich at Burger King xp

I have to say I don't follow all that strictly, but I do my best (and i'll never intentionally eat pig stuffs if I am going unkosher). We eat a lot of yummo veggo or fish stuff at home anyway. Though, I cannot go with my Sunday BBQ--I luvs steak (kosher of course).. However, when i'm in Syd the meat is far away. Once a non-Jooish friend actually got some for me (she offered cos she's close to all those places).. So I was mostly veggo for my first yr at uni.. Will be more carnivorous this year (now that I am not living on a campus with 2 fridges for 39ppl)! sweatdrop
Sounds like an awesome plan Jyu!! smile Will be helpful!!
EDIT: My most broken rule is mixing milk and meat... I think?! Oh and I am a hypocrite, you can't steal my maccas fries from me sad .. And I'd say I'm about 70% kosher...

Love fish. Love it, love it, love it.
But I also love catfish, which means I can never be kosher. xp

Just a bit of a b***h session.. I once had a friend tell me in a hostile kinda way (on her birthday, so I didn't feel right to react) that I liked making problems (referring to me wanting a veggo dish).. Gosh! That's all I wanted! Not too much to ask, after all we were paying for it collectively (this was at a Vietnamese restaraunt). Anyways, no one else was complaining about having a veggo dish, in fact there were other requests for something veggo.. That really suprised me actually gonk

My brother, in fact, has a severe allergy to any freshwater fish. Has to do with the iodine content, or something. Thus my family never, ever eats fish, unless we want to take him immediately to the hospital. xp

Well, first off, I'm newly converted.
Second, I'm half hispanic (raised Catholic Mexican-American).
So needless to say, it's been a gradual process in the whole kosher thing.
Thankfully, being around Kao has changed my eating habits (I no longer eat red meat, esp. pork), though it is rough seeing as I have been going through Sausage McGriddle withdrawl. redface
I agree on the whole "pork is gross as hell" (when I'm not craving a McGriddle).
I usually just eat chicken and fish when it comes to meats.
Keeping kosher is pretty tough in this day and age, though I try. sweatdrop

Well, this is surprising. I actually kind of thought most people would be pretty much unkosher- it’s great to see that at least some steps are being taken. I myself never mix milk and meat, and lately I’ve only been eating unkosher meat if I’ve gone two or more weeks with little or no meat. I absolutely adore fish to no end. When I get home, I’ll start posting some recipes- hopefully y’all will have some too heart
Oh, ps- catfish? gonk

Well I eat kosher meat, fish etc but we don't have seperate plates for milk and meat dishes. So we don't really follow the milk and meat rule. redface

My Dad converted when I was in 6th grade. My house has never been one for keeping kosher. He still sneaks barbeque pork into the house. xp
I can say I was completely kosher for 5 1/2 weeks, once. I was with Young Judea in Isreal. XD All our meals were either dairy or meat, food was specially prepared, they even had us do brachot.
I'm not really religious, so it was a new experience for me. >>;

I'm 18, normally 16 year olds go. I was possibly the oldest person on the trip, except for one guy in Machon 1, I think. Soooo much propoganda.
