Changes were bound to happen in any life, and that was no exception with Schatze. The wolf slid through underbrush and leaf litter silently, humming inaudibly to herself.

As a pup she had been stolen away from her human family. As a teen she had run away, fallen in with a mysterious stranger, and joined a pack.

Now, she too was a mystery. She had grown into adulthood, finally, and another aspect of change was how sleek she found herself now. They had kept her fattened up well enough in her old pack. Not that she was starving now - she ate what she pleased, when she pleased because she didn't have to rely on anyone. She checked in with her new pack as often as necessary, but now her purpose was two-fold.

She missed the stranger.

While most of the time, the she-wolf didn't care what others thought about her attitude or appearance, she now found herself in a bit of a rush to get home. Jaeger would hopefully be waiting for her. With this thought, her hum shifted to singing as she drew nearer to the pack lands-

Starlight
Sunbird
The music inside us all
Touches everyone
Everyone, listen for the call

Sunbird is enough just being
Fulfilled in its own existence
Can't we let it be
Why can't we just be
And let the time of spring to fall not be a distance

Reborn
New dawn
Brings on another day
I'm no older now than yesterday
And I'm on my way

It had been a bit while since he had last seen her, the one girl who he had brought into the pack under Aguta. Sunbird was most definitely out and about, older and with stories to tell. Stryder had been on the prowl, scouting against possible dangers to the pack and for other possible pack members.

Packlands were littered with snow and murmurs of dark and other packs littered his ears. Hopefully she was safe... Stryder didn't really understand why he felt that strange longing to see her once again. It would be nice to see her and hear the stories she may have.

Pause. There was a flutter of sound as the leaves moved a ways away. Stryder laid low, ears back as if to bare them naked to the air. His eyes peered under the cloak and he tugged just a little at the wrappings around his paws. Who was there? Maybe it wasn't anything substantial. This was a bad location, even if he was on the border of the Tomkin lands. He was downwind and he was sure that if this possible intruder was real, he'd be found soon if not already. Moving back, he made sure that he had at least one side covered in case of attack.

Just laying in wait, however, caused his thoughts to return to the she-wolf. Hoping she would return soon.

And I'm on my way... Her song faltered, tapering off on those last words. There was another wolf nearby, a familiar one. The smile invaded her face, dragging her lips back into a foreign smile. It had been her last visit on pack lands when she last found reason to smile, after all.

"Hei?" she threw out. Hello was the meaning behind it, but she didn't see need to clarify. She was almost certain of who was lurking just past her line of sight.

She, too, paused. The she-wolf would let him come to her, to see how she had grown. She had a weathered look about her now, thin but not starving, though there was a more than ample amount of muscle packed away under her tight skin. She tossed her head slightly, ruffling the mane that grew down her neck and back, and took a neutral pose, waiting.

"Johtua tähän." Come here. She spoke a strange language, one she had picked up bits and pieces of from a more native, savage looking group of humans she had encountered and found fit to sneak around and learn about. For now, she lived nestled in the back of her own mind, where she spoke broken languages to herself all day. Home and family would break her of that, and she would speak the language of wolves once again. At least until next time.

Stryder noticed the halt in motion of the scent he picked up. So unfortunately they knew of his presence? He stretched his claws, the sharp weapons of his body.

He heard the strange call out. And the others that followed. This one must've followed. He let his snout take in the scent, tried to decipher who it was. Listening to the voice, trying to detect any familiarity.

It was there. Stryder was certain of it. Underneath the filth and the musk, underneath the smell of the foreign lands, it was her. It was the young she-wolf. Sunbird..

Stryder moved towards the sound and spotted the ruffed mane that he knew was hers. With the smallest hint of lifting his muzzled lips, he nodded his hooded head at her in greeting.

"H'lo... Sunbird. You speak strangely." Stryder thought it was a sign of just how long and far she had been away.

He moved close to her, stopping his paws right in front of her. This time, he would let her decide what she would do

Schatze stood silently now, taking stock of the male's actions. Yep, same old Stryder. While the smile had disappeared from her face, it easily remained in her heart. She recognized her own language, knew it for what he meant, and began her own tale of how she came to speak so differently.

And stopped, and started, and finally gave up momentarily. She knew he wouldn't understand her new language, but she had been speaking it so long that it was hard to deviate from it.

Finally, the words came cleanly, in their shared language. "Jaeger." she began, pausing for the slightest moment. She had meant to say much more, but she had almost become a wolf of few words, and strange words at that.

Finally, she shook herself, fluffed up her fur and pounced forward, playfully nipping at the he-wolf. The wanderer let loose a series of barks and yips, before turning full circle and darting off - only looking back to make sure he would follow.

Stryder couldn't fault her, not having been around others for so long. So he was content to lift the lips of his muzzle up a little higher as he heard his name, his alias. He couldn't help the... pup-like feeling of joy. Of anything, she could say his name!

He peered around, wondering if maybe Wraith was around. His eyes caught her movements, jumping before she could even playing n** at his fur.

"Sunbird!" He yelped, chasing after her with a grin, tail a-wagging. He slowed momentarily to see if there were any others he missed, and went back on track.

Stryder caught up and playfully clawed at her mane with his right paw, the leather piece around his neck swinging in the air.

Aaaahhhhh. It felt so good to run and stretch her muscles, and even better to be running with such a close friend. She smiled wide as she heard her alias called out, the word chasing her down just as fast as the wolf who yelped it.

As he caught up, she slowed and halted, moving aside a bit so that he wouldn't have to wheel away to avoid hitting her. "It's good to be home." she grinned amicably, sitting herself down for a rest.

She wondered briefly if there were any younglings in the pack for her to tell stories to - though she would tell stories to almost anyone who would listen. At this thought, her eyes glittered and danced, full of the mysteries of all she had witnessed.

"Are there any new members with us now?" She asked, her eyes catching on the pendant around his neck. She had noticed it before, when they had first met, but it had never been extraordinarily interesting to her until now, because now she had seen more like it amongst the humans of this land. She would save questions about that for later, though.

Stryder was content just listening to Sunbird speak. Her voice both calmed him and excited him for some reason. He grinned at her, taking her adorning tail beads and all. "It's good to see you again."

He peered around still alert, on the look out as they ran closer to the heart of the pack territory. "I know Wraith has welcomed others into the pack, but I have not actually met them."

Stryder still didn't like to speak much, the muzzle still hampering his speech. He wanted to ask her if she had stories to tell. Where was she? Did she find the two legger whom she told him of? Maybe those type of things could be saved. He was still a little tired of speech.

She wondered briefly if she should play 'hard to get'. She really had quite the thing for Stryder, and was more than certain he had a thing for her... but she could play dumb easily, and pondered now on if she should or not. Humans did it all the time, she had witnessed... the results seemed to be mixed.

With a mental furrowing of her brow, the she-wolf put on a very charming smile for the male. "I missed you a good deal." she spoke, after he admitted it was good to see her. She pawed the ground absentmindedly, the smile plastered to her face. Now it was quieter, unassuming, and just sat there like a ghost of emotion. She wondered if he would pick up on subtle things, or if he, like human males, seemed to be a bit lacking in that department.

Oh what fun! she thought to herself, having a good time of talking to herself and trying to guess what would come of her actions. "Mmm, newcomers." she answered, pausing to add, "Possibly we could meet them... together?" she put emphasis on the last word, to see if he would make as much of it as she meant him to.

Hmmph. His short sentences and to the point conversation shifted her attention to the male's muzzle. It was possible that she could work it loose from his head, having seen the same sort of thing fitted to dogs', and captive wolves', heads in human settlements. Would he even want to lose the muzzle? Did it mean something to him? Maybe she could bring it up at a later date. Right now, she had bigger, more emotional fish to fry.

Stryder's tail wagged in the air and his ears twitched. He couldn't help but feel so warm and happy when she smiled at him. He didn't know why though. He rarely had good interactions, if any, with other wolves let alone good interactions with a female wolf. In fact, Stryder thought that the one other interaction with a female was Venda...

Stryder cocked his head to the side, curious as to what Sunbird was doing. He hadn't a clue but maybe.... No he didn't know at all. Together? Of course they'd be together. They were together now weren't they?

Stryder pawed a bit at the dirt where her paw was. He skirted around her before nudging her shoulder and then rubbing his head against her maned fur before jumping back. He barked, "Together? What do you mean?"

Oops. She had completely missed the last thing he had asked her, she had been concentrating on the muzzle that halfway trapped Stryder's jaws shut.

Here goes... something. She thought to herself as she moved forwards, rubbing her muzzle alongside his own. "I could remove this for you, if... " she faltered, suddenly nervous that he would take offense to her offer.

But she didn't move, the she wolf just stood there, her muzzle still pressed side-by-side with his. She would let him make the next move, for now.

((Ne stormy FYI icly Stryder's muzzle won't come off. It.. is magic?? XD The villagers couldn't XD))

Stryder paused, his heart almost stopped. She was so.. so close. Why was he like this? He could smell her. She was so beautiful... beautiful... that worked. She was beautiful.

He nuzzled her muzzle back, tail wagging. The tail slowed as Stryder gazed at her with unseeing eyes thinking of the villagers. "Like you I had met two-leggers who saved me from unkind ones. They... could not take it off. You could try, if you want."

He didn't want to discourage her, inwardly knowing that he would always wear the strange contraption but he was fine with the idea. On a whimsical urge, one he could not explain he leaned forward toward her and nuzzled her and tried to lick her face once or twice, as much as the muzzle could allow just the tip of his tongue to.

Hmm. The she wolf sighed heavily, returning his gentle lick. "That's sad, love." But he got by just fine. He was healthier looking at the moment than she was, and he could only catch and eat small game.

It wasn't like her to give up, but she was certain that if two-leggers couldn't remove what looked like their own contraption, it wasn't wise to go tampering with it herself.

"For now, we should find Wraith and welcome the new members of the pack." it was strange saying this, since she had been gone from the pack for so long, but at least she was fulfilling her role in pack dynamics - she had a few stories to tell now, and was especially interested in the prospect that there may be younglings soon to tell her travels to.

She smiled at him and backed away, waiting patiently for him to lead her back through the borders and onto Wraith's wonderful lands.

Stryder couldn't help the foolish grin that pulled at his lips, hidden partially by the muzzle. He leaned into Sunbird, basking in the overwhelming... joy that he felt. His tail wagged in the air, swaying gently.

He nuzzled her, feeling she might be thinking of his care. He was well enough on meat since he was freed to speak more or less unhindered. But he was inwardly very happy, she worried for him, like had for her.

"S'fine, that sounds good Sunbird," He replied. He peered back, he hadn't met any of the other members of the pack. It was high time he did.

He trotted to lead her, tail wagging, but still on the alert. He smiled and teased, "And maybe we can get some food into you."

Stryder, nay Jaeger, was quite sure of it. Things were sure looking up, and meeting his alpha again with Sunbird at his side was definitely an up.
