Min'hyvair sighed deeply, looking over the fast dwindling supplies in her private lab. Normally she wouldn't have run out of supplies this soon, but the Matron and her Aunt O'phranaylia had been demanding more and more out of her and had kept her working for long hours for the past week. It was as if they couldn't get enough of the poisons and other odd potions that Min'hyvair had learned to make so far.

She was getting rather tired of staring at herbs and animal parts for days on end. It was about time for her to get out of the House and go buy some more supplies. Though...that sort of endeavor was always more of a hassle than staying indoors. The Matron mother had made it quite clear that she was to inform the Weapons' Master whenever she needed to go out so that he could assign guards to go with her.

It wasn't that she didn't see the propriety of it or the logic behind the need of guards in Llurth Dreir, but it wasn't as if she couldn't protect herself. Not to mention the fact that she hated being surrounded by brutes that towered over her. Her shortness was a constant disparagement for her. And the guards always accented her shortness and made it stand out even more. It was NOT how she wanted to be seen by the other inhabitants of Llurth Dreir.

"I could always sneak out, it's not like anyone ever pays any mind to me." She said outloud, a rather bemused smirk on her face.
Her mind made up, she cleaned herself up. She pulled off the apron she wore over her long flowing skirt and corset, and hung it up on the peg by the door. She washed her hands thoroughly in the small sink, dried them on a towel and then brushed her hands through her long hair until it shone. Then she pulled her silvery shawl over her shoulders, gathered it in the middle and then closed the spider broach over it, so it wouldn't fall off. She paused at the door, looking herself over in the mirror hanging on the back of it.
"That should do." She said with a slight smile.
Then she slipped from her lab, and over into her private quarters where she attached her daggers to her legs, and her right forearm. Then she gathered up half of the weekly allowance that the Matron allotted her and slipped from her room.

She walked down the hallways of the great House, making sure to keep to the shadows so none of her sisters or servants might spot her. She was almost all the way to the front door, when Ka'da strode past her causing her straight for the door, muttering madly under his breath. She pulled back into the shadows, her heart thundering in her chest as she watched him storm out of the House. After he had gone, she silently crept forward and slipped out of the House, closing the door softly behind her.

"I wonder what that was all about." She mused, as she quickly walked through the streets towards the marketplace.
Llurth Dreir was a city where one didn't linger in any area or you would be met with an attempted abduction, rape or murder. Of course, while Min'hyvair considered the possibilities of such things happening to her, she knew that such a thing wouldn't happen. Not when everyone knew her by sight, and the fact that she carried quite a potent vial of fast acting acid with her at all times. It was enough of a threat to any drow that they would steer clear of her if they should see the tell tale sign of her glimmering shawl come into sight.

Drathir had spent part of her day practicing her control over her elemental powers of the earth. Though she was forced to take some breaks when her lady needed something. Being the head servant to the eldest daughter of the second house of Llurth Dreir was demanding. Though lately her lady had taken to herself more, for reasons she suspected but would never dare utter. Her lady had asked for a few odd things from the market. Drathir did not like other servants doing things for her lady.

It was a rather odd thing, for a servant to be blind. Though she could see, though never let on to most that she could. Some would put it off that she memorized her way around though, she had her ways. Her bare feet lead her out of the house and down towards the market. The one thing of her 'sight' was that some drow were to light on their feet for her to properly see them. So going into crowds she had to be extra careful.

Drathir generally tried to keep to herself, though from her lady she had heard of most drow to know of when she was out. Must upkeep a good look for her lady's house, that was indeed most important to her.

Min'hyvair quietly and slowly made her way through the streets, being careful to avoid any sludge and dredge that was splattered in her pathway.
One of the reason's why she normally stayed indoors was also because she tended to be a big germaphobe. Even if she got only a slight amount of slime or sludge on her shoes or clothing it was the end of the world to her. She'd have to rid herself of her clothing, and scour her body until it was nearly raw.

She had been trying to get over this phobia, but hadn't really made too much progress on her own. She planned on someday getting a mage or priestess to hypnotize her out of her obsessive compulsive disorder so she wouldn't be held back by it. Of course, that could only happen if she could actually finish her training and get some jobs outside of the house. At the moment...all the poisons she created had been confiscated by the Matron for her own uses. Which was something that aggravated her the most.

Her footsteps were nearly silent as she finally neared the marketplace. Only another twenty feet and she would have made it. Though..it wouldn't be the end of her quest, it was a big deal for Min'hyvair. She hadn't gone this far on her own in...years. Just that thought made her shake her head in disbelief. She hadn't realized how cloistered her life had become after the incident in the training arena years before. Most times she wished it had never happened and the Matron had never discovered her training with Ka'da.

She missed being able to learn from him. She knew her sisters, aunt, and Matron would have beat her if they knew she was once more thinking about him. Such was forbidden...for a daughter. A daughter was to be strong, reliant, and never ever lower herself in a male's eyes. Or treat a male in a favorable manner.

That was one thing that riled Min'hyvair the most. If she had actually known the rules..she probably would have followed them. But her sisters had purposely failed at teaching her anything that mattered. Instead they had let her have free reign and hadn't shown her any interest...until one of them discovered that Ka'da had taken an interest in training her to fight. Then all hell had broken loose. Min shook her head, trying to get rid of the thoughts that plagued her. It was better not thinking about it. There really wasn't anything that she could do now to fix it for either her or Ka'da.

Having walked out of the labyrinth-like house, which was that of her lady, Drathir made her way down to the market. Most recently the lady's mother had passed away, most called it off as normal and did not suspect a thing. Knowing what really happened she stayed quiet, being loyal to only her lady, the one that took her in. Not long after the take over, her lady had become heavy with child, or children really. On top of that her lady was thinking of taking a Patron, the father of her new twins.

The twins, which is what has lead Drathir to the market this day. Never would she say this out loud but the twins were brats, spoiled, and they were not very old at all! They've destroyed many of the toys the house had, so here she was going out to find some sort of entertainment for the two. Most of the destruction was brought on by the boy. He seemed inseparable from his sister and would one day have to learn his place.

Drathir now neared the market, being broke from her thoughts by the steps of many people. The market was one of he busiest places and had a distinct trace to what she could feel. She had to tread lightly here, to not bump into another.

Min'hyvair entered the marketplace, feeling rather out of place, not to mention rather shocked by how loud it was. She jumped slightly when someone brushed against her and huddled in fright near one of the vendor's tents. It took her several moments to lower her blood pressure and get her breathing back to normal.

She hadn't thought it would be this bad, or as strange in the marketplace. Perhaps she shouldn't have come on her own. She was beginning to get slightly paranoid by the crowds of drow mingling near her. Her eyes darted around warily, never coming to a stop or resting for very long on one individual.

She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, almost choking on the smell permeating the close quarters in the marketplace. Every scent was mingling..becoming overwhelming to her senses. Perfumes, colognes, flowery smells, leather, burning incense, cooking foods, sweaty bodies, and gutter sewage being tracked in on people's shoes began to waft into her nostrils. It was all too much for her.

Her hands reached up, brushing her long hair out of her face and then clasped a hand over her mouth and nose and began to breath in the scent of her hand. The slightly soapy smell helped sift out the other smells wafting through the marketplace. Within a few moments...she was able to breath much better, and not notice the other smells as much as before.

She had forgotten how the Marketplace was a hodgepodge of smells and unwanted attention. Hopefully she would remember this the next time she emerged from the House. This thought going through her head, Min pulled her shawl up and over her face, to keep the smoky incense and other smells from overcoming her again and approached a tent that appeared to carry the ingredients that she would have need of to create her potions.

This market was always a hassle. The female stepped lightly as she entered into the market. Other's always eyed her, yes she was blind but she could feel their eyes on her. Those who knew who she served knew to watch out, her Mistress's house was not one to be upset.

Drathir made her way down the shops. She had memoried which shops were where. Plus each had a unique smell of what their wears were.

Having picked up some toys for her lady's children. They were such a handful really. Now she had to pick up some stuff for other's including herself.

The Matron's younger sister was in need of some supplies. Already going out, she offered to pick them up. Drathir did serve the entire family, even if she was the Matron's personal servant.

Her bare feet took her to the correct tent that carried the ingredients that the young poisoner would need.

Min'hyvair slid into the tent and carefully looked over the wares spread out on the tables inside. The familiar scents in the small tent wafted over her, causing her nerves to unwind and her muscles to loosen up.
She perused the tables for a few moments before the tent owner came over to wait on her.

She pointed out the items she wanted, whispering in a low tone how much of each herb and powder she wanted. The owner gathered up the items, bagged them all individually and named a price to her. Min pulled out her purse and slid out several gold coins and one platinum and handed them over. Then she took the bag he offered and slowly made her way to the entrance of the tent not really paying to what was going on around her as she tried to keep from letting the sounds and smells from overwhelming her yet again.

Drathir had picked up everything that her Matron had wanted. She had also gotten everything that the Matron's younger sister had wanted, well minus one item. The servant made her way towards a tent she knew that would carry it.

There were so many people in the market today, almost to many for her liking. It wasn't bad 'seeing' for her normally. Though the amount was making it hard for her. Having recognized the scent of the tent she was looking for, she closed in the steps it would take for her to reach it. Bad for her, she couldn't 'see' the female coming out the tent (her footsteps were so light) and was about to walk right into her.

Min'hyvair smiled softly to herself as she made her way out of the tent, rather glad of the fact that no attempts had been made on her person. She rather hated when she had to contend with grabby hands not to mention the lurid males that would brush up against her just because they could. The thought of such males made her pause in her walk and shudder.

When she finally did look up to watch where she was going, it was too late for her to avoid the female drow striding purposely towards the tent she had just emerged from. With a rather startled yelp, Min collided with the other female and fell back onto her backside with a resounding thump, her bag falling out of her hands and onto the ground behind her.
And even more unfortunately, the female she bumped into ended up on top of her, pressing the air out of Min'hyvair's lungs.

When Min finally got her breath back, she managed to ask in a breathless tone. "I am soo sorry, are you alright? I didn't see you there, it's entirely my fault."

Drathir normally was fine with walking in crowded places, it had been many months since she had ran into anyone. Sadly she had seen the female to late and feel right on top of her. "It is I who am sorry mistress." She stood up reaching a hand out towards the female she had knocked over. There was something about her, someone of slight importance perhaps?

"It is I who didn't see you." One hand was still reached out to help the other female up. Her other hand waved infront of her own white eyes, to show their sightless ness. "I am very, truly sorry. It's just that your steps are so light, I couldn't see them." Drathir stopped, well now she'd probably end up explaining what she meant by that. Most thought she useless since she was blind but most didn't know the power she held.

When Min'hyvair got a better look at the other female she realized why the other was showing deference. The female was a servant, but unlike most drow, Min'hyvair wasn't the uppity arrogant aristocrat who treated servants like chattel. Min took the offered hand and managed to get to her feet with the other's help.

"Ah..well the blame falls on both of us then. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I might as well have been blind...it still would have happened." Min'hyvar replied, rather intrigued by the last bit the other had said.
"See my footsteps? How would you be able to do that?"

Min'hyvair suddenly remembered her bag of supplies and turned around to search for it. "Oh no!" She cried, seeing the scattered herbs and powders being tread into the ground by the passing by crowd.

"STOP IT!" She cried in vain, and tried to gather up what she could of her ruined supplies. In the end...she had barely enough in the bag in which to return home with.
"Well..this bites." She murmured in dismay, blowing her hair out of her face. "I guess I'll have to go buy some more supplies."

She could feel the female looking at her, being blind one gets a better sense of that. Drathir was slightly surprised that the other was so nice. Her own mistress was good to her, both others saw to just use her for well, her serving.

Her head nodded. From the blind comment, the other did not notice that she was blind herself. Comments on the subject never made her uncomfortable, she had been blind her entire life, she was use to it.

Before she could answer the female, the yelling of the other caught her ear. Drathir had also forgotten about the supplies that spilt onto the ground. She would have helped but was to slow, she couldn't see the small items that well.

"I am sorry Mistress but I do insist it was my fault. Please allow me to purchase what you need as well, I have things that my lady needs from here anyway." She thought for a moment. "And for the 'seeing' I was born blind. Though Lloth must have smiled on me for she granted me magic of the earth. In short, I can see from the vibrations others give off."

"Which is why I didn't see you, your light steps. And I insist, my lady wouldn't mind me purchasing things for you." Normally, she wouldn't of done that for most, but this female seemed of importance. "I represent my lady's house and I must be sure to not sully her house at all."

Min'hyvair finally did notice the strange hue of the other's eyes..and finally deduced that the servant was indeed blind. Min shook her head at her having missed that, she really need to work on being more observant. Her Matron was constantly telling her that she needed to work on that..and she had just proven her Matron correct. Damn!

She held her half ruined supplies and looked up at the other as she spoke. "Ah..well if you insist. Who is your Mistress if I might ask?" Min asked, pushing some loose strands of hair behind her left ear as she got back to her feet. "That is quite a gift you have...quite an interesting one as well. " She added, rather intrigued by the servant.

"I'll have to look through my things to see what I need replacing..its possible the damage isn't as bad as it looks. Looks can be deceiving after all." Min replied with a slight smile, and made her way back into the tent, making sure to step a little harder this time.

Drathir didn't like to tell most about her eyes. She wasn't out of the house much and everyone there knew. Besides, she was usually good about marketplaces though today had been a different case. Now she just needed to convince the other to let her pay.

"I do insist, she won't mind." She waited for the female to stand back up to see what would need to be replaced. "I am Drathir, and I serve my lady the Matron Burryna, of the House De'Rretep, second house of the city." Actually Drathir was her ladies most trusted servant. "Thank you, I am quite fortunate to have such a gift."

She grinned at the other's wording. "Yes, they can. Just get what you need, I have a few things to buy here for my lady's sister. As well as some other things at another shop."

Min'hyvair was already digging through her wares to check them over. As Fortune would have it, the vials she had purchased had been broken to smithereens leaving the rest of the items beyond use. One whiff of the mingled scents almost had Min reeling.

"Interesting.." She mused over the mixture. "I wonder." And with that, Min'hyvair pulled out a small notebook from inside the pouch, dried it off as best as she could and started jotting down everything that the bag had contained.

She almost didn't hear the other's words..until there was mention of a Matron Burryna and then Min's jaw dropped as she stared in stunned silence at the other. She mouthed words but nothing came out for several moments...until finally Min took a deep breath and released it slowly trying to get over her sudden onslaught of nerves.

"Matron Burryna you say? Well..that is quite an honor for you. I suppose I should introduce myself as well. I am Min'hyvair, second daughter of Matron D'Shadrea of the House Ja'lithur, 16th or 17th House of the city..I really don't remember." Min spoke, licking her lips to keep them from drying out.

"You are most gracious, Drathir. I shall recall this. If your Matron ever needs the services of a poisoner..I shall be pleased to offer her my services. And..it appears that the vials broke rendering all my supplies unusable for the purposes I purchased them for."
