- --— THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO LOOK-ALIKE ITEMS WITH A DRASTIC PRICE DIFFERENCE - --—
Every female who's ever been the least bit familiar with the typical contents of women's fashion/beauty magazines probably recognizes the phrase "Splurge vs. Steal" in reference to the magazine column that appears without fail. Also known as "Steep or Cheap?", "Spend or Save?", & countless other variations on the same concept. To quote the infamous Cosmopolitan magazine: "The items on this page look pricey, but one per pair is a major bargain." Just like all of those pages you've probably skipped through in magazines [if you're female, that is], this guide shows you some of the priciest items on Gaia, & then items that look incredibly similar to the pricey items, but are many, many times cheaper! With some of these item comparisons, the difference between them is barely recognizable... except in the hundreds of thousands of gold cost difference!
What inspired me to create this guide? Well... a few weeks ago, I realized it had taken me about two years on Gaia to be able to recognize a Devil Tail from the "Dark Tail" option of a Dark Halo [& probably a least a year before I even knew that a Dark Halo had a "dark tail" option]. Yet... the price of a Devil Tail is 130 times more than the price of a Dark Halo. Since then, I've been on the lookout for cheap [or, much cheaper ] look-a-likes of notoriously expensive, lusted after items... & I've found quite a bunch!
This guide does not aim to achieve a goal similar to the one the "ghosting" phenomenon did [major props if you even remember "ghosting" or know what it was]. If your aim is purely to wear millions of gold on your digital, 2D sleeve to impress all the 2003 & 2004 users, or some similar nonsense, this guide will do you little good. The purpose of this guide is to share with you items that are really pricey, & items that look very similar to those really pricey items, but cost so, so much less. Just like I believe it's totally ridiculous to buy... say... a $3,500 Prada purse if you have the option of buying a $19.99 purse at TJ Maxx that looks almost exactly like the Prada purse, I believe it's totally ridiculous to spend millions & millions of gold on an item if a look-a-like version of that item will suffice.
