So, as everyone knows, there is apparently an invisible war going on between the GCD and the GD. I've been on the side with a C since I joined the site.
I've done my fair share of badmouthing the GD whenever a topic about them comes up. "Cess Pool of Gaia," "4chan wannabes," "Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy," etc.
Still, every once in a while, I get curious about life on the other side, and I'll cautiously poke my head into their forum for a few minutes. This always ends in tears.
I come in, try desperately to find a topic that isn't about sex or racism, report a few hundred threads, then give up.
Today, however, my mind was totally blown as I found quite a few topics that were ACTUALLY light discussion and debate threads. After grappling with my pride for a few minutes (Yes, its true, GCDers really are stuck up and think we're better), I even posted a few times. Sure, I also reported about as many threads as I posted in, but all in all, it was a fairly enjoyable experience, and a nice change of pace.
Weird.

The forums have been changing, Boss. It's not just the GD either.
The ED went through a long bout of morons coming into the threads and it turning into a flame war, but it appears intelligence has once again begun to reign [Thank the Gods].
The Chatterbox is still a mess, but it feels like for every annoying thread, there is a nice one now. It's not just a bump for gold or be a pervert place.
The GCD seems to have more discussion now, rather than the old "post and leave" attitude.
Even Barton Town seems to be improving lately. The threads marked, "literate", are actually literate! They use to have a bunch of noobs using that term and you'd go in to see one lined grammar nightmares!
The scariest thing is, it's not just forums. Towns has cleaned up as well. I haven't seen a single cyber request in there for the last few weeks.
I think it has a lot to do with ZOMG! I think the morons have migrated into the game.

I went into the CB on the same day and couldn't find a single thread worth reading/posting in. x_x Honestly, I haven't seen much in the way of improvement anywhere except for this one trip to the GD. But maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

I think you're right. A large majority of the threads in zOMG discussion are "y tis broken i hat u gliches" (sic). Of course, there's a flurry of flames immediately afterward, with a couple of intelligent answers sprinkled in.

It's how I got on in the CB I think. I ignored the idiots.
But I also kinda dislike elitism.

I agree Zi. But I remember the CB like the first time I posted in it. Now it is cleaner. Almost every time I went to the CB I saw at least two or three sexist threads. So to speak. And now there is... none. But the contest threads, Get this Thread to a Million Pages, and the random threads are still there.

I ignored the idiots. But I also kinda dislike elitism. BT was my first home and I'm proud off it...I still remember when I made my First of the 3 Tree House threads....heh...memories. I've noted that BT has gotten a lot better since they've started...still has those twisted slave threads and some noobs but I think hope is starting to shine through.
