Well, I'm working on a novel series(The Bloody Prince series)
It's a vampire series(inspired by Twilight series, not plagiarism) and the vampire family dresses in Lolita.(Mom/Dad=Aristo, Son=Kodona, Daughter=Guro, son's fiance=Gothicloli)
While I was writing, I began fantasizing about how popular the series might be, and how the world would be more into Lolita ^-^. But as I was fantasizing, I realized I kinda didn't want the world to know about Lolita.
I mean, thnk about it. I'm sure each of you take pride in being like the only around who wears Lolita. Do you really want Lolita to turn into an everyday fashion?
What I'm trying to say, is that do yall really want to see a bunch of Lolitas walking around? I thought I did, but now I'm not so sure.........so I was wondering your opinions................

I would love to see lolitas walking around everywhere. I want everyone to get the chance to see the fashion and decide whether or not they would like to join in too. I wish I could have found out about the fashion when I was in high school. I didn't find out about it until I got internet access in my university years. I don't want any other people to miss out on years they could be enjoying the fashion too. You can see a similar discussion in the Loli Dollies Guild if you're interested seeing what some other people think.

-C'est la lune qui conduit la danse...-
I walk around in frillies with my friends all the time. It's not an issue. If you just want to sport Lolita to be **~unique~** then that's your decision.

sounds great! i would totallly read it when its done... as far as your question goes, after the twilight series a lot of people started dressing up as vampires and looked like goths, goths started getting called "those vampires" and suddenly there was a huge mixup of fashions, my worry is that gothic lolita will get mixed in with that, and people wont even see lolitas as "lolitas" and "those frilly vampire goths" maybe if, in the book, you expicitly describe lolita, in a way that would work with your novel, things wouldnt be mixed up as much

Seamstress= I started Lolita when I was 12, so I never really thought about that.......hmmm.......*Starts to think*
Chic- I will. The main characters best friend is Japanese. The main character asks her what "Lolita" is after she realizes that the Guro isn't really a bloody child but a "Guro Lolita".
I don't think I'm clear on what I'm talking about. lets see now................ah!......... Alot of people listen to alot of music. If they like the way the music artist dress, they might dress the same. My best friend dresses VK cause GazettE is her favorite artist. Lets pretend Nana Kitade(Lolita ICON) went big in America. She would get alot of fans. People would want to be just like her and dress like her. Suddenly, many many people dress Lolita to be just like her.
How would that make you feel if many many people started dressing in Lolita?

I don't wear it to be unique or a ~special snowflake~. I wear it because it expresses who I am, and I like it. So if it caught on? Honestly? I would be thrilled, because I wouldn't have to look at every woman's bare midriff, and I wouldn't be prone to tripping over things while reading the backs of their shorts. Plus! People would actually finally realize it's a fashion and might be less likely to associate it with pr0n. That would be great.
But I highly doubt that it would seriously catch on here in the states. Americans aren't all that fond of modesty, and it's not the most "comfortable" fashion to wear. There's a reason that petticoats died out a long time ago. A million layers will never trump the typical jeans and t-shirt that the masses prefer. Even people who are more fashion conscious are more likely to be concerned with what's hot on Paris runways, before they care about some music idol or a book. Not to mention that for all of the extra exposure Lolita's gotten over the last year or two, most girls think that wearing a frilly dress that gives off a childlike appearance makes you look like a moron. They're concerned with looking sexy, and catching a man's attention. It would take a reeeeeaaaally big culture shift for something like Lolita to catch on as a major fashion here.

Uuugh, I know what you mean. The other day, I saw something that said "Young girls are Lolita" and I was excited and clicked it. It was talking about how young girls(7) wanted to be sexy..........
About the uncomfortable thing, you never know, some people amputate part of their own fingers so it's even in the pursuit of beauty.
Listening(reading) your guys thoughts, I'm beginning to think about why I started Lolita ^-^.
More opinions and stuff are welcome.

Though I would love to see Lolitas walking around here more often (I've only seen one since I got into the fashion and she was at my work shopping). At the same time, though, the Lolita fashion becoming more mainstream would just lead to a lot of major screw-ups! I don't mean just the "oh, she forgot to wear a shirt with that particular jumper" or something, but something like Lil' Mama pulled off in a magazine I saw a few months back. (I hope someone knows what I'm talking about.. she had an apron-like dress from Angelic Pretty). It would just get too annoying.

I think that the fun would be sucked out of it if it went mainstream. The thought of Miley Cyrus or someone like that in a Lolita outfit absolutly infuriates me. evil

I love your avi btw XD guro? First off, she does not do "gangster rap". Gangster rap =/= general Rap. Rap isn't all about "sexing" or getting money or retarded things like that. She raps about silly things but also about how ******** up life can really be for a young girl. Secondly, if you know how to mix different styles with one another and make it look right. She obviously didn't do it right though, and even if she was trying to go for Lolita, and she did a good mix correctly, she'd be ostracized regardless.

I don't think Lolita as a fashion will ever take the world by storm, however it may become more common as we see people work lolita-inspired items into their wardrobes (like seeing people wearing punk, or punk-inspired at the mall).
Like what others said, I would just be happy not to have to explain myself all the time. I could get a cup of coffee around here without interruption. >_>;;
