Little Rongo caught his father leaving the nest early this morning, and being the curious little child he was, began to follow him. He left his warm, comfortable spot beside his mother and sister while they still slept. His legs were still small and weak, so he had trouble catching up and stumbled after Kanupa.
Kanupa blinked and turned around to see his little boy following him. He couldn't help but chuckle and pad over to him, nuzzling him. The boy wouldn't listen to him when he told him to go back to Lexie and Remiz, but insisted on tagging along. "Very well, then!"
He brought his son up onto his back where he latched to him and picked up a large palm tree leaf in his mouth. Together, they left the nest in search of some food for later -- particularly fruits.. At the same time, Kanupa was alert and cautious to the possible dangers. Lexie would kill him if he came home empty-handed...

 Near the border between grassland and beach, Kiya lay curled up, a dark-brown bundle nestled between her paws. She watched the waves push in, then pull out. On a day like this, she would usually explore, run around, or do something more than sit close to the house that she slept in at night. But now she was a mother, and she needed to take care of her child. Unfortuantely, the other four bundles had found other homes, and that made her cherish the one she had, Bond, even more. Cyrus sunbathed on the deck, keeping an eye on the shiba Palu he had raised. He loved her as if she were his own, but it had become obvious to Kiya that the green Earth Palu that raised her clearly favored his own child, and all the things he had taught her really didn't mean much to his own flesh-and-blood. Now Kiya refused Cyrus's help, and all he could really do was watch over them.

Kanupa ended up going further than he intended, but he definitely knew where he was going. Occasionally, he would glance over at Rongo on his back to make sure he was safe and sound. The young kit had fallen asleep, but some how he kept his grip on his father's scruff tight. Light was filtered through the palm trees, and he grew closer and closer to the beach -- close to the human settlement.
The sun was in the middle of rising, but the bright light that spilled over the horizon eventually woke Rongo up. He blinked and peered over Kanupa's shoulder, and his eyes widened at the beautiful scenery of the beach and the ocean.
"This is the edge of our land, where the land turns into water," Kanupa said, grinning. "Next time, we'll bring your mother and sister, too."
"Who are those?" Rongo asked, blinking when he spotted Cyrus and Kiya. This was the first time he saw Palui other than his family.
"They are Palui, just like us." Kanupa smiled and carefully brought Rongo back down so he could move around a bit.

From being on a house on stilts, Cyrus could see the other two Palu before Kiya noticed them. He flicked his leaf-ended tail. They didn't look familiar.
A few moments after Cyrus did, Kiya noticed the green pelts of the father and son. She wagged her tail and blinked at them in a silent greeting. Kiya wasn't mute, but she didn't want to be too loud if her owner if not Foxheart or Caramel were inside the house behind her.

The fire-attuned father looked up at Cyrus and Kiya and smiled at them in greeting. "Sorry if we're intruding, we won't stay here for too long. I just wanted to show my son The Edge before finding some food for the family," he said, nodding in the beach's direction.
Rongo began to waddle around, sniffing at a tropical plant close by and taking in his surroundings. When his paw touched the sand, he grinned and pawed at it playfully before turning his attention to plant and dog Palio. "So if you're like us, how come you look different?"
Kanupa chuckled. His son sure asked a lot of questions, but it wasn't surprising. Kids were always curious.
