This is insane. There are four basic differences between races in the show. We have Japanese, Chinese, and Koren between the Fire nation, The Earth Kingdom, and the Water tribes respectively and the Air nomads introduce a different point of view on religion and appear to be of Anglo Saxon decent.
The show appears to take place during a time frame where 14 was a marring age so having teenagers helping prevent a war isn't that unspeakable.
The overall show even stresses the importance of peace and togetherness while still respecting cultural differences.
In my opinion, the person who started the petition is an idiot. And THEY are racist if they think everyone in the show looked the same

Toxic thoughts? What toxic thoughts? I don't think I've seen any kids show that was completely devoid of violence. In fact, most kids shows tend to make violence funny and entertaining, Avatar treated violence like it was serious business that required years of training. In fact, I think I've seen some kids shows geared towards the same age group (early teens, hello?) that were even more violent.
And what does anime have to do with it? I mean... if you don't like anime don't watch anime, how does any one show discriminate against people who don't like anime without actually right out stating "people who don't like anime are stupid"? Which Avatar never actually did. How stupid are some people?

Yeah I saw that petition before. I had a strong urge to tell them off right then and there, but that would mean signing the petition and I didn't want them to have one more signature to claim. But the whole idea is just preposterous.
That guy didn't even spell "discriminated" and "immediately" right. Enough said.
