Heres a prayer I found for animals now I'm not religious or any thing but I thought this is really good. I hope you all like it.

"here our humble prayer O God,
For our friends the animals,
especially for animals that are suffering;
for any that are hunted or lost
or deserted or frightened or hungry;
for all that are put to death.
We entreat for them all thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them
we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands
And kindly words,
Make us ourselves to be true friends of to animals
and so to share the blessings of the merciful.

It's quite fitting, giving it is Rosh Hashanah and will soon be Yom Kippur.

I may bring this with me to Synagouge and pray for the animals on Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur day.

I'm not one for praying for just God, but I like it anyway. Good job. ^_^

I'm not religious either, but I used to go to a Catholic school. We had a religion class there which we'd start with a prayer someone would bring in. I remember once in fifth grade someone brought in a little picture book, and it was saying how humans forgot how to love and care for animals. heart heart

And to think that SOME Christians think that animals, besides humans, were sent to earth to be used by humans. >_<;; But I'm glad most aren't like that.

Back at my old school, I remember in religion class that we had to read this one excerpt from the Bible...it said something along the lines of humans ruling all the animals....something in the Garden of Eden story. That really made me sad. But I know many Christians, and, as far as I know, they all love animals. mrgreen

I do not believe humans were put here to rule animals Humans were put here to help and protect the animals and earth. We are the guardians of mother nature and custodians of planet earth.

On time I was making an announcement to the class about the ecology club, and someone asked me if I was a vegetarian. When I told them why, the first argument that came up was that in the Bible it said that humans were put on the planet to rule over the animals. That was their reason for eating meat and whatnot. But if indeed humans rule over animals (and the truth is-though I don't like it- humans have most of the responsibility for the state of the planet, so in a way we do rule over animals), that would mean that humans have to take care of them. Isn't that what a ruler does? He/she has to make sure that the land that he/she rules is in good shape.

The Bible makes animals to be lesser then humans basically the bible says Humans rule over them because they are lesser then us. Is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with that? Animals are not lesser then us the bible doesn't say any thing about humans being the care takers of the earth.

if you look at the bible it says human has 'domination over the animals that to me has negative connotations just look at how badly animals are treated If the bible meant to rule over animals in a good helpful way then humans have twisted it changed it to suit there evil purposes.

The Bible is flawed in so many different ways, that's why the only time I back something up with the Bible, is when someone tries to prove me wrong with the Bible.

Humans are animals, their is no true dominant species, everything works in a cycle. We dominate the decomposers, while at the same time they dominate us. Like I said, everything goes in a cycle.

The Bible tells us to be rulers. Well when we look at rulers of our own species, we hope s/he will be a nice ruler, not a tyrant, right? For those that believe in the Bible, why don't you be a nice ruler and not a tyrant to other animals? smile

Exactly, and that's the type of point I'd make if someone tried to use the Bible as a back up for a statement.
