So I'm a freshman now
and saturday was my first competition.
it was AWESOME!!!
we got first in Aux. and Band
but we didnt win sweepstakes =[
but still

oh wow, that sounds awesome!
I don' think m school goes on competitions, only concerts and tours...(so jealous)

The first competition really changes things for you, doesn't it?
At mine we were novice class, and even with the lowered scores(they do that so the single A bands are placed higher) we still beat out two bands. Our drumline was .2 off from 4th place, the band was second for people's choice(my favorite award) and first for spirit.
And on the way back everyone in the back of the bus started stripping. xD

Congrats!
Yay for band competitions! I love performances. My band never did particularly well in competition, but I always enjoyed spending so much time with my fellow band students. And of course, you get into all the weird band traditions that way, like stripping...and hookers...
Wait, I need to explain that one. Our band has this ongoing joke about "hookers", or fellow band students you get to hook your collar together.

That's awesome. i have to wait until February for our band competition. We're going to VA beach this year XD (Dunno about other schools, but we only do one yearly)

That's awesome! I love competitions, even though our band usually doesn't do so hot. We have one this Saturday, our only real competition this year.

our band got second place at my very first competition. it was a pretty cool feeling.
our second one we got first and that was awesome too.
but yesterday we got second place and beat the two of the best bands in our group. it was freakin' amazing.
