http://www.gaiaonline.com/newsroom/?type=mangaWell, can you really call it an update? Its more like... plot backstory. An interview that sheds light on the mysterious past of Johnny K. Gambino and the apparently brilliant Edmund. I thought it was pretty cool. I've been saying for a while we need more backstory. Only one problem: WHY DID HE ENCOURAGE BEGGING? OH, WHY?!!

For Durem! Why did Johnny K encourage begging? WHY? Because it's in his blood, TIM. True, this interview took place long before his fall from power, but after the fall, did he not become the biggest beggar Gaia has known? Did he not gain enough revenue from begging to build a mansion large enough to crush the Von Helson twins in DUREM when it fell? talk2hand
Besides that, he encourages it because he wants us to be irritated. Because he is a villainous villain. Curse you, Johnny K Gambino...
LET'S HUNT SOME ORC!

Silly TIM, he encouraged begging because he doesn't give a damn, duh.

I think Dalvar's got a point on that one.
But we must remember the economy of Gaia was supposedly different back when the story was written. Imagine a world with no Barton Boutique, when Gaia Personals were still running, and the forums were the only place you could set up sales and trades! In such times poll whoring was a consitent source of revenue. What kind of world is that for a kid?
I bet he found an unopened letter in the gutter one day, and lo there was a Halo inside.

He encourages it because of one thing; He's filthy damn rich and doesn't give a damn how much we suffer from his mistakes. Such as, H'Ween events, the April Fools explosion, Labtech X, and The Masque. Even so, he loves to see people of a lower social rank being annoyed and overall irritated by his choices. It's the cause of the Isle de Gambino, after all. Even so, if we beg for gold, people will spend the gold on his stuff so they can say they don't have any. It's just how the world works for rich people.

I "love" the revisionist history going on in the margins of the paper. Did anybody else note the inclusion of the Enchanted Books in the snippet about the Gaian Libraries?

Aldera I "love" the revisionist history going on in the margins of the paper. Did anybody else note the inclusion of the Enchanted Books in the snippet about the Gaian Libraries? And the whole side story about Johnny's love life? Sheesh, the guy really hated the Von Helsons for a while, apparently.

I love it heart It's silly and not event-related, just a treat for plot's sake - what's better than that?

Aldera Did anybody else note the inclusion of the Enchanted Books in the snippet about the Gaian Libraries? I sure did. I guess Dr. Singh found them and decided to show them off and have Flynn sell them in the La Victoire.
I guess all the books are there to be sold, but I did not see any demons from the Enchanted Books, as of yet.
