After playing Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 I've decided to use the Buster Sword all the way through FF7. I don't know if I should attempt to just let every one stay with their basic weapons or not. But I was wondering what your thoughts are on it and if you yourself have tried this and what was it like.

I have just beaten the game with only Original Weapons. From Crisis Core, The Oringinal, Then I watched the movie. I got the full effect. Anyway, It is pretty interesting actually. My Awesome Party was Cloud(Of course), Vincent(my fave character) and Barret(I mean this guy kicks a** and the only black playable character in the game.) What you do is get every weapon, The side Quests are always fun, Every Chest, Need the items, Every limit break, your powerful moves, every materia, what uber powers your character, Every accesory, Powers up your character and gets invulnerabality to attacks, every armor, needs the defense. That is about it. In a nut shell, 100% game completion. Oh and level 99. Aerith, or Aeris to some of us, is useless. Well once you get Red XIII, before Vincent, Use his magic stats to use materia. Once you get Vincent, Switch Red XIII out. When you are switching out your materia, Cloud and Barret are probably going to be your main fighters, Then Vincent as your mage and backup fighter, On your fighters, get your fighting yellow materia on Cloud and Barret, and on Vincent, All of your green materia, and once you get Final Attack joint it with phoenix on one of your characters. If you have the MP, you can basically never die. If you do that you should do fine. If any of this is confusing, go ahead and PM me.

Sounds like a lot of work. I would be focusing on obtaining as many stat boost items as you can. W-item should be one of your materia's of choice for your support characters. The battle arena is going to be quite a pain for you if you only are using your original gear for everyone. IF you are selling all of your good weapons anyway...well coin toss might be a big help through out much of the game. Keep a good stock of Hero drinks and mega elixirs and you should be fine.

This is where enemy skills come in handy. It is possible, I have done it before. But it is hard. You will be relying on materia a lot of the time, and the battles that are already long and painful, will be even more so. I would suggest not fighting unnecessary bosses until you have a massive advantage over them. You will need plenty of items, so don't waste them, and be sure that you get every enemy skill possible, as these will be seriously helpful in the future.

No, I haven't attempted such a run yet. But now that you mention it, I might pop the game in and begin a new file.

Well people I have recently finished Final Fantasy 7 with the Buster Sword. The battle arena was fun and yes enemy skill is very handy at that point. I managed to get Omnislash before Wuti and even managed to do the special battles with it. But my crowning achievment is beating Emerald Weapon with just Cloud and his buster sword and Omnislash (ofcourse) and no attacking materia. What I did is I had to get Cloud to lvl 99 and max out his stats. I don't know if you guys know but the under water plane you can morph the enemies into all the different sources, took me a long time I can tell you.
But you can't believe my excitment when I finaly beat Emerald weapon in 8:30 mins with Cloud and the buster sword.

How is it possible that you beat Emerald with only the Buster Sword and Omnislash? His Air Tam Storm attack sucks your health out while healing him. It took numerous pummelings with my most powerful attacks to destroy him, so it seems highly unlikely that he was defeated by just Cloud with just the limit breaks.

(*applause to those who have beaten the game with Buster Sword*) My uncle used all of the default equips for Kingdom Hearts because he recorded it while he played so continuity wouldn't be a problem.
Gil, I wish I had enough money to buy the Buster Sword in real life (eBay, lolz).

As i said i had Cloud with max stats and used the other two to purly heal. You also need the right materia equiped or its near impossible such as Final Attack-Life both max. I can write the whole strategy for you if you want me to but i want people to try them selves. I have played FF7 more than 15 times over 75hours each i do know a thing or two about the game. My mates want me to try and do Ruby but that i think will be impossible, but i'll try one day.

But you won't be using your sword at all in the strategy I have for defeating Ruby, so having the Buster Sword is really irregardless. If you would like, I can give you the strategy for Ruby, unless you already have one of your own.

I really like the buster sword now that I've used it all the way through. Yeah the buster sword is something special to me now.
