Ok ok. I know this subject doesn't get put out there much but I wanted to ask this so I can get a clear understanding about this and why it is done.

Why must those who don't understand something bash upon it like they do?

Like Gay bashing and other types of bashing. I'm getting a bit sick of hearing all that and I want to get a clear understanding about all this from your options. So please post here your thoughts on all this and why do you think people do this.

The reason I believe people flame/bash/rag on things is just because they fear it, hear others bash it, come to mistaken conclusions about it, and/or don't understand it. It's a psychological/sociological phenomenon called "group-think". For most people, anyway, because they are taught that this, this, and this are wrong and therefore bash-able.

Take the furry community, for example. We all know how that goes, right? And I'm not going to be ashamed to admit that I am a furry, in the sense that I can draw them and represent myself with an anthropomorphic animal rather than a drawing of myself. But that's not the point. The point is, is that people rag on them all the time. Why? Bestiality charges. Yep; sex is the thing to blame, as it always is when concerning the object of said drive. Oh, it's other things too, but sex is the biggie. It's only a small percentage of furs that are "furverts" --a play on the word pervert-- yet the entire community gets that label, too. Even the people who just draw anthro animals get the common taunt "Yiff in hell, furfag!" by random haters who see the pieces they've drawn, even when it's nothing but a cute, generic kitty girl.

People bash the furry community, among the many many others, because the majority of "normal" people hear about these extreme "furverts" who get it on with the family dog. Then generalization steps in with disgust and followed by hatred, and voila: furry bashing. Same concept for everything else. Someone gets a wild hair up their butt about something and goes around announcing it to the world.

Or, in less serious cases, people get fed up with it, like anime bashing.

Y'know, this sounded a lot better in my head... Must be the late hour at which I typed it.

What's a fury community? And I don't mean to be mean but I didn't get what you were trying to say.

I myself are a lesbian. I think it's mostly homophobia and religion are the reasons why people resort to gay bashing. No matter what the reason I think it's wrong inside out. I personally think these people should put a smile on their face and keep their unreasonable thoughts to themselves, who knows they may even be friends with one without knowing it.

Gay bashing is just bashing someone just because they are homosexual which I think is WRONG. I think all the people with homophobia should just piss off. Lol sorry for the bad language but that's what I think of them. If I heard there was one; oh I would make their lives hell. I don't have anything against Christians though, it's just homophobic people.

No problem. No offense taken. The furry community is a group of people all over the world who represent themselves with an animal or a humanoid animal (like me), believe they are closer to animals than they are to humans (like me, again), believe they have a guiding spirit animal, or enjoy making and dressing up in costumes that look like their "fursona," the animal representing them. There are many, many, many others who would fall under the category of Furry. It's just such a broad, varied group of people that it's hard to put it all in a nutshell.

Did that help at all? ^^; If not, look up "anthro" on places like DeviantART to get tame pictures of furries. Don't google Furry; you'll get FurAffinity.net and I don't think you want to go there if you don't want a bad first impression.

I'll quote you on that one. People just don't understand their own sexuallity really. That's why most of them do it. That or just to make fun of them and be mister porular. -.- This is the very reason why I stay away from most people. They just keep fukcing with you till you wish they were gone. And that's how I feel about it really. =P And sorry for the foul mouth. But it is early in the morning and I have alot on my mind in the morning.

Nothing worng with what you said at all really. I mean hell...I'm bi. But I don't tell people much about all that due to the bashing but I'll back you on all that. I think people just need to keep a open mind and just live out life without worring about what people are and what they are into and stuff like that. Things would be better in our world if people just stop and think and just mind their own business. =P

*nod* I'm not much of a people-person, either. I don't think I really ever will be; I'm not "mainstream" enough to be among the popular. Many people, over time, will prove themselves to be such idiots to the point where it's just not worth the time to get offended by them. They're looking for a reaction to help soothe their own insecurities until they realize, "OMG, I'm a lot like them!" *shrug*
Besides, popularity is overrated. In the art circles, it gets things stolen from you. Screw that, I say. But as someone once said, "A mind is like a parachute; it functions best when open." How true that is.

*Nods back.* Yes. It's quite sad to see all of our world can just pick on those who are diffrent and they don't wish to look at thmeselves in the mirror and talk about themseleves due to their foolish pride. =P I find it rather sad really. I wish all people could understand all that then picking on others...
PostPosted: Mon Sep 29, 2008 8:09 pm

Bashing of any kind is just sort of sad. I can't really criticize any particular group without feeling hypocritical.

Gay bashing, I take really seriously. What really drives me insane is that some of my friends say they'd be really freaked out if, say, our swim coach was a lesbian. Umm. Okay? Why? Our swim coach is a heterosexual male. He's not ogling us or hitting on us, why the hell would a woman who was attracted to other women do it?! It's just so moronic to feel that way, and even if you do feel that way and you can't help it, really, just keep it to yourself.

And another thing! Why do guys suddenly have to be gay to like books that girls like, such as the Twilight saga? It's really disgusting to see people be horrible to guys that like the books...

I've never seen anyone just bash a guy for being a guy and liking it. I just see them bashing the books, to which I usually agree, because I think Twilight is poorly written and has an undeserved fanbase. Just my opinion.

It depends on what we mean by bash. Give negative feedback? Well, then not all bashing is that bad. For example, my above statement. I bash the series, but I have reasons to. I have every right to complain about it as its fanbase has the right to squeal over it.

Now, if it something like "twilight sux" and they won't give any reasons other than that, I view that as bad bashing. If you are going to hate on something you should have a reason.

I do my best not to bash anyone. I myself do not like the groups way of thinking, and much prefer my own. Im told that makes me a part of some other random group who wants to go against the other group, but I dont give a damn. My thoughts are my own.

Cuz some people just wanna annoy people and what not...
PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2008 3:27 pm

People only bash other people when they don't understand something. For example, the Homosexual, Bisexual, and Transgendered community was underground for an incredibly long time. And then, at some point in my earlier teenage years ( Maybe. I think I was about 12.... that was about 3 years ago, correct me if I'm wrong) there was this uprising for lack of a better word. And, naturally, people just didn't get them. Of course, you have those extremists like the Nazis and the KKK and deathly radical religious groups who believe that 'God never wanted these heathens!' Once again, correct me if I'm wrong. Then you have those people who are just like, "Okay, this is a little abrupt and kinda scary." And, as in the case of the civil rights movement, there's the underdog of underdogs. The low class person who works hard to get by on life and gets no rewards, and envies the sudden rights of the community.
The latter group needs someone to direct their anger to. So why not the group that's getting all these rights when they're barely getting anything? The middle group is the group often influenced by the media and others opinions. And the first groups...... I yield no explanation for them, honestly.
In the end, it's all just a human thing. People hate what they don't know about, so they degrade it to feel more secure about it. What a lengthy way to get to the point.....
