So for English we had to read this article by John Robbins. And it shed some light onto something I was in the dark about.
At the cost of coming across as another one of those animal right hippie veggie heads, I'm gonna say it. Because they treat chickens so poorely in the pultry industry, I am not going to eat chicken any longer.
I KNOW this isn't going to solve anything, I KNOW this doesn't make any sense to you, and I KNOW you think I'm probably going about this the wrong way.
Well, it's a statement I'm making to myself, a choice I'm making because it means something to me. I freakin love chicken. Fired chciken, chicken terriyaki, chicken tacos, chicken soup, chicken taquitos, chicken chicken chicken. But I have 6 little parakeets, who are all playing on their play gym in front of my eyes as I type this, and to think that the same thing that happens to chicken could happen to them if they were another breed and a little more plump( though Owen is well on his way). Just makes me angry. I love birds, I love my birds, and I love chickens.
It's jacked up and I'm not going to eat chicken.

What ever you want to do is fine.
I'm not rich enough to be able to choose what I will eat and what I wont for personal reasons. If its food I'll eat it because if I don't I wont have anything. I wouldn't give up chicken anyways, to important to my tasty diet.

you realize cows and pigs are treated the same way, right? if you're abstaining from chicken on principle, shouldnt you go vegetarian by that principle?
also, i assume when you say chicken you mean you'll stay away from all poultry - turkey, duck, etc - on that principle?

Yes, when I say chicken I mean poultry. The article mainly talked about chicken, and I'm writting a paper on it for class, so I've gotten in the habit of saying chicken, since the article was called Brave New Chicken.
I am basically a vegetarian anyway. I don't eat sheep, veal, or pigs as it is. I'm a stone's throw away from not eating beef as it is. I'm very picky about fat, so It's not like I'm giving up much on the other aspects.
And yes I know how they treat other animals. The point was the article.

Well, I'm currently a bit against vegetarianism. All because of my brother's girlfriend (that woman who's 12 years older than him). She turned him into a vegetarian. And he definately needs to eat some more protein... Animal protein (plus start to work out).

Plants don't have all aminoacids human body needs to build and repair muscles. Though cheese is at least bit of a solution. Oh well, at least he eats fish from time to time as the girl eats seafood.

Good! MORE MEAT FOR ME! scream
At the risk of offending someone, I always kind of roll my eyes at people who get all sympathetic over livestock.
