couldn't someone just wear a normal everyday swimming suit and just go to a same sex swimming event??? >.>It all seems a bit over-done to me. I mean if you are going to go that far with stretchy and water resistant fabric couldn't you just create a same sex swimming area???
Of course you could. If you own the beach yourself, and if you can be sure that no male can come near enough to clearly see any woman who's swimming. Or if you own your own pool, of course. Anybody here own a beach or a pool? 'Cause I don't.
If your community has a high number of religious Jews and Muslims who can support women-only and men-only swimming times, you might be able to get a community pool (indoor, of course). My neighborhood has this -- a VERY high percentage of Orthodox and Sephardi Jews, a VERY high percentage of observant Muslims -- and do you want to know about our women-only hours? Oh, it's great. One hour, twice a week, and you pay $5 to swim for that one hour. Which happens to be during the time I'm on the train coming home from work, but hey, if the stay-home moms are happy, I'm happy, even though I'm not swimming because I have to earn a living.
Or you could just restrict yourself, instead of restricting every male in the community from going to the community pool, or the beach. Personally, I like being outdoors if possible. I like beach swimming, river rafting, boating, canoeing, and engaging in other outdoor water activities. I don't mind a pool, even indoors, but it's not my favorite thing.
These swimsuits I've pointed out aren't much more covering than what the Olympic swimmers are wearing nowadays, and they're not nearly as tight. Olympic swimsuits are tight now because it makes them more aquadynamic, but they're SO tight that the swimmers have to be helped into and out of the suits. Yet they swim very well, and don't seem at all upset about it, so maybe covering isn't as uncomfortable as a lot of folks (else-guild) seem to think.
