OMG!! She is here!! Our tiny bundle of cuteness has arrived! Named Mi'Ako, meaning 'Beautiful Night Child', Mi'Ako is the little bundle of chick-down fluff many have been impatient to see, including ourselves!!! Her beauty stuns me into silence, and I can see by her eyes, she is going to be extremely cheeky! I can't wait to see what adventures she will get herself into!

It is now apparant for the increasing number of posts this thread has got that me and Lilly have reached the necessary RPs needed to reach the next stage of our baby travels! There are on going RPs in progress, one in a Mall for the two of us, one in the Zoo for Lilly, and there are also plans for more Journal entries concerning the pregnancy and also an IM/PM RP concerning meetings with doctors to show that we are really serious about this, and show our understanding of the pregnancy these two characters are undergoing.

After a little while of busy-ness and lack of being around on my part (Malhy) me and Lilly have finally managed to get the minimum amount of requirement down, however, the growth form will only be sent after some private and open RPing between the parents ^^ Mini-Keikancho-Jin is on their way!!

On 22 Sept 08, its happened O_O I have managed to win a GMFC slot!!! The Keikancho-Jin have been created, and Ke'rehl and Jiao'lan are with us and impregnated!! Work on the journal begins now, and me and Lilly are so pleased!!! The beautiful art has been done by Arafel, and they look just stunning!!! Look out for the feathery bundle of fun in a thread near you!!

You may think that Gaia could not hold any more forms of life then you may have seen around the place. You may think that the islands seen on the map are the only ones there are. In thinking this, you'd been well wrong. There are smaller islands scattered throughout the planet, some so small they avoid all attention, missed off of the map completely because the ships literally sailed over them.
The Island of the Keikancho-Jin is one such island. An island no more then 5 miles wide and 15 miles long; a long spit of land that barely registers on any radar. The island sits in a place where the two extremes of the island hold extreme differences in the weather, and thus, the reigning creature that lives here has developed into two distinct sub-species, separated by a divide that is surrounded by myth and legend.
A creature long descended from the Harpy, the Keikancho-Jin are a more advanced, beautiful creature to their rot loving, death hoarding ancestors. Their bodies are a perfect melding of humanoid and avian; beautiful long feathered wings are melded into their humanoid arms, hips transforming their human chests to avian digigrade legs with feet clawed and perfect for grasping and maiming; males' having a very velociraptor-esque toe that curves up and is fully mobile with an extra long claw, adapted for protection and predating. The two sub-species, the Shan'ro and Ban'ku tribes, are greatly separated due to their living conditions. Descended from one 'parent' Keikancho'Jin, many of their attributes remain the same, but the Shan'ro, being from the colder, icier north, and the Ban'ku, being from the warmer, tropical south have differences in their detailing that makes them perfect for survival in these places.
The Shan'ro are possibly the most far from the 'parent' Keikancho-Jin. Most noticibly is their colour. Being from the icey north, they have developed a much paler colouration; the majority of the breed being a pure icey white with pale stripes to camoflague them perfectly with their snowy mountain abodes. Their head is covered with thick stranded 'hair', flexible feather cores that have very little fibre, making a perfect insulation. Their eyes are always a very pale colour, generally white-blue, or white-pink, though there have been a few recorded brighter colours like turquoise or green eyes, but these Shan'ro tend to go blind at a very early stage and thus gain the same white tinted eyes. They tend to have more downy feathers on their humanoid parts, especially the males, usually spanning their chest and stomach. Even the females have this downiness covering their chests. Like all Keikancho-Jin, they have the long whip-like tails and the digigrade legs, but the Shan'ro also have another odd appendage. Whereas the original Keikancho-Jin and even the Ban'ku have large ornamental feathers on their heads, the Shan'ros' ornamental feathers changed dramatically and became thick feather core horns, unlike normal feathers being hollow, these aren't and are thus very strong.
The Ban'ku, on the other hand, are pretty similar to their 'parent' Keikancho-Jin. They come in a variety of colours, from vivid blues and greens to deep reds and blacks. Their home in the jungles of the south mean they can be any colour, and being the main predator, they have no need to be greatly camoflagued. Their patterns can be spotted, splodged, stripes or swirled, and generally this tribe mark themselves with tribal tattoos around the face and shoulders, the females being more ornamental in these. They lack the downy chest feathers of the Shan'ro, and tend to fashion themselves crude clothing, or simply walk naked. The Ban'ku are a much sleeker creature, their feathers fitting close to their body, apart from their head 'hair'. This is made of very fluffy, downy feathers that poof around the head and is very ornamental, as are the two long ornamental feathers that are situated on their head. The males of this breed have short stubs of where horns could possibly grow, but instead, their ornamental feathers have taken presidence.
There is another great difference between the two breeds. The warmer climes of the south mean that the Ban'ku are able to safely bear shelled offspring; eggs that allow their young to develop outside of the body so that the female is able to better traverse the difficult jungle terrrain. However, the freezing, north lands of the Shan'ro have resulted in a very strange adaptation. The Shan'ro remain pregnant for the incubation period, the shells their offspring are originally concealed being reabsorbed into the body and the offspring being born live. This keeps the young safe from the dangers of the cold, and are born with a thick down all over their body to protect them from the cold whilst they grow. This evenually disappoears as they grow so that they can function in the harsh climes easier.
It is noted as highly taboo for these two breeds to mix, with stories of great disasters happening to the mated pair and to the strange, evil offspring they produce. The Elders of each tribe have passed on these myths and legends about the wrongness of interbreeding, and thus sparked a sort of hatred between the two. The two have been distant for many centuries, but every now and then, accidents happen.
The middle of the island was a no man's land, and as such, not often entered by either tribes. However, occassionally, the need for exploration happens within each generation, and this particular generation resulted in something special. A male of the Shan'ro tribe and a female of the Ban'ku meet in strange circumstances whilst he was hunting and she was spending time away from her tribe. He was named Ke'rehl Shan'ro, she Jiao'lan Ban'ku, and from that single meeting, something special came into being that seemed to defy all reason. They knew the stories, and they knew the taboo, but for some reason, the pair could not stop thinking of each other, regularly meeting after the initial meeting. As their love for each other grew, they knew they would have to escape before their meetings stopped being secret.
Thus to Gaia, the new mates came, flying fast and sure to escape the accusations of their peers and tribal leaders. Their flight was long and tiring, but eventually, land came into sight. Their wings tired, their eyes heavy with sleep, the Keikancho-Jin landed on the beaches of this new land and fell asleep, a deep sleep that not even the waves could disturb. As daylight crept into view once more, the pair awoke to their new surroundings. A place vastly different to their own, and they knew they were far from those lands now. Leaving Jiao'lan on the beach, Ke'rehl flew off in search of life.
His travels yielded cities, towns, civilisation of every kind!! To his sheltered eyes, these places were like bee-hives, so full of activity and life that it scared him, but he knew there was no more travelling to be had! They had to make the choice; return, or stay. It was an easy one. To love each other they must stay, thus, to these alien and strange shores, the Keikancho-Jin were introduced...

Eyes: Pale grey, like hard grey pebbles from the Shan'ro tundra.
Feathers/Skin: Black downy chick-feathers, pattered with grey and white stripes. Her skin is pale baby-pink.
Hair: Like her mother's currently, the 'hair' is the same downy-feathery fronds of her lower limbs and black, like her mother's.
Markings: White-grey stripes cover her lower limbs and tail, and dip the feathers of her wings. Her cheeks hold some grey stripes, similar to her father's.
Other: She has thick, hard horn-nubs on her head that are black and tipped in red, a strange cross between her Shan'ro and Ban'ku heritage. Her claws are, thus far, not long and sharp in the style of the fighting claws of the Shan'ro, but this could change over time. Her body has, thus far, no other striping apart from the faint grey stripes on her cheeks, but again, this could change over time.
Likes: Peace and quiet, playing with her father, story-time with her mother, chewing on EVERYTHING.
Dislikes: Bad tastes, being told she can't chew on something, loud noises.
Guilty Pleasures: Omnomnom!
Aspirations: To get a hold of everything she ever comes into contact with and give it a good gnawing.
Personalilty:
Infant Stage
An innocent, sweet child, Mi'Ako is quiet and observant, most often found with a toy or her longest claw in her mouth, chewing quietly and contentedly. She cries very little, and what sounds she does make are strange; a cross between the bird-like cheeping of her ancestory and the more human-esque wails of a baby. When content, the cheeping is much more pronounced and comes from the back of the throat. When upset, her sounds are the wails of a true baby. Her love of gnawing things from so early has sparked some worry that perhaps, like her Shan'ro heritage, she will not be long gaining the teeth needed to eat through the tough, frozen meat favoured by that sub-species. However, she does seem to enjoy the sweeter taste of her Ban'ku fruit-eating heritage. She seems to be a bit of a daddy's girl, and, even now, watches him closely and wants to be with him when he comes home from work. She seems to have already worked out that she will get everything she could ever want from her father. She spends her days with her mother, and will happily sit wherever placed and watch, with her toys, her mother's busy bustling. A more content child with their lot could not be found, it seems to the Keikancho-Jin family.

 Accessories
After finding out that Mi'Ako had been born a girl, Ke'rehl bought a small pink bow to be put into her mass of downy 'hair'. She now wears this whenever she goes out.
Mi'ako has also been brought a number of tops and leg-less baby-grows. She seems to love the colour blue, and gets excited if a blue top is offered to her. Her list of clothing items thus far include, but is not limited to:
> A green top with 'Wild Thing' written on the front, with a crazy looking parrot underneath.
> A pale blue legless baby-grow with three cute little penguins on the front with 'Too Cool...' written underneath them.
> A pale yellow top with bright green frogs jumping around on the front.
> A pale green top with a jungle scene on the front, with lots of jungle animals peeking through.
Some of these tops are larger then are needed, and look as though they may fit for a long time, as Mi'Ako is very small. Many of the tops and baby-grows have been altered down the sides so that her arm-feathers can fit through easily; often just a longer arm slit down the side, with a few buttons sown on the sides to do them up a little to avoid any accidental flashing!
Items
Her first two toys, bought by her mother and father on a trip whilst she was still a bump. The bear stands nearly as tall as her father, and the lemur has velcro hands. Lemur is a favoured toy, held onto wherever she is taken. Bear is who she cuddles whenever she is sad, and is nearly three times her size.

Gender: Male
Age: Unknown - Around 36 summers
Eyes: Ice white blue.
Feathers/Skin: Pure white, with black markings
Hair: Thick feather like fronds that are of purest white and fall either side of his face.
Height: 4'9
Markings: Black stripes around his legs, arms, tail and torso, as well as black tipped feathers. Some stripes on face.
Other: Long blue horns, feathered wing-arms, raptor legs, whip like tail.
Likes: Kindness, manners, spending time with the new family, being with Jiao'lan, being free of the laws of his home.
Dislikes: The laws of his tribal home, rudeness, insulting bullies.
Guilty Pleasures: Flying, family.
Aspirations: To have a child with his mate.
Personalilty: Ke'rehl is a kind, caring Keikancho-Jin of the Shan'ro tribe. This was detrimental to him really, as the Shan'ro tribe were great warriors and fighters. Though Ke'rehl is also fully capable of fighting, and well versed in protection, he prefers to deal with problems through speech and acting the gentleman. He is greatly attached to his family, and it is his hope that whatever child that may result between he and Jiao'lan will be healthy. He plans to smother the child with affection and love.

Likes: Her loving mate Ke'rehl, fruit, fish, animals, domestic chores, the idea of motherhood, children, family, the freedom Gaia provides, fun-loving people
Dislikes: The governing laws of her homeland, that she cannot see her parents or family again, bigots, those who stare at her in public, negative people, trying to live in a world made for those who are far taller
Guilty Pleasures: Chocolate, flying
Aspirations: To have a child with her mate.
Personalilty:Jaio'lan is a outspoken, kind yet caring Keikancho-Jin of the Ban'ku tribe. She made a hard choice when she met her mate and left the only world she knew behind for the concrete wilds of Gaia. She is very family oriented and as such it is very hard for her to be away from her family. She has a keen wit and is quickly adapting to the Gaian way of life.
