I love hybrids. I have my 70 Druid, and my 19 twink Paly, so now, I have decided to roll a shaman. I can't decided between a cow or a squid. I like the look f the Tauren, almost rolled one when I started my druid. I don't care for the look of the Draenei as much until they get into the high lvl armor. Both have race bonuses I like. If I roll the Draenei, I can support it with my Druid, main reason I would pick it. But well, the reason I am thinking about horde is because I have noticed most Allaince players are a pain in the a** in groups and bg's as you grow and lvl. And an added plus, the quest would be new, so it wouldn't be as repetative. I wish Blizz would let you pay to change races like you can names and servers, then all my problems would go away.
Any who, which should I pick and why?

You pick a bipedal, earth-loving cow or a hooved, horned space alien. Either way it's pretty ridiculous.

My boyfriend told me to tell you that for 2/3 of the shaman specs, tauren have superior stat growth. And who cares about elemental, anyhow. He plays a 70 resto shaman, having tried all of the specs available, and having played the toon straight for 3+ years.
My own personal opinion, never having played a shaman, is that by the time you hit endgame a few pts here and there isn't going to make a difference by the time you get into customizable epic gear. Its pretty easy to make up the difference. Just pick whichever you hate less.

Tauren shammy would bet teh best choice for you. Tauren have the 5% more health and are harder to kill in pvp smile So you'll have more survivability.

Not only is that a good point, but on my server the Hord tends to be more mature while Alliance is rather over run with children trying to play hero and kill of the "ugly evil Hord baddies".

well one's a C.O.W.Boy from the Moo Mesa and the other has a dickchin, so its a tossup
though i would also love if you could actually set upon a quest to make a character and choose you're faction.
i dont know how it would come to be, set up a long a** quest line to weed out the ******** who would do it on a whim or some s**t. but i think it would be hilarious to be able to shank night elves as a gnome. dont know why, but it would

AT END GAME IT WONT REALLY MATTER MUCH WHO YOU PICK,
I SAY GO ALLY SINCE YOUR MAIN IS THERE,
EASIER TO SUPPORT, PLUS YOU'LL BE ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM WHATEVER PROFESSION YOU MAKE YOUR SHAMMY FOR BOTH TOONS,
AND FEMALE DREANEI ARE ACTUALLY WELL DESIGNED, THEY DUN HAVE SHOULDERS THE SIZE OF MOUNTAINS,
COURSE IF YOU'RE BORED YOU CAN MAKE THE COW TOO,
UP TO YOU REALLY 3nodding

Draenei get +4% to hit with spells. That's insane in end-game content for an elemental shaman, & any casters they are grouped with. With WotLK, it'll be raid-wide, which is just amazing.

From a traditionalist fantasy RPGer, I'd say do Tauren. Their culture seems to fit into the whole shaman-thing as psedo-native-Americans better than strange space-being that just crash-landed on Kalimdor. Also, I sort of feel like Dranei shamans are a sort of...well, a cheat so-to-speak. I think that the shamans should have remained on Horde and the Paladins should have stayed on Alliance. It was almost the only significant differance between the two sides, and I just felt cheated when the Dranei were given the shamanistic heritage.
From an even more traditionalist approach would be to choose a Troll shaman, which has a natural feel RP-wise. Then again, my RPG background steers me to roll characters based on logic and story and not numbers, and I don't know how many Trolls you have.

It depends on what you're planning to do specwise, and gearwise at 70.
PvE or PvP? Resto, Enhance, or Elemental?
Because of the AoE stun and extra health, Tauren are good for PvP. Because of the racial HoT and party-wide spell hit, Draenei are good for PvE.
I have a Draenei Resto Shaman (With a Mag/Gruul level Enhance set). The GotN racial is very useful in fights that have any sort of silence effect, like Aeonus in Black Morass and Nalorakk in ZA. Being a PvE'er, the AoE stun of a Tauren really wouldn't help me. razz

Forget those guys - go with a Troll Shaman. xD
Well, when it comes to Tauren or Draenai, I'm strictly Horde. I quest often with a Tauren Shaman, and he just... is so awesome in Uldaman. He can tank it, sheesh.
I'd say Tauren.... Just because I like Horde better than Alliance. I'm quite biased.
For the Horde!

Priv server exp. is that if you're going Elemental, you want to roll a Tauren because the friggin Draenei don't have bloodlust. o_e
