Since the 9th Doctor the use of the daleks has become common, dare I say even too common. In the older series of Doctor Who it seemed like Daleks were a rare commodity. Now they're used seemingly every few episodes, which has cheapened certain episodes like "Dalek" and even the Time War. Daleks were rare before hand but now since they were thought to be wiped out the writers use them every chance they get. Which really shows a lack of creativity in all truth.
I'm not saying I dislike the Dalek episodes, in fact I enjoy them immensely. I'm saying that they are perhaps over used and some new powerful enemy's should be introduced into the Whoniverse. Maybe the Dalek's are used because it's really easy to put them in present day Earth which makes it easier to draw new watchers to the show. Or maybe we as a human race have become so utterly entranced with ourselves that to even imagine a universal threat coming from a different race not mention galaxy is incomprehensible. Which is the highest form of arrogance I have ever conceived so let's hope not. It is just that even though we all love to hate the Daleks, it's becoming a bit repetitive and the lack of new long standing enemy's is rather sad.
Daleks should disappear for a while, a fair amount of time so that new enemy's can appear and a sense of security can surround the Doctor and his Companion(s).

I think so, they're not really shocking any more... more like, oh, a Darlek - how will The Doctor defeat them this time? xx

what really gets me is it's always...oh! this must be the LAST last of the Daleks...
but after season two, I think we all knew they were coming back...and then they did...

don't get me wrong, I adore Daleks...I want one (figurine I mean...I doubt owning a REAL Dalek would work...assuming they were somehow real and all) but I wish the series would stop putting in the 'last of the Daleks' line in.
Cause they keep coming back.

RTD is very annoying like that. He constantly comes up with one original plot, and then works it to death. Urk.
This is why I'm glad he's going.

I like the Daleks, but I agree they have been overused in the series. If they made the next series without any Daleks in it, and then brought them back the year after that, I think they would regain their credibility somewhat.

I was discussing this with a friend the other day [yes! I have friends =D ] ... anyways and we both agreed the Daleks have been over-used recently ... although they are lengendary Dr Who villians ... its becoming unoriginal ... so this time they bought back Davros but it was essentially the same as the last however many episodes with Daleks in. I say bring back other legends or create some new ones... it's not like there's a shortage of writing talent on the show.

Then again, when they come up with new baddies, what do we get? Slitheen...
Well, OK, the Krillitane were cool.
I must say I did like seeing the Sontarans this year, even if I couldn't look at the head Sontaran without thinking, "It's Kiv! It's Kiv! Where's Sil?"

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way.
I mean it's not that hard to come up with a villian they could even get on some of the boards or hold a contest or two for enemy ideas. My fanfic has a few enemy's and so do all the others

Well, there WAS a contest for making a Doctor Who monster; that's where the Abzorbaloff came from.
...granted, it was a contest for children. Perhaps a contest open to all ages could be more interesting.

They do use them too much and in the old days I never though them as a great evil. They were bad and alot of fun. I do think the over use them because they are a fan fav.
I like them but my fav will always be the Master. I didn't like how they used in the new stuff it is was like the Master was nothing. I do hope they bring the Master back.
