Mainly due to all the new trainers that have recently joined the guild and are fairly new to the vast world of Online Wi-Fi Competitive battling, I have decided to post up the globally accepted rules of online play, also known as Battle Clauses. To break a clause means an automatic forfeit of the match. If you have any questions concerning any of the clauses and their meanings, feel free to ask one of the crew members.

Standard Clauses

Uber Clause: The following pokemon are deemed to be unbalancingly powerful and are not allowed to be used:
User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image
User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image

Update 12/21/10
Despite Smogon's decision to move Salamence into the Uber tier, due to overwhelming support from the crew and the members here at D/P Gaming, Salamence shall still be considered legal for to use in all of D/P Gaming's guild-sponsored events and tournaments until further notice.

Self KO Clause: Your Pokémon cannot use moves like Explosion or Self-Destruct to win if it's the only Pokémon remaining on your team. The same applies for Perish Song and Destiny Bond.

Sleep Clause: The sleep clause means that you cannot put 2 enemy Pokemon to sleep at the same time. This means, if you put my Gengar to sleep, and I switched out for Arcanine, you cannot put Arcanine to sleep until Gengar has woken up. However, if you KO the sleeping Pokemon (Gengar in this case), feel free to use your sleep moves again. Please note, that Pokemon who have induced their own sleep, commonly through using Rest, then that does not count towards the clause.

Evasion Clause: One of the most questioned clauses, but it's right up there with Uber and Sleep for importance. Basically, this clause means you cannot use evasion increasing moves like Double Team and Minimize. This clause has appeared due to the fact that any Pokemon who can use TMs can learn double team, and there's no way to get rid of the evasion bonuses except through the move Haze, or if the opponent switches out. Further leading to the unfairness of double team is the fact that after 2 uses, only about 60% of your attacks can hit the foe at all and to finish it off, double team can be baton passed to a stronger, faster or sturdier Pokemon.

Species Clause: This clause means you can't have more than 1 of the same Pokemon (or any of it's same evolutionary chain) on your team. This is mainly used just because it's kind of annoying to see 4 Garchomps or a Charmander and Charizard or something ridiculous like that. This clause is oftentimes not used, but will normally be active during tournament play. This clause of course does not effect the use of multiple Eeveelutions or any other pokes with optional evolutions.

OHKO Clause: Moves like Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill and Sheer Cold are banned from use as the only surefire counter to OHKO moves is to have a focus sash/focus band, an ability that prevents them, or to not get hit by them. While some may argue there's only a small chance of getting hit by them, this only makes it even more frustrating when a player that's better than another loses. Because moves like these require more luck than skill to use, they are typically banned.

Optional Clauses

Item Clause: By far the most common non-standard rule, item clause states that each Pokemon on the team must be holding a different item from one another. So no double leftovers or focus sash. Items that do the same thing but aren't the same however are allowed. An example of this: Leftovers and Black Sludge.

Luck "Hax" Item Clause: In online competitive play, the term "Hax" refers to when something unlucky occurs to you. Most of the time this is that 30% chance to freeze from a Ice beam, or something of that nature and it's just the way the game goes. Although, when it comes to hold items that have small chance of completely turning the game around just out of sheer chance, it's deemed rather frustrating and very similar to the OHKO Clause. For this reason, when this clause is in effect, that means the following items are banned from use: Brightpowder, Quick Claw, Razor Fang, Focus Band and King's Rock.

Legendary Clause: When this is in play, all legendaries, Ubers and non-Ubers alike, are banned from use.

Trios Clause: This clause states that only Trios legendaries may be used. The trios are the legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres), legendary dogs (Entei, Suicune and Raikou), Legendary Golems (Regirock, Registeel and Regice) and Mirage Trio (Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf).

Explosion/Selfdestruct Clause: Only one Pokemon per team can use either Explosion or Selfdestruct.

Switch Clause (X switches): Also known as the "Switch b***h" Clause, this rule pretty much presets what the invoker feels is an acceptable amount of switches any player may do back-to-back. This amount is dictated in place of the X.

Big 5 Clause: Only one of the following Pokemon may be used per team: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross or Garchomp.

Skarm/Cress/Bliss Clause: Only one of the following Pokemon may be used per team: Skarmory, Blissey or Cresselia

Paralysis Clause: This clause states that you may not paralyze more than one of your opponent's Pokemon at a time through use of status moves (Thunderwave, Stun Spore and Glare). As there tends to be mixed feelings concerning how this clause operates, when in effect, it is generally best to ask it's invoker's opinion on whether or not attacking moves and/or abilities (ex: Static) also apply to this clause.

Poison Clause: Definitely the most uncommon of clauses, the poison clause states that you cannot poison more than one of your opponents through use of status moves (Poison Gas, PoisonPowder, Toxic Spikes and Toxic). Similar to the Paralysis Clause, it is generally best to ask it's invoker's opinion on whether or not attacking moves and/or abilities (ex: Poison Point) also apply or not.

Freeze Clause: Although very absurd by clause standards, as there is no move yet in existence that automatically freezes an opponent, this clause generally states that you may not freeze more than one of your opponent's Pokemon at a single time. Generally tied in with the Sleep Clause (see Combo Clause section), I can see it's uses there, but alone, it really makes little or no sense to forfeit via use of hax (see above for meaning of "hax").

No NU / NU (Never Used) Clause: No Pokemon or only Pokemon of the NU tier may be used.

Combo Clauses

DT/OHKO Clause: Often times grouped together like this, when this is in invoked, both the rules of Evasion Clause and OHKO Clause are in effect.

Sleep / Freeze Clause: Only one Pokemon may be asleep/frozen at the same time as another. Once one unfreezes, that Pokemon or another may be put back to sleep. Pokemon asleep due to the effects of Rest do not count towards that limit.

Humor Clauses

Edgar Clause: A joke clause that originally started on an online pokemon simulator known as Shoddy Battle, this clause is never invoked seriously and mainly just brought up for the lulz .
