Swirl sat on the cool grass of a small clearing, her head tipped towards the sky. She longed to go up there someday, to be able to fly. Of course, those were impossible dreams of a Namir forever stuck on land. She had always liked high altitudes, that was why her home was on a hill top under a small tree for shade and shelter. She wondered though, were there such things as Namrah with wings?

Paris was flying high in the sky, enjoying the cool breeze that blew through his fur. He was secretly wishing it would rain, but then flying in the rain sometimes caused problems. He continued to soar peacefully. Then he suddenly dropped out of the sky and swooped down. His intent was to catch an unsuspecting deer, but he was distracted right before he could snatch it up. He sensed another Namir nearby. He frowned as the deer jumped away. "Well, I wonder who it is that made me miss my dinner," he laughed darkly.
He took to the skies once again. As he came to a hill, he noticed the Namir sitting beneath a tree. He quickly flew down and landed dramatically a feet yards in front of her.

Swirl looked up as a gust of wind hit her face. Above her was a Namir that was landing from the air. This was surprising. So there are Namir that can fly, she thought to herself as the Namir landed a few feet from her. She got up and looked at it, or him. He was a dark purple color with brilliantly broad wings. There was like a mask where his red eyes were. This Namir interested her and she took a step forward. "And who is this?" She asked.

Paris raised an eyebrow, pleased that she wasn't afraid of him. "I'm Paris Abdiel. And you would be?" He took one step forward and bowed as he stated his full name. He kept his eyes on hers, keeping his face as expressionless as possible.

Swirl nodded and replied, "I'm known as Swirl." She looked at his face and knew he wasn't planning on letting her know too much either. "What's it like to fly?" She suddenly asked. Coming from one who can actually fly in the sky this question was fairly answerable.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Swirl." Paris tilted his head to the side slightly at her question. "Free," he answered simply,"And quite natural. But I'm fairly sure I think of it far differently than someone who hasn't flown their whole life would think of it.

"I'm sure it does." Swirl replied wistfully. She had always longed to fly and she was sure it would feel almost natural to her too.

Paris carefully watched her expression, wondering how she would react if he threw her on his back and flew away with her. He laughed to himself, knowing that he would get in trouble for kidnapping. "So what, if I may ask, were you doing up here all alone on this lovely day?"

Swirl shrugged. "My family all died so I decided to move to a place of high altitude all alone. Some of the Namir who live by this hill think of me as the crazy lunatic who has high hopes of being able to fly." She flicked her tail towards some little shelters where the Namir all gathered.

"Crazy, eh?" He put on a crooked smile and mumbled, "I think I can relate." He then decided to do exactly what he had just decided not to do before. He picked her up and whirled her around to his back. He quickly leapt into the sky and was off into the air before she could object. He knew he would regret this later.

Swirl hardly had time to react to what he was doing. "What are you--" She cut herself off as she realized they were in the sky. Her smile widened as she realized what he did. So this is what it's like to fly... She thought to herself as they passed through a puff of cloud.

Paris didn't bother to ask if she had minded. It wouldn't matter anyways. But he could already tell she wasn't upset. He didn't think she would have been. But then he wasn't all that worried if she did get upset. "Hold on," he said as he began to speed up.

Swirl held onto him as they began to speed up. Paris was right. It did feel free to be able to be up here, so high. "Where are we going?" She asked after a little while of silence.

"I didn't have any place in mind. Is there someplace you'd like to go?" He really hadn't thought this plan through much. He simply liked the feel of the air rushing past him.

"No, anywhere is fine." She replied happily as the wing rushed through her fur. This seemed, almost natural to her too.
