General Guild Rules & Requests

RULES:
This is the only post you really need to read, but you may still want to review the rest of this announcement.

-Follow the ToS and any other rules set up by GaiaOnline.

-No Quoting other posts.

-No Page-Stretching.

-No Random Advertisements.
Advertisements are defined as posts; signatures with ads are allowed.
If you would like to run an official ad or become an affiliate, see below.

-No Begging.
This includes all PMs, comments, and posts requesting items or gold in a forward manner. Hinting, whining, attempted bribery, sob stories, and asking specific people for specific things are included.

-No Trolling.
ToS. Enough said.

-Please, be polite and respectful.
This includes both posting and gifting. Do not cancel a trade because what the person is giving you is not what you want. Posts that say something along the lines of "I Don't Want" will be warned. Do not send blank trades.

-Threads:
Please put your threads in the appropriate sub-forum.
If you don't feel that any of the sub-forums are appropriate for your topic, you may post to the main forum, but we ask that you fill out a form in the New Sub-Forum Ideas Sticky as well.

-Mule/Secondary Accounts:
All we will say is: It is frowned upon to pretend you're someone else on a different account. And don't think we won't find you.
*We ask that you register all accounts in the Account Directory.
This is not required, but it is highly suggested that you fill this out to avoid any future problems.

Gifting Rules:
There are no rules! You may gift to anyone you'd like.
-You are not, in any way, obligated to give to anyone. (ie: He or she posted above you.)
-On the flip side, others are not obligated to give to you. (ie: You posted above him or her.)

*Please remember, this guild was created for giving, not receiving.
(Although, if you don't give to anyone, we will wonder why you joined this guild.)

Rule-Breaking:

WARNINGS and reminders will be issued. It is advisable to pay attention to them so that you are not banned.

Warnings are official reminders. If you get three warnings for the same offense, you will be put on probation.
(We are lenient, reasonable people.)

Probation:
To be put on probation, we use the three-strike rule for the same offense. This means, if you receive three (3) warnings for breaking the same rule, you will be put on probation.

While on probation, you must abide by ALL rules, and you may NOT participate in any prize events being run by the guild. (Specific events will be listed to the offender at the time of probation.)

If you break a serious rule while on probation, the moderator team will review your case and determine if you are fit to remain in the guild.

The only time the three-strike rule may be waived is if a user is reported for something extreme. If this happens, we will alert the user and explain.

We are NOT responsible for telling you how close you are to being put on probation; we expect that you have reviewed the rules and understand what is appropriate.

Failure to comply with rules and moderator warnings will result in BANNING.

Reporting Rule-Breaking:
Please feel free to report users for rule-breaking to me, Worst December, or any other crew member, via Private Message. We ask that you include:
-The user's screen name*
-Reason*
-Thread name*
-Forum name*
-Page number*
-Any relevant quotes/links
*Required.

Guild Requests and Suggestions:
-WE HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU MIND ANNOUNCEMENTS.
Announcements are tailored to each sub-forum, and are also our best ways of relaying information to you.
-Please do not over-post your wishlist or questlist.
-Please be patient.
It is also to miss posts if a thread is moving quickly. If your post is hopelessly lost, simply post it again.
-Keep it pleasant!
Expressing anger and/or frustration, especially at a lack of gifts being sent to you, are two good ways to get yourself on people's bad sides. Go take five if you're getting really upset. Personal problems between members should be kept to PMs, and out of the guild.
-GRATITUDE:
We do not impose much here, but as a reminder to everyone; no one is required to give you anything. So when you DO receive something, remember that the gifter had to work for that trade, no matter what it is, and that no one had to trade you their pixels. Two small words can go farther than a million gold.


Reiterating Kumiko's 7/19/08 Announcement:
-Dressing like you don't have gold and using mules to get extra stuff is frowned upon.
If you really don't, that's one thing, but if you have gold and pretend that you don't, that's totally different. We'll give you something, just about anything, no matter how much gold you have; this is totally unnecessary and just makes everyone angry.
-Be conservative with both caps lock and exclamation points, because you may accidentally find yourself offending someone else.
Doesn't mean you can't use them; just be careful~

*This has now been written three times. I will try to keep everyone updated on the rules, but I cannot be on top of everything all the time. (Please refer to the subject line in the forums. It will say "UPDATED" with the date [if it fits] when there has been a change.)

-Where can I find a list of the moderators/people who help run things?
A list of the teams of people who work behind the scenes here in the guild, as well as in our other areas around Gaia, are located in THE Map.

-Who are these Sunday Riot and Monday Mayham characters?
Sunday Riot is our community mule. His main purpose is to provide an inventory and pocket that isn't likely to change much for our donated items and gold. Please send gold donations to him; if they are put into the guild account, we cannot use the gold for giving/prizes/other needs.

-Do I have to join the zOMG clan and/or the Chatterbox thread? Are they requirements?
No; you can join whatever you want to take part in. If zOMG is not your thing, you don't need to join the clan to be a member here or in the thread, and you don't need to participate in the thread to be a member of either/both the clan and the guild.
However, participation anywhere is wonderful. Jump in; we don't bite! ...Well, most of us don't. ^^;;

Advertising:
If you would like to run an official advertisement here, you must meet the following requirements:

-Your ad must stay within GaiaOnline; NO EXTERNAL LINKS ARE ALLOWED.
-Your ad must comply with all ToS regulations.
-You must have approval from at least one moderator.
-You must have all links and advertising images readily available for review, and you must send them to the moderators you are asking permission from.
-Once your ads are cleared, you may post them in APPROPRIATE SUBFORUMS ONLY. For example, your art thread ad shouldn't be in the Fun and Games forum.

NO ADS ARE TO EVER BE POSTED IN THE MAIN FORUM BY NON-CREW MEMBERS. RUNNING ADS ON THE MAIN GUILD FORUM WILL RESULT IN DIRECT PROBATION AND LOSS OF PRIVILEGE TO HAVE ADS WITHIN THE GUILD.

Ads are done two ways.
Scenario 1 - Guild Announcements: Underneath the announcement text is a second post with user ad and info.
-Only the mod posting the announcement may enter ads in announcements. It is solely the choice of the advertiser to decide what ads make it into the announcement.

Scenario 2 - Threads: In each subforum, there is a "Related Links" thread that will link out to other similar parts of Gaia. It can also be a place where people can post links/banners out.
-This is on top of the general affiliates thread.
-Affiliates can have multiple postings of their information based on relevancy to the subforums.

AT NO TIME MAY ADS BE POSTED IN THREADS THAT ARE NOT DESIGNATED FOR ADS. ANY MEMBER FOUND POSTING ADS WHERE THEY DON'T BELONG WILL BE IMMEDIATELY PLACED ON PROBATION AND WILL HAVE AD RIGHTS REVOKED PERMANENTLY.
*This does not apply to signature ads.*
