 The sun was just starting to rise over the horizon, bathing the world in light. Dew clung to the blades of grass and Alik had to wonder why he was up so early. Normally the sun would be high in the sky when he awoke, but this day he woke with the world still dark. Rays of yellow light hit him as the sun rose into the sky, but he could not feel their heat. How was it possible, for the sun to shine on you and yet you are still cold? His brain tried to figure it out, but it was much too early to be doing any kind of serious thinking.
Alik had woken up near his parents and sister and knew they were not going to wake up for another couple hours. That was how early it was. Birds were singing their joyous morning songs and he shivered. They were so loud, how could anyone sleep through this? He wandered around, searching his surroundings for something interesting to do until someone else in his family decided to get up. He had a steady pace, a stroll if you will, as he meandered through the small meadow. He had no idea where he was but he knew his parents could easily find him if they needed too. Maybe he should just lie down and try and get more sleep. Golden eyes looked to the horizon and saw the sun winking at him from behind a few clouds. It seemed like it was rising much faster then he thought it would. I could try I guess, he thought while picking a spot that had tall grasses. Deeming it suitable he laid down, and closed his eyes. He would try.

 Cerylia yawned as the twilight broke into morning, her eyes fluttering open to welcome the sun. It was cool and crisp which meant it was a good day to start off finding new things. With a child-like nature she was highly curious to new things so her curiosity always got the best of her. Flicking that little tail she set out exploring in the tall grasses wondering what she would find. She knew to avoid the scarier looking things like kalona and the other monsters that roamed the land.
So on this beautiful morning as the world was slowly waking she trotted along with her head held high not looking where she was going as usual. Realizing too late that she had tripped over something, the filly was already heels over her head. Before she landed she gave a little cry in panic that let everyone know something happened. Gaining her bearings she shook her head noticing another foal around her age lying where she had stumbled. "Oh I'm sorry.. so sorry.. Did I injure you? I wasn't watching and... sorry." Her eyes were shining with tears though she held them back. Cerylia wondered if he'd holler at her now seeing that she was clumsy like that.

Alik felt something run into him, like it literally walked over him, and he turned and looked over his shoulder to see another foal fall. He blinked his eyes slowly and let out a yawn, one of those huge yawns that he had to open his whole mouth for. Gazing blearily at the other foal, who turned out to be a filly, he waited until his vision got clearer. “Huh? I’m fine, no harm done at all.” He remembered her crash and thought it polite to see how she was doing. “Are you okay? You seem to be the one that might actually be hurt.” He voice was slow and seemed to be induced with sleep.
She was blue, bright blue and had spots…Not like his though, just spots. And in his opinion she said sorry way too much. And she had only talked to him once! His nap had barely just begun when she had decided that tripping over him was a good idea, but now he was wide awake. At this rate he would end up staying up all day. What a bummer.

Cerylia looked at his curiously as she blinked away a stray tear, "Yeah I'm alright I just..." she pondered for a moment what to say. Was he annoyed she wondered that he had been woken up so abruptly like he was. Poor Cerylia found a potential friend only to make a mess of things. Sucking it up she stood straighter like her mother always urged her to do.
"Well the right thing to do is apologize for mistakes but I think I overdid it huh?" she laughed trying to gain her courage not to shy away from the other. He was different in color rather then her usual family gathering of ice and gold, more of a subtle touch with spots that only dappled the tops of his legs.
"I decided to go out exploring and I ran into you.. literally. Ah which I'll stop apologizing because I'm probably bugging you." she nodded trying to smile more, "My name is Cerylia what's yours?" she asked hopping he'd help break the ice as she was trying. Things were complicated from her current mess up, but she was trying to rectify things. He looked so incredible sleepy to her too.

Once you got past all the sorries that came from her mouth she seemed to be nice, and where some other soquili would have probably just run over him and kept walking, she had actually stopped and took the time to apologize. Alik blinked his eyes in a slow fashion, making the blurriness that resided in them recede even faster. He got up in an even slower movement by getting his two front legs sturdy on the ground then pushing himself up with his back legs, like when he had first emerged form his basket and stood for the first time.
Shaking his head and causing grass to fall from his mane he looked over in her direction and gave a small smile. “I am called Alik Elric…I guess just call me Alik, no last name needed.” He kept the smile on his face, thinking that it might help her calm down and stop apologizing.

She calmed as her feet shifted willing herself to not apologize anymore. The filly dappled in her spots upon that icy coat just had a habit of making amends with things. So very different from her siblings it was like she was more delicate then the rest easily offended by certain things and hurt by the smallest quirks.
"Oh Alik... I like your name. Do you like to explore new things? My siblings all have wings except me so I'm usually alone with mama while everyone is in the air." She frowned at that statement feeling exiled from her family, but yet she would never say it. Her mother was so loving and her father as well. She just felt different now and then...
She smiled at him with those precious eyes trying to stay happy and content. "Did you have a nice nap?... well before I woke you that is?"

“Uh, your name is pretty, I like it too.” He gave the compliment in a hurry, hoping she wouldn’t mind the lateness of it. She seemed sad when she talked of her siblings. They had wings it seems, and it looked like she wanted some too. Looking over his shoulder to his back he couldn’t even imagine having wings, which was partially in part to never really meeting a horse that had them. “Who cares about wings anyways, there is much more to explore down on the ground anyways.” He said in an effort to cheer her up.
At her question about his nap he frowned. “Wasn’t really a nap, just laid down for a bit. Didn’t stay asleep for very long.” He gave her a glance with a smile attached to it. Alike would probably need to take another nap later in the day if he was really thinking about staying up this long.

Cerylia looked at him with brighter eyes. His comment on the wings was a little more supportive for even her mother spoke of the same thing. "True. Its sad I can't join them when they all go exploring in the clouds. But you know these tall grasses they hold a lot more in them if you just look. Why I just saw a frog before..." she paused and frowned, "before I ran over you."
She paused hearing the croak-croak of the similar amphibian and giggled. Frogs were funny to the filly as they had long legs and could jump really high. Almost like flying but not, it was kind of cute to her.
"Ever feel like exploring rather then napping? I don't mean that as a bad sentence mind you. If you find something to do like finding things you won't feel sleepy all the time." she nodded with a flick in her little wispy tail.
"Wanna go exploring with me? You might find something like treasure if you try." she mused with soft bright eyes and a smile. Maybe he would join her and she could have a little fun. Cerylia was hoping he'd be her friend maybe - she didn't have one yet.

Treasure? Oh yes, Alik would like to look for any kind of treasure. “Do you think that there could be treasure around here, really? I think we have a better chance of finding those frogs you were talking about.” Alik had never seen a frog but he often heard them, especially when he was trying to sleep.
“And, if there is something exciting going on then I don’t take a nap, but I was so bored this morning, and a nap seemed like the best idea. It probably wasn’t if I was going to get run over, but I forgive you for it.” His smile was childish and the last sentence was said in a superior tone. “Anyways, which way to the treasure?” He asked, his short tail flicking back and forth anxiously and his ears flicking towards any sound that happened to be near him.
Alik really and truly loved exploring. It was a way to learn new things and he was always curious. He and his sister often went exploring when she could get him up. Today was just one of those odd days were he was awake, run over, and now possibly about to begin a treasure hunt.

Cerylia had forgotten her little escapade of being such a clutz focusing more on the task at hand. Eyes brightening to the glistening aura of the ocean, the little filly was overjoyed to have an adventure partner.
"Well treasure likes to hide so its uncertain where. But I'm pretty sure you'll see a little frog while we search. Thanks for helping me." she smiled so pretty as her powdery light tail swished back and forth quite happy. Finally she wouldn't be lonely or bored away from her mostly winged family.
Croak. Croak.
"Hmm? Oh a frog!" she giggled practically bending her head down toward the ground to spot where it had gone.
Rustle. Silence.
"Aww he ran away. Alik you need to be fast and you can spot them. But watch out because they will hop on your nose as little as they are." she mused flicking her tail seeing something shiny in the distance.
"Treasure?" she asked looking at him. With a little clip clop of her hooves she delicately moved through the grass quietly to catch a frog off guard and see what was so shiny up ahead.

Alik followed after her, trying to keep up. He often heard a croak or two as she saw shiny things to look for, and every time he heard one he was after it. Of course he had not been able to see one yet, elusive little buggers. They hopped away to fast for him before he could even get a glimpse of one.
So what the treasure hunt had some how morphed into was Cerylia searching for shiny treasures and Alik searching for frogs. As he was quietly following her he heard another croak of a frog nearby.
Ears instantly perking, his nose was down in the grass seconds later, riffling though it to see if the frog was anywhere near him. When he felt something land on his nose he looked cross eyed down on it only to see to black beady eyes looking back. He yelped and fell backwards, shaking his head repeatedly to get the frog off of his nose. Or, at least he thought it was a frog.
Looking over towards Cerylia he quickly got up, shook his whole body, and then sent a glare over to the frog before catching up to her.
