At the risk of getting my head bitten off because this topic has probably been made before about a thousand times, what bands do you guys think are underrated and deserve more credit than they get?

Here's my list:
- Judas Priest (They're overshadowed by Iron Maiden, although they're just as good, and they were popular back in the day)
- Venom (One of my favorite bands, and they brought metal to the hardcore community over in England, but they don't get much credit for that)
- Anthrax (They may be in the Big 4, and they may have had some albums that went big, and they're one of my favorite bands, but I really don't think they get enough credit. They're always overshadowed by the more mainstream Metallica, who isn't nearly as good as they are and has become a sellout)
- Manowar (Like the others in this list, this is also one of my favorites. This is one of those bands that deserves more credit than most of the mainstream bands out there, yet they are just completely overlooked for reasons no god can explain. Epic band with some epic songs, but they're just overlooked)
I'll add on some more later. But that's my list so far.

ice nine kills is a really good post-hardcore band, but i think they should go completely acoustic, cuz that stuff is ******** amazing. (the simple act of giving up and what i should have learned in study hall)

Zombi, buddy, you can't be serious. Manowar underrated? They're one of the most popular metal bands in HISTORY. Hardly underrated.
Baroness- Great sludge band from Georgia, really the Sludge Metal genre is underrated in many respects.

Underrated and unpopular sometimes go hand-in-hand, but they're different. I feel as if Manowar is underrated because its accomplishments have not been fully embraced by the rest of the world. Just the hardcore community. Correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am. Also, Baroness is an alright band. And I agree that sludge metal is underrated.

Underrated- Not given enough recognition for its quality
Therefore Manowar is in no way underrated, just because the mainstream doesn't give something credit doesn't make it underrated.
I think Cannibal Corpse is underrated, most people who listen to the genre simply mark them off as some kind of gimmick band, but I really think that their sound and their entire image is fairly innovative.

Sorry, but I'll have to disagree with you on Cannibal Corpse. Maybe it's because I prefer thrash metal over death metal, but I really feel that Cannibal Corpse just isn't a good band. When people say metal is just noise, they think of death metal because that's really all it is. Just noise. Particularly with Cannibal Corpse, it sounds like they've had a bit too much to drink and are vomiting into the microphone. Again, I'm a bit biased on this because pretty much all death metal sounds like what I just described. At least thrash/power/speed metal require actual talent and not only a loud voice.

Okay, sonny. Listen, how much Death do you listen to? Can you sing like that? It's much harder than it looks, if you don't do it right you ******** yourself up. Noise? What is music but organized noise? Aside from the fact that Death Metal is one of the most technical styles of metal out there... You wanna hear noise? Try out some drone metal, then tell me your opinion. Don't mark something off like this, ever hear of Vader? One of the most unique vocalists in the genre, you especially can't mark of George Fisher's talent, he's got a strong voice and has the ability to spit lyrics into the mic at 89 mph. I find it funny how you talk all about the talent that goes into speed and thrash, most thrash bands out there have guitarists in which fast = good, worse that ******** DragonForce. I admit to being a huge fan of Thrash Metal, and I'm also a huge fan of Death Metal, you can't compare the genres, you can't do it because they both have largely talented acts and they are completely different.

Point made. I still just straight-up don't like death metal, but I shouldn't have marked it off like that. I actually do like George Fisher a bit. But that's it. The rest (especially Otep) are kinda s**t. And you can definitely compare thrash and death metal. They're both in the extreme metal category. Both involve fast riffs and screaming. The only difference I see in thrash and death metal is that they have different vocal styles. And DragonForce is power metal, not thrash metal. But I get your point.

Try out Nile, Vader, Amon Amarth, and hell maybe even Morbid Angel. Thrash is hardly "extreme" metal.
Yeah, Kenny is my go-to guy when it comes down to Power. Dude's like a God.

Baroness- Great sludge band from Georgia, really the Sludge Metal genre is underrated in many respects. Baroness is really good. Electric Wizard - Heaviest band of the 90's Sleep - second....heaviest? High on Fire Anything Doom/Stoner/Sludge related Also if someone could point towards some Doom/Stoner Metal with clean vocals that'd be awesome. [Hollow Point] if you don't do it right you ******** yourself up. You ******** up your voice even if you do do it right. Only a little slower.
