"All right, we've got things all ready to go! The members of the Fa'e party will please report to the preparation room! Fa'e party, first call!"
The sticky Pacman controller was released, the console abandoned mid-game. "FINALLY!" It seemed like forever since Dusty and his Guardian had arrived here and staked out the table for their party, he was itching for some real game! In reality, it had probably been only half an hour... but that was a long, boring half-hour of waiting, in which there was nothing better to do but challenge Lethe at the various pieces of historical gaming set up around the lobby, try tricking Mitsu out of her game tokens with fake promises of "you can play next game, but first I have to finish this one, so I need another token", and otherwise waste as much time as possible.
As he walked, Dusty emptied out his pockets and dropped the contents off on the table reserved for their party. "Keep an eye on my stuff!" He ordered Arrien, who had taken up residence at the table to watch everyone's jackets and bags. Quirking a brow at the child's lack of tact, the Guardian considered her options. Dusty'd been excited about this gathering all week... so maybe she could see to let a bit of rudeness slide today. After all, he'd given into her demands to leave his sword at home- that counted for some brownie points, didn't it?
Secure in her logic, Arrien just rolled her eyes, answered, "have fun," and sipped at her glass of strawberry soda. If he threw more attitude later, maybe she'd pull him aside for one of those "behave or I'm taking away your allowance" talks. For now? She deserved a bit of time to enjoy herself, too, and she just didn't want to worry about it.

In complete, utter honesty, Sei wasn't quite sure what he was doing there. Oh wait, he knew exactly why - his guardian had found the poster in the HQ. Heck, he didn't even knew she actually still went there !
True, it had been a long time since he'd seen anyone beside Riven, but... the last major event he had went to had been pretty... boring. But then, love her as he did... his mother had been around. This quite limited the fun factor... and so far, there was no sign of the angel.
And the arcade, at least, had been quite fun. He'd had gotten enough time to break up a few egoes before the group was called - he took his jacket off to reveal the t-shirt behind, put it on the table with the other, and finally took the last sip of the can of soda before throwing it into the recycle bin and going on his way with the others.

She jumped as the announcement boomed through the building. Rat's tail began to prickle and wave nervously while Mitsu looked forlornly out the door. She never got to play... but she knew enough of Dusty's character to not push the issue.
With a sigh, she trotted out of the arcade room and into the lobby to their table, where Amaris sat munching popcorn and trying not to smear fake butter on a book. "'Maris..." she began, curling into herself. "... don't wanna."
"Don't wanna what?" Her guardian replied loudly, eyes glued to the page. She continued without waiting for her answer. "It'll be fine, Mitsu. The other kids'll look out for you. Stick with them, don't get lost, just yell if you need help. You'll do fine! Besides," she continued, finally turning to glance at the toddler, "it'll be good for you to interact with your peers in new and different ways, won't it?" She'd clearly been reading childrearing books. "Sometimes you need to take yourself out of your comfort zone to achieve new things. Don't sweat it, kid. And kick as much butt as you need to." This wisdom imparted, she returned to her novel.
Mitsuoujo stared blankly at her, having absorbed less than half of what the woman'd said, then turned to look at Arrien pitifully. "Bye, lady," she said mournfully, reaching into her pockets and depositing her last three tokens in front of Amaris, who patted the tiny pile and smiled privately. Feeling like a prisoner on death row, Mitsu then followed Dusty from a safe distance of at least five feet as Rat plodded alongside her in puppy-form.

The arcade games were total dinosaurs, and they were frustrating Darsais to no end - where was the Street Fighter and the DDR? Who'd ever heard of 'Pac Man' and 'Donkey Kong'? She was glad when the Fa'e party was called - it meant something more entertaining to do.
Darsais wasn't Fa'e, not by a long shot, but she knew several people who were. Like Sei, and Sei was here, which gave Darsais a pretty good reason to be here as well. If anyone asked, she was his guest. Even if she hadn't seen him yet, it was time to head in, and she figured she'd see him soon enough. She gave the neolithic machine a final kick and headed for the door, and spotted the back of a familiar blond on the way over.
"Hey!" she said happily, falling into stride beside Sei. "Ever played this before?"
Her hair was black today. Against all logic, it looked unnatural compared to the day-glo bright hues she usually wore it.

He really needed to discourage Stefan from ever going to HQ, if it meant things like his guardian noticing a poster for some stupid game and insisting that he needed to go be social and have fun...y'know, like a teenager. Except almost every time he bothered to go and mingle with his fellow Fa'e, something went wrong somehow. The only time something hadn't had been when he'd met Seung. The toddler had been sweet, cute, and relatively normal (if you didn't count her appearance). Mitsu, for some reason, had decided to hate his guts, while Dusty was just some punk kid, and as far as he could tell, everyone his age was just plain messed up.
In short, Mik most definitely did not want to be here; but Stefan had told him to, and so here he was. He really could have done with a few lessons in rebelliousness...of course, he would probably just have disapproved of them anyway.
He walked in just as the announcement was made, hands jammed stubbornly in his pockets, and glowered at his surroundings.

Lethe was not in a Good Mood. It was not in her nature to make this particularly obvious, though; yes, it was true that she stabbed machines with tokens as if they had just made a crack about her weight (or, no, her mother, or...? Not that even a machine would be able to figure out exactly where all of Lethe's weak points lay), but then again, it always took her a few times to find the right slot to put them into -- and of course the ribbons binding her wrists had always made certain things difficult. Right? It wasn't as if a River Fa'e was expected to know much about video games and playing them either, especially as she didn't have them at home -- how was she supposed to know she gripped controls like she was choking a living person and played Mortal Kombat with a little more physical intensity than was required of an activity that involved pressing buttons and tilting a joystick?
Probably just something in the air. Perhaps a little frustration at not getting to see her friends in so long. Maybe the way Mitsu kept giving her pathetic looks and hiding behind her, tangling into her legs and tripping her up in a desperate attempt to hide from hades-knows-what. Or something like the ends of her fingers being a little paler than the rest of her, nearly impossible to see -- if only because one could start to see through them. Or maybe just hormones.
Lethe unwrapped her fingers from the controls as Dusty left to leave his things with his guardians, and slowly turned to reconfirm the number of present Fa'e. It was too bad -- she was given the impression that laser tag required two teams, but as far as she could see, there wasn't anyone she wanted on the opposite one (useless cousins aside.) She would be on Dusty's team, no matter what; Mik, who had just appeared, was tall and could easily be used as a meatshield, so he would probably be next, and Sei had a way with electric things which probably extended to laser things, so he would doubtless be an important addition to the team, and --
Wait. Who was that?
Carefully making her way over to Sei in a way that didn't make it obvious she only felt it necessary due to the appearance of the other female, Lethe fell in line next to him and gave the duo a dazzling smile. "Hello!" She said, the picture of cheerfulness and friendliness. "Sei, who is this? I don't believe we've met." Translated: 'I didn't know you actually had girl-friends outside of your mother and I.'

Indeed, Sei did raise an eyebrow at Darsais's chosen hair color. It seemed almost... wrong for her to have a hair color so... so.... normal
Heaven forbid, was he getting used to all this wierdness and ******** ?
"Not really, but I did some target practice before, I wasn't half bad." Which technically wasn't a lie, but was still slightly emblished - after all, he couldn't look like a total newbie right in front of her.
...And Lethe.
Oh dear.
"Lethe ! It's been a long time, how have you been ?" He did a small grin. "I was hoping you'd be there..." In fact, Lethe was one of the few fa'e he had actually missed talking to. "This is Darsais - Dar, this is Lethe."

Lethe nodded, simultaneously relaxing a little and smiling a little more genuinely. "I've been good. Not a lot happening -- as you can probably tell.. No wings yet, or brilliant transformations, or powers to make the people fear." She shrugged good-naturedly, feeling a little of her bad mood fade away. "How are you? I've missed talking to you." Sei was one of those people it was very hard to stay dark around, as enabling as hanging out with Dusty had been.
Or, at least... She was fine up until 'Dar'. Oh, oh, so she had a nickname now? Alright so it was nearly impossible to shorten 'Lethe', at least in a way that she would actually approve of, but... "...Nice to meet you, Darsais. Um. So how do you two know each other?"
She seemed nice enough, which only served to make Lethe instantly dislike her even more.

"Oh, and Dusty!" Arrien barely called out to catch the deerkitten in time- he'd made it right to the door of the preparation room. Hesitating, he considered pretending that he hadn't heard his Guardian's call. It was really too late, though; he'd paused too long. Reluctantly, he turned around and gave a harrowing glare backwards, toward the table.
Unaffected, his Guardian smiled and called out- "Keep an eye on Mitsu, huh?" Having been privy to the toddler's cautious inquiry to Amaris, she thought it would be good to assign an older kid to watch her.
Dusty was not thrilled. "But we'll lose if we hafta slow down for her!"
"Tough," was the unsympathetic reply. "You'll have fun either way, so just make sure she doesn't get lost or something. I'll give you more tokens if you do a good job."
Grunting unhappily, Dusty shrugged a vague acceptance of his lot, and waited for Lethe and Mitsu both at the door to the prep room. He could just ditch the brat later- as long as he went in with her and came out with her, his Guardian would assume he did the job fine.

Flipper-feet and long skirts do not make the best combination for running, Seung was coming to realize. Here she was, nearly late for the first Fa'e get together she'd heard of in ages and she kept tripping on her way there! "Need to learn to fly. And soon," she resolved as she shook dust off her hanbok again. She wouldn't have been running late if Oma hadn't fussed so much. The mage somehow got it into her head that lasertag was dangerous and kept trying to get Seung to wear kneepads under her skirt. Said kneepads were tossed off five steps from the front door.
Seung scampered in after the first call was made. Looking around, she spotted some familiar faces gathering on one side of the room. And great, one of them was that ugly kitty person Dusty. But the mothfish perked up, seeing a taller and much nicer person (granted with a grumpy expression) standing there. "Mik! Anyong!" She bounced over to the teen. "Didn't know you were here. Why you look so unhappy?"

"Hi!" said Darsais, smiling at the new girl. She was cute in a young, doll sort of way. The blue dots on the cheeks were interesting... she'd have to try that out next time she dug up her makeup kit. Assumedly, this Lethe girl was Fa'e - Darsais felt like the odd man out. Which, indeed, given her age, she was already.
"We hang out at the same arcade," she explained, "We're Street Fighter and Dee-Dee-Arr champs!" she laughed and hopped around a bit as she walked. "Right, Sei?"
For a moment, the roots of her hair seemed indecisive about their color and started to turn sea green before quickly turning back to matte black. Darsais seemed not to notice.
"So, Lethe, how do you and Sei know each other?" she asked, trying to be friendly.

"Left! Left Fuzzy left!"
"No no you idiot, right! Your other left!"
While Twitch and Spark bickered, Kiba clung to the joystick with both tiny pink hands, wiggling it around gleefully while he mashed the buttons with his tail. Hee hee it moved! The yellow ball with a huge mouth on the screen kept moving this way and then that way! Oooh it ate the little circle! Yay! He was quite enjoying these "video games", much to his caretakers' chagrin. Considering the fact that Kiba enjoyed watching Pacman move across the screen rather than play the game, he seemed to die rather frequently. The sheer number of tokens that they had to shell out for every time he died while playing Pacman was taking its toll on their pocket money.
"Oh look, everybody's going that way. C'mon Fuzzy we can finish this later!"
Kiba allowed himself to be pulled away from his game, tottering after the twins as they headed towards the group of Fa'e. Oooh, look at all the people! The ratling chattered excitedly to himself as he fell in line being Dusty, Mitsu and Lethe. Where were they all going? The twins, for the most part, did their best to look nonchalant. After all, they had been promised a free round after their equipment hadn't worked the last round. If they just acted natural, hopefully they'd let them in with this group. What harm could it do to try?
