I thought it was pretty impressive for an episode filmed on only three sets. whee
And also I like it when they do a 'different' episode rather than just "Doctor and companion find monster, monster chases them, they chase monster, monster is beaten, end of story."

I actually really really liked it. I was expecting a crappy filler episode, but it was awesome.
My favourite Doctor Who stories are those based on fear, on psycology and what people do when faced in bad situations. If you look at human behaviour, we act exactly as those on that cruise ship thing did; they were paranoid and panicked, and suspicious of everyone, despite previously liking and talking to those around them, and then they did extremely irrational things that would never usually be done. The Doctor had NO control in what happened n the episode, which I thought was really refreshing, as he usually just comes up with something in the end that saves the day. It was very clever, and I loved it. And Donna being lazy, too.

I thought is was really, really good. And I can't think of anything to say about it. xD The whole confined space thing always works well. There really wasn't anywhere to run. And there wasn't all that much story, but it didn't feel like it was being padded out... my favorite episode this season, definitely. EDIT: I just remembered what this reminded me off - the Angel episode Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been, with the paranoia dæmon... they even almost killed the guy who was trying to help them.

I don't even know where to begin on that one.... This episode was scary and sad. I felt so bad for the crew, the hostess and Sky. I wanna know what that thing was but I also don't. I don't think I have ever seen the doctor... well this doctor... that terrified. He was totally helpless.
The preview for next week kinda scares me. It looks like things might go very badly... I am also a Rose fan and well... she spit out a canned this season Martha line which angers me if it being used in the same context. She said "I was like you" to Donna. I wanted her to at least... be herself. The Rose that left The Doctor would have run up to him and hugged him and been all... omg hes my doctor. I realize she works for Torchwood in her universe now but still... I don't see how that could change her too much. She was willing to give up her entire life for The Doctor.

To be honest I didn't care for it too much. I may need to give it another watch sometime though. It just seemed to be too much of everyone yelling at each "What is it".
I did love how Rose made an appearance in the episode! Plus another reference to planets missing. Seems to be building up to something good I'm hoping!!!

Alright. I was going to swear off all Doctor Who threads and forums until I watched the finale of the finale, but I had to, I had to leave a comment of Midnight. And what I have to say is this.
HOLY !@#$. HOLY F%$^G !@#$. I CAN'T HANDLE THESE SUSPENSE FILLED THINGS. I nearly crapped and pissed myself at the same time from all the tension. I was breathing so hard I got dizzy. Because of both of those reactions I had to pause the episode so I could go to the toilet and then rehydrate myself because my mouth was dry. I think I may have sweated a bit. Dammit, I can't handle this crap.
And screw Rose, another Medusa Cascade mention! What the heck is up with that?

this episode was good, but I was mostly waiting for the tralier at the end, and I must say I'm really worried about Turn Left. Mostly because the way Rose was acting, was so ... Not like her, I really don't want her to change, And all through the series she hasnt really felt like Rose, if that makes any sense. (Fangirl Alert) Awwww I get so upset when the Doctor doesnt see Rose, like when I was rewatching Partners in Crime the other day I started Begging the Doctor to go with Donna, and then In Midnight I started screaming Turn Around! at the TV, but I really hope Rose hasnt changed to much

Glad to see I wasn't the only one screaming at the TV when Rose showed up, besides my dad and sister anyway.
The story would've been freaky enough without feeling a personal connection with the monster. I mean, imitating people almost like that is the basis for my whole personality. Without a psychologist I can only analyze this trait so much but I figure that I'm so desparate to not become my mother that I latch onto any independent, authoritative, clever (usually fictional) figure that I like enough and start subconciously imitating their mannerisms. My sister pointed out that sometimes I act like the Doctor...a little too much.
Anyway, personal connections and life-story aside, I liked the episode, disturbing though it was. For every ounce of potential we have, it seems that there is at least a pound of complete detestability inherent in the human condition. But I can't say that I would react in a similar fashion if placed in that situation, which is the most disturbing thing about it. I thought that I was a little more open-minded and calmer in emergency situations but I can't guarantee that I wouldn't jump on the "let's kill the possible threat" bandwagon. I feel, at best, I would react like Jethro: conflicted and almost unable to think for myself. But the most maddening thing was that Jethro's mom was so quick to deny her involvment against the Doctor and wouldn't apologize for it when it was apparant he knew she was lying through her teeth. Dee Dee's reaction was admirable, to a point. She was the one fairly able to keep a level head but had no confidence to stand by her convictions against the paniced mob. I don't know what to think about the Hostess. She started with the most dispicable qualities and ended with the most redeeming. What does that say about her, personally? I dunno.

This is absolutely one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes, ever. I love things with a psychological slant to them. An episode like this makes a person question how they would react in a similar situation.
And, I need to take a moment to go:
AAAW OH MY GOD DOCTOR AAAAAAAAAAAWWWW! sad sad sad crying

That was DEFINITELY a textbook example of what Doctor Who is all about. Suspenseful, thought-provoking, and just brilliant acting and writing. I f there were a couch in our poorly constructed living room, i would've hidden behind it. Cheers, RTD. Looks like you're going out with a bang!!

So far I like it. xd I'm watching the episode on Youtube since England is ahead of us Americans. This one and the Silence In The Library episode have to be my favorites so far.

One of the best this series and thats saying something cinsidering that it's usually at this point that we see all the crappy stories, but what with the two parters not being much cop, it makes sense that we'd get a suprisingly great story here.

I can't make up mind on this ep. Davids acting was spectacular as always but something about it felt very strange. Was it a shorter episode or am I just going crazy?

Have to admit, I was genuinely creeped out by this one!
I don't like it when the Doctor isn't in control, and when he admitted he was scared too, I thought "OK, so what hope do the rest of them have!?"
David's performance was one of the strongest I've seen him do, and that takes some doing!!
