Julien was grinning as he shifted the backpack on his shoulders. It was still rather big for him, but that didn't seem to bother him in the slightest as he made his way up to Felicity's front door, just assuming that Mireille would be right behind him. Not that he had to worry, for Mireille had grabbed her purse and locked the car before moving to follow Julien up to the house, her shy instincts overshadowed by maternal worry.
They hadn't packed much, really... a water bottle, a towel, some heavy proof sunscreen and, of course, the brand new bathing trunks that Mireille had bought for Jules when she realized that, for all that he'd come out of an egg, he'd likely want to do normal things like swimming and playing in the hose. As it stood, this was his first actual chance to use the things, and Mireille found herself just a touch excited at the thought of seeing him play in them, as though that somehow made him more... more what? More alive? More human? More hers? Whatever the more, she was excited.
Julien reached up, knocking on the door without hesitation, and bouncing just a bit on the balls of his feet as he waited for an answer. Today was likely to be fun, and he couldn't wait to get started.

“We have a few people coming over today and I want you to be on your best behavior. Do you got me Toulouse?” Felicity talked as she readied a basket of goods in preparation for the trip to the lake. She wasn’t sure what her guests would like so she had made a bit of everything. The food was really there just to stave off the stomach growls in case anyone got hungry on the trip. “Oui, I know.” Toulouse replied from the living room. He was currently bent over stuffing towels, goggles, and sunscreen into a yellow beach bag. He was already dressed in a pair of red Hawaiian swim trunks and almost ready to go. “Do you promise to be nice?” Felicity asked skeptically from the kitchen. She had just finished putting the last of the assorted sandwiches into the basket. She wasn’t sure that she trusted Toulouse to be nice especially when it went against everyone fiber of his wry being. “I said I would and I am. A gentleman never goes back on his word.” Toulouse said solemnly, his French accent coming on a bit strong. “I won’t embarrass you like last time if that’s what you are worried about.” “I wasn’t embarrassed, just uncomfortable.” The trip to Barton plaza flashed in her mind and Felicity suppressed a shudder. That had not been a good experience and she didn’t want to have to relive it again. “I think that the lady protests to much.” Toulouse laughed from the other room. His accent was again, thicker. Toulouse only let his French voice slip when he his feelings got the better of him. Felicity hoped it was a case of excitement and not hesitation. Felicity so wanted the day to go well and she certainly didn’t want the golden boy hiding behind his usual arrogant façade. Felicity pushed back the feelings of unease growing in her stomach about Toulouse. It was a nice day out and the company would be even nicer. A trip to the lake was an absolutely perfect way for Toulouse to get out of the house and make some new friends. At least she hoped he made some friends. He was so harsh and adult-like at times that people just didn’t understand his unusual predicament.
A knock on the door startled Felicity out of here reverie.
“Mon Dieu!” Toulouse yelped with some kind of unreadable emotion. He came into the kitchen with the yellow bag in hand, clad in nothing but his cute trunks. “They are here. I shall get the door I think.”

"Hello, Toulouse," Mireille said when he opened the door, offering a quiet smile down at him. My, but didn't the blond offer an adorable picture in his trunks, all ready for the lake? She managed to hide most of the grin, though it lurked in her eyes.
"Hi," Julien said brightly, grinning openly at Toulouse. "I remember you from the fountain." He stuck out a hand in greeting, no hesitation or shyness in his eyes. And as he did, he edged just a bit in front of Mireille. "Mind if we come in?"

Toulouse was taken aback for a moment at the cheerfulness of the small boy on his doorstep. His first reaction was to look haughty, but remembering what he had promised Felicity earlier, Toulouse all but pounced on Julien in his eagerness to make Felicity like him at least a little. He had a feeling the girl hated him just a bit. “Salut Julien!” Instead of taking the boy’s outstretched hand, he greeted him the French way with a kiss to both cheeks. “Bonjour Mademoiselle Mireille.” Toulouse said after stepping back from Julien. “Come in s'il vous plaît. Felicity is in the kitchen and will be out shortly to greet you properly.” Toulouse stepped out the doorway, ushering his guests in. There he thought. Nothing to shocking in that. He was determined to make friends with the boy Julien and make Felicity happy at the same time.

Both guardian and Ashe blinked at the French greeting, but where Mireille was left with a faintly bemused look on her face as she stepped inside, Julien's smile was blinding. Personal space? What was that? Hooking an arm through Toulouse's, Julien grinned. "Call me Jules," he invited Toulouse. "It's my nickname. Mireille gave it to me, just after she gave me the name Julien Michel." In truth, he seemed rather proud of all three of his names. "I like your house. It's really nice," he added after a moment, making no effort to touch anything other than the arm he'd co-opted. But his eyes flicked everywhere, taking in each nuance.
"It's good to see you again, Toulouse," Mireille offered, once Julien was done chattering at him. "I like your trunks. Looks like you're all ready to jump into the water." The words felt awkward, but Mireille was rather used to that. The only person who really felt comfortable to talk to anymore was her friend Robin. ...And Julien, now, but he was too sweet for her to be hesitant with him.

“Marvelous, absolutely marvelous!” Toulouse crowed patting Jules on the arm in a friendly manner. “Of course I shall call you Jules. Sadly I have but one name, Toulouse you see. However, you‘re splendid name shall make up for the lack of my own though.” He beamed at Jules flashing him his pearly whites, impressed by the child's name. “Thank you Mme. Mireille. It is also pleasant to see you again too .” Toulouse added after leading the two into the living room. “I am so very glad that you like the cottage Jules. It does have a certain je ne sais quoi doesn’t it? I hope that you both are looking forward to the lake as much as I am. Please, sit down?” Toulouse said offering the couch with a flick of his golden hair. Felicity’s mouth was twitching at the corners as she tried to suppress a laugh. She had been watching the whole scene from the kitchen. Toulouse was being a perfect gentleman like he had promised, but Felicity didn’t think that his good humor would last long. Toulouse acted so much like an old uncle she once knew. On minute up in high spirits, the next he was down. Optimistic. She had to be optimistic. Giggling, Felicity made her way to her guests, abandoning the food basket for the moment. “Hello again Mir.” She smiled pushing back the shyness that her hermit tendencies had caused. “I hope you didn’t have to tough a time finding the house. These country roads can be so confusing sometimes. Even I still get lost.”

Julien chuckled, sitting down. He was clearly rather enjoying this side of Toulouse, and seemed just a touch reluctant to let go of the other boy's arm, though once he was on the couch, he reached for a throw pillow to curl his arms around. "Your name is nice, though. It makes me think of dancing," he offered, though for the life of him, he couldn't say just why he thought of that with Toulouse's name. It just... came to mind. "I've never been swimming before, really. I'm a bit worried about how I'll do. Will you show me?" Julien added after a moment, not seeming particularly worried about appearing somehow lesser for it.
Mireille just smiled, watching the two boys for a long moment before turning to Felicity with a smile. "A few wrong turns, but nothing we couldn't backtrack and fix. Is there anything I can do to help before we go? I wasn't quite sure what we should bring."

“Oh, thank you my boy! It’s right up there with the Courante and the Waltze I suppose.” Toulouse laughed thoroughly amused. "I'm not sure if I could help you swim any better than myself. I haven't swam in...oh, ages and ages. Perhaps it will be like riding a bike. One never forgets these things hopefully. Don't worry though. You'll catch on quick in any case.." He eyed Jules pleasantly curious. He wondered if the fair haired boy was like him. Did he remember everything or nothing at all? Toulouse cursed his existence for what it was and wished to be more like Jules. He decided to talk more with the boy and ascertain whether it was safe to divulge his secret. They couldn’t be that different could they? Felicity frowned seeing the strange look upon Toulouse’s face. It meant something but she didn’t know what. She turned to Mir and smiled faintly. “That’s great that you found the house so easily. There really isn’t much left to do I don’t think. I have extra towels packed along with some sunscreen and bottled water. There’s also some food I’ve prepared for when we get up to the lake. It’s mostly just potato chips, deviled eggs, and turkey sandwiches. I can make something else if you like too, so don't hesitate to ask." Felicity paused in thought. "I don’t think I’m forgetting anything but I usually do.” Felicity shrugged with a laugh. “Oh! Feel free to use the washroom if you need to change into your suits.”

Julien nodded, taking in the concept that Toulouse was far older than he appeared with apparent ease. He didn't question the concept at all, though he considered. "I have yet to ride a bike, too," he finally offered, a grin on his lips. "I'm sure we'll both be just fine if we're careful."
Mireille tilted her head at the frown, but didn't ask about it. Perhaps something had been said that caught Felicity wrong... "Ah, thank you. We do need to, though we've already applied a first coat of sunscreen, at least. The food sounds wonderful, really. I'm sure it'll be plenty." She reached into her purse and pulled out a bit of cloth. "I'll be right back," she offered, ducking into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.
Watching her go, Julien chuckled. "I think she's looking forward to this," he offered to Felicity and Toulouse both. "She spends a lot of time writing. It's a good thing for us to go out sometimes."

“I do not think that there is much chance of that dear Jules.” Toulouse replied brightly. “The lake is such a placid place and there is not much room for accidents. Isn’t that what you said ma puce?” Toulouse turned to look a Felicity pointedly. “I told you to stop calling me that. I don’t even know what it means.” Felicity cried exasperated at Toulouse’s irritating pet name for her. She turned to Julien. “Anyhow Julien don’t worry about anything happening. It’s perfectly safe.” She assured him, then added, “Do you think as an author Mir would maybe like to see my books sometime? I have a whole slew of them in my basement.” Felicity secretly hoped that Mir would like to see her books. Felicity could spend hours mulling over them in a fervor. It was always so wonderful to meet a kindred spirit in the way of books. Most people didn’t understand why she was so fascinated by the multitudes of famous and unknown pieces of literature. It was her hobby and passion. “Oh do not bother her with the books. I thought we were going to the lake today. Focus my dear. Remember, we all need to get some sunlight like Jules already said.” Toulouse said noticing the heated look in Felicity’s eye which miraculously appeared whenever she thought of books.

Ever the diplomat, Julien spoke up before Felicity could get too disappointed. "I'm sure she'd love to see them. But maybe we could come back another time for that?" He moved to rest a hand on Felicity's sleeve, then pulled back as Mireille made her way out of the bathroom in a sapphire one-piece that fit her nicely.
"Jules, go get your trunks on, please," she directed, nodding to the bathroom. He ducked inside with his backpack, and Mireille looked at the others as she drew a little translucent blue wrap around her, the filmy fabric barely protecting her. "Come back for what?"

Felicity almost didn’t tell Mir as a moment of nervousness overtook her. Knowing that Julien would probably mention it sometime in the future, Felicity swallowed her sudden unease and over protectiveness of her books. She vaguely wished she felt the same kind of thing for Toulouse, but somehow she just couldn’t drudge up any kind of maternal sympathy for him. He was just too strange and too…old. “I was just saying,” She began, “That maybe sometime you could come back and take a look at my library down stairs. I have this whole collection of books and you being a writer…well, I thought you might be interested is all.” Felicity ducked her head, ignoring the slightly disgusted look that Toulouse gave her. She resisted the urge to glare at the twerp thinking that no everyone could be as outspoken and sure of as himself.

He had to admit; he’d been surprised when he’d received the invite to take Rioge bathing in the lake with some other Ashe children, both of whom were Seelies. However Araran simply assumed that it was common knowledge that he was Rioge’s guardian – Rioge had been the first Unseelie to hatch after all – or that the other guardians had been informed about him through Marzipan, the messenger Ashe that took it upon herself to help the interaction between the younger Ashe. He wasn’t entirely sure why it would be enjoyable to go swimming, it was something that water fae enjoyed but he was more of a woodland fae and had only swum during his training to be a royal guard and that had hardly been an enjoyable experience.
But still, it was politeness and the will to get Rioge making more friends that made him accept. The small blue haired Ashe had only really made one Ashe friend, and that had only been a brief encounter at the gardens of the world centre. This was the perfect opotunity for Rioge to interact with people his own age.
”Well, I do believe we push this button here?” he mused, finger poised over the doorbell. Such things were rarely used within the Unseelie court and everything mortals knew and used was quite an experience for one who rarely strayed far from the court. Rioge, who was by his adopted father’s side, nodded in agreement and stretched up; trying to reach the button himself. Araran smiled tenderly and lifted the child up so he could press it. The shrill alert that someone was at the door rung out throughout the house and hopefully they’d react swiftly.

Mireille smiled warmly at Felicity, completely missing the disgusted look from Toulouse. "I'd love that, but definitely another time. I'm sure Jules would probably love to come back, too. He seems to get along rather well with Toulouse," she added, offering the tow-headed boy a grin. She started to say more, then blinked as the doorbell rang, looking over at it, though she made no move toward it. It wasn't her home, after all...
"I'm ready," Julien said, stepping out of the bathroom just in time to hear the doorbell as well. He was clad in a pair of bright purple swimtrunks with golden stars all over them, and a pair of blue goggles hung around his neck.

Felicity was glad that Mir has expressed an interest in her books! She was about to say so when the doorbell rang successfully interrupting her. “I shall get it.” Toulouse jumped up from the couch and walked sedately over to the door. He wondered who else Felicity could have invited because she sure had not told him anything about the matter. Another one of her idiosyncrasies he supposed. No wonder that sister in-law of hers was always being so bothersome. Toulouse reached the door and before opening it, plastered a smile on his face that did quite reach his eyes. He opened the door to reveal a man and another Ashe. The Ashe looked just like all the other children, and while the man standing next to him looked normal there was something…utterly wrong and Toulouse hated himself for not remembering. There was something about the man that he should remember…but what? “Mon Dieu! Je crois que c'est une garde de la cour de justice sombre!” Flashes of memory assailed Toulouse’s mind and he was caught up in a irrational dread of whose origins he could not remember nor place. Something hot and cold had fallen into the pit of his stomach. “Go away!” He cried slamming the door into the visitor’s face. He promptly ran past Jules into the bathroom and locked the door shut. “Toulouse!” Felicity shouted horrified. What happened to her little gentleman? Getting up quickly to try and rectify the situation, Felicity opened the door again with an embarrassed smile on her face. “I am so, so, so sorry. I have no idea what has gotten into him. Please come in and make yourselves at home.”
[[The French is "My God. I think it is a guard from the dark court of justice!" I forgot that Araran was an ex court guard. This is going to lead to some peculiar problems for Toulouse.]]
