I think I'll start out with some amusing facts. Everyone loves amusing facts, right?

* My username is not religiousy in nature. Saint Savin is the surname of a character in my favorite novel, The Island of the Day Before by Umberto Eco. I try to use this as my SN anywhere I can online, but there is at least one other person attempting the same thing. I am always in competition with him or her when new services pop up. If you read the book, you will find this is funny. And you should read it! But mostly for other reasons.

* I recently celebrated fifteen years of this writing business.

* I have an LJ: http://saintsavin.livejournal.com/
The contents of my LJ breaks down like this:
30% Writerly Angst
30% BJDs
30% Improbable things that happen to me
10% Crazy fannish nonsense
GO THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK XD

* I listen to techo, pace compulsively and consume absurd amounts of coffee while writing.

* I started The Doorstop for NaNoWriMo 2007. And I won! I just didn't get finished with it in 50K, and I didn't really expect to.

* I already have an outline going for my next project.

I'm writing now, but I was swimming earlier and I'm a wee bit tired. It seems like I've been slogging away on Part 1 of this damn thing for ages. I expect Part 2 will go faster now that I'm pretty much done establishing stuff, but I am finally annoyed! I'm almost kind of happy about that.

ARGH!

I had a crappy day up until the last. Everything that could go wrong did.

I just want to sleep.

We all have those days. I feel you, totally. Just don't let it interfere with your writing or your sanity in general and I do hope today is a better day.

P.S. coffee for the win.

I can completely relate with that. I wish I could sleep all the time. One day I did sleep for 12 hours-when I woke up I was still tired. XD Just don't let it get you down. Life goes on-and it gets better all the time! Besides-you did a great job cheering me up at my journal!

First of all- You guys! #^_^# *glompage all around*

I didn't get much done today- I was mostly trying to clear up everything that happened yesterday. You know, I love having BJD hoarding as my thing that I do when I'm not writing, but I rather dislike when this so-called hobby gets in the way of writing!

I think I might have gotten our mail carrier fired or at least relocated. The teeny little Asian girl I swapped delivery slips with said it was her first day on this route. Hopefully, there will be less drama from now on.

Plus, I had to make bread. Well, that's fun and relaxing. I made a lightly seasoned rustic French loaf.

Last night I dreamed that I was working on something besides the Doorstop. It was really angsty and surreal and everyone had French names. Very cool! I might use some of the things I remember in other stories some day.

I'm at 127K and the going is a wee bit slow since I'm in the middle of a very important conversation.

I ended up having a really good night tonight! It was slow going at first, and I had to keep going back and tweaking the course of the conversation, but in the end... it came out really funny methinks. Not quite funny in the way I intended originally, but still funny. This whole chapter has been a bit more melancholy than I anticipated. I might fix it come editing, I might not. At the very least, i fully expect Part 1 to drop by at LEAST 15% during editing. I over-write like whoa.

It's been quite interesting going with my current characters. I did really detailed sheets for them before I started, but they keep surprising me. I didn't even really hit any kind of stride with Male Lead #1 until around Page 150. Yipes. I think because of that I've just gotten all the more attached to him.

But I WILL be glad when part 1 is over. It's gone on so very, very long.

I HAVE DECIDED.

I am going to finish Part 1 TONIGHT.

Now, watch me fail like whoa.

Aww, don't have that attitude! With enough determination, perseverance, and Kool-aid, anything is possible!

Be optimistic! I don't think you'll fail. You can do eet!

We were out of Kool-aid, so I had to go with coffee ice cream.

But!

I DID IT!

I'll neaten my outline for Part 2 over the weekend and start drafting on Monday.

YOU DID IT! blaugh

You must be so happy! Great job! And coffee ice cream is equally good sustenance. Yay.

I'm very happy indeed. Thank you everyone for encouraging me heart heart heart .

I'm also quite tired, but that's somewhat related to the fact it's Friday.

I fully expect that the 131K I have now will shrink to 110K during editing. Maybe even 100K. But that's OK. My writing is like making pan sauce. Not so good if you don't reduce it! wink

I already have a list of things to fix. Some of Part 1 is getting moved to part 2. There's a tiny subplot that goes nowhere that I'm going to drop- Male Lead #1 doesn't need any more angst! And two of the chapters are really badly paced.

Err, bottom line: my job is just getting started. But I'm having a good time!

Woohoo! Congrats on at least completing Part 1. It could just be my opinion, but finishing a piece is harder than editing it, so you've got most of the battle won! *Saluting you with her Mocha Madness.*

*toasts with iced coffee biggrin *

I'm tweaking the outline for Part 2 right now. I will at least attempt to get to turning it into prose tomorrow.

Oh, and as to WHY Part 2 wasn't in any way organized- I would get ideas while I was working on other parts and kept sticking them down at the bottom! What a mess that made. But, I only had to move two or three of them into the sequel. The once scene I had to work to fit in? Ended up with only one place it really fit. It's a bit sudden after a rather large cast increase, but I hope to be able to do some amusing things with the newly arrived characters WTFing it big time at the wedding.

I believe The Doorstop is actually book one of five or six. I only have really solid ideas for five books, but there's this other idea floating around that I keep threatening to make cannon. Hence mentioning the sequel.

I sewed all day yesterday and still got nothing finished, but I like to work on tenish things at once since doll clothes don't take long. You get a bunch going though and that's not so great. Oddly enough, thats the opposite of how I've learned I like to write. One project being written and one being outlined? That's PLENTY.

I read some of my draft of Part 1 over last night- it's not bad at all! It's cute and a little aimless, but that's fine. For now. *revs chainsaw*

I wasn't planning to go back to work tonight, but I sat down at the computer and the next thing I knew I'd cranked out 800ish words. Since when have I been coming up on page 300?

Oh geeze, this means...

If I can pass page 321, it will be the longest thing I've ever written 4laugh .
