Usually pretty much straight away for most things i think,
but yeah...weird but I liked it. smile
The minute he turned off the light in the helmet though i was wondering how long it would take to turn into just the vashta nerada... rolleyes
though poor river song at the end.. i mean I didnt like her much most of the time but still awww.... sad

So River and the Doctor will be a couple... Figures xd

I liked the Vashda Narada. I wonder if they'll get more action this series, based on the mid-series trailer? Are they seriously just going to get that whole awesome library to themselves? I mean.... What if people want to read there? Will they quarantine it? Or was the Doctor so scary that they're just going to leave on their own?

Donna's reactions were win once again, but everyone's life in the computer seemed a little too melodramatic for my taste. At least the guy saw her in real life before he was teleported, so he can try to find her in the 51st century! Er... ^_^

The snapping!!! (Is that because the TARDIS loves him?)

It seems really dangerous to just leave the future book and screwdriver out where anyone can use them. I hope they rethought that after the episode ended.

The next episode looks exciting. Everyone trapped on a space bus. Definitely more my style!

Did they intentionally leave the fate of the Vashta Narada vague? They never really concluded what happened to it after the Doctor told it off. Plot hole or is this just not the last we've seen of it?

Highlights of the episode: Snapping and the Doctor in handcuffs. Oh yeah. I know you squeers like that.

Heeeeeeee!

I guess I'm a squeer!
When River had died and he was still handcuffed and he looked so sad and was....yeah...

Anyways, I'm assuming Donna got him out? I hope she meets that guy again, they really were perfect for eachother.

Considering anyone that enters the planet now will be eaten alive by the Vashta Narada, I'm fairly certain The Doctor knew that leaving the diary and screwdriver in the Library would more or less keep it out of anyone's hands forever. Including his own.

The Vashta Narada said "You have one day." Meaning that The Doctor had one day to get everyone out and leave. And until then the Vashta Narada would leave them alone, giving him enough time to evacuate everyone.

After everyone left, it is implied that the Vashta Narada would come back out of dormancy and rule the abandoned planet forever.

I understand what is implied, but it just seemed very odd that they'd end it that way. This whole great library and they just leave it to quite possibly the largest, hungriest Vashta Narada in the universe and then The End? It just doesn't feel very resolved.

Hey! Didn't you guys watch the mid-series trailer? The very first line they open with is "Some people have an irrational fear of the dark, but they're wrong..." and then they cut to "all the stars are going out!"....Vashta Nerada, anyone? eek

Nice poll, tennantsbutterfly! mrgreen

Anyway, I liked this story, for the most part. On the plus side, even though it wasn't too hard to guess that CAL was the little girl, I thought it was good how the story explained why CAL was a real girl plugged into a computer and stuck in the middle of a library... it all ties together. And the explanation for why the Vashta Narada were in the library in the first place also works.

I didn't like the sort of 'everybody lives' ending we got, though. Not because I don't like happy endings, but because... well... aren't River Song and her three friends all really dead? It's not like Donna and the others who were saved... River and co. were outright killed, and their 'echo of life' was somehow saved by CAL. But it's not really them, is it? If that's the case, I don't even know why the Doctor bothered to put River in the computer at all. In essence, she's just an electronic copy of the woman... nothing more. What's the point?

What I found interesting were the Rose references through River Song. I don't know if they were on purpose or just coincidence, but first was of course, "I'd trust that man to the end of the universe, and actually, we've been."
Rose's first adventure with the good ol' Doc.
The other one that really stood out for me was, "Everybody lives," when River Song was talking at the end, supposedly from her diary. (Which is why I'm guessing the Doctor left it behind, they put the books there for the little girl, CAL, to read. River now has the diary forever.)
9 was yelling, "Just this once, Rose, everybody lives!" at the conclusion of "The Doctor Dances," when the nanogenes fixed the people back up.

If anyone caught any other little things like that, please share. Those two were the ones that really just stuck out for me.

I think he'll be the reason River Song never meets Donna.

And I reckon he has always been able to do that, just never tried.

*Finishes watching the episode and runs around the rooms screaming "River Song is Rose! La la la la! River Song is Rose! La la la la! River Song is Rose! La la la la! They played Rose's theme when River whispered his name in his ear, then a bunch of other times when they were looking at her! River Song is Rose! La la la la! Maybe it's her reincarnated or something, but why else would they play her theme, if it wasn't her? River Song is Rose! La la la la!*

I reckon she is Rose. Then it'd aaaaaall make sense, to me. Especially as to what will happen to Rose. Yes.

I'm sorry, the intended sadness of River's death scene completely went over my head due to bondage!Doctor.

I didn't like that bit with Donna's guy actually being real. I don't know why that irked me so much. I absolutely loved the way to us, the viewer, time passed normally as it does on TV, but that that was all that actually happened to the people as well. That was slightly brain-frying but really clever, I thought.
