As the sun began to set and the full moon began to rise into the sky, Tembezishaha sat on top of the hill, looking out to the jungle while his children laughed and played among the other adults. This was indeed the perfect night for a celebration, and a much needed one, at that. Matawi had brought Kucha to the troupe and the babies had been born and he had seen Mafu again for the first time in so long. And now he was going to be seeing Kweupe and her newborn cubs.
Of course, he had no idea what else was to come. Kweupe stood within the jungle, just on the edge, surrounded by her little ones. "Now, we'll leave as soon as your papa and uncle get here. Malaika, stop that!" the dust-and-gold cheetah giggled a little at her daughter and waggled her paw at her "angel". "Or you'll have to sit out of the celebration." Malaika jumped and looked guilty at being caught trying to catch Han's tail in her paws. So, instead, she just pounced Han, laughing as she did so.

It was always risky leaving the safety of the troupe. Lucia scolded him frequently for his eagerness to work alone. He did it far too often for her liking. Taban couldn't help but chuckle a bit. She'd talked him into taking Bai Feng along. It wasn't a dangerous errand by any means. Not that she could have stopped him if it had been... there was always the off chance that stories and rumors were misleading, there was always the off chance that the members of this other troupe would be aggressive- then again there was always the off chance that the sky would fall or elephants would decide they craved flesh.
Living life by chance was a fool's dance.
Another troupe was encouraging. There were others like them, others that refused to live by the confines of a territory, others that saw past the pelt!
"Slow down." Bai Feng's strong voice interrupted the younger cheetah's mental musing. "You're getting excited again..."
"Sorry." Taban offered an apologetic smile over a shoulder and slowed his pace to lope beside the white cheetah once more.
Another troupe... the stories they must have, the knowlege they could guard! The potential alone was staggering. Rumors were rumors afterall. Every one had some merit to it, but for the truth he'd have to see this troupe with his own eyes.
They'd been traveling for two days at a cheetah's loping pace. Both cheetahs were quite used to living on their feet, the walk had been nothing though neither would be opposed to a rest. Taban was the smaller of the two, but for his young age he'd already grown into an impressive build. His chest and shoulders sported powerful muscle development, more so than seemed natural for a cheetah. His life in the underground had been taxing on his slender body, and living among the lions of the deep had forced him to push his limits. He wore a stone necklace around his neck and wooden hoops on his front paws, both sporting at least a few bright colors.
Bai Feng was the taller of the two, and obviously a bit older. His frame was that of a proper cheetah in nearly every aspect. His mantle ran a bit longer along his back than most cheetahs, a bright red stripe down his back to contrast the white of his body. He wore a man's coursing harness and collar, a bright crimson leather with golden buckles fashioned to look like the heads of dragons clasping the hoops and rings of the straps that ran along his chest and part of his belly.
Shaharazad sat with her hind legs sprawled to either side of her and her front paws resting right inbetween them. Her sister's antics had her attention for the moment. Both ears stood erect, eyes wide, and neck craned a bit, bobbing now and then, as she watched Malaika play with the tail. It looked like fun!
However, just as the cub started to stretch her own paw out for the fluffy thing, Malaika stopped. She looked between their mother and the tail once more and slowly dropped her paw back into place. Best not then.

Chui had fallen behind, a long sigh escaping him as he approached the edges of his home. Selfishly, he'd gotten up a bit early that morning to have a walk around. Since the birth of the cubs, it'd been nonstop fatherhood, and it was nice to have some time to himself again. At least for the hour or so that he'd been walking.
The trip allowed him some time to take in some memories of the place for the time he'd be gone with Kweupe and their cubs. He would be coming back, he knew, but it still pained him to have to leave and travel once more. Even if it was only temporary. Eventually, his salmon orbs soon landed on six distant figures, a smile then beginning to tug at the edges of his maw. He'd finally caught up.
He gave each of his cubs a loving nuzzle before padding up to Kweupe's side, giving her a nuzzle in greeting before sighing yet again. "So...off we go then?" Han had been turned, his back facing the lands past the jungle's borders, blue eyes looking down the path they had taken to get there. He was looking for signs of his father, who had gone missing for the morning. Though his mother had reassured him that he would catch up, the little cub couldn't help but worry. He was...very attached to Chui, after all.
Soon enough his father's figure emerged, and Han stood, a wide smile spreading itself across his maw...until, of course, Malaika had decided to pounce him. He landed flat on his belly, the thud followed by a loud 'oof' coming from him. "Hey!" he started, trying to crawl out from underneath his sister. "Get off! C'mon! You're getting my pelt all dirty!" And his protesting went on..
