Ok, so I'm doing this project in math and I have to find the surface area & volume of a building. It's an irregular octagonal prism & the roof is an irregular octagonal pyramid. I found the surface area by breaking up the shapes and adding them together, but Im stuck on the volume. I know how to find the prism part of it, but how would I find the roof? sweatdrop

Ehhh, not really sure what the question is, but the volume of a pyramid is always a third of the area of the base times the height, or 1/3Bh

uhm well it is basically an octagonal pyramid but longer.. you know what I mean? Waiit I have a picture! I'll go upload that. sweatdrop Swet here it is.

I have no clue but my logical guess is,
s1*s2*s3*s4*s5*s6*s7*s8*h
Thats my guess. Get the measurement of each edge, I think, and use the pathagreom therom(sp?) to get the height.

Yeah, I agree with Nisa. Doing that will be the most effective way of finding the measurement. wink
