Okay, first off, Sorry I haven't been here. I always forget to check out the guilds. P: So, I'm going to *try* to stay here. Morgan, mind PMing me every time I vanish? >w> ANYWAYS, here's what I have to say about airbending.
Do you think airbending is too weak of an element, being it's just air, (I know, you get many abilities with air, but STFU Right now~) but honestly, air couldn't kill anybody. neutral OR do you think it's just that Aang's too afraid to kill? The only way I could see an airbender killing someone is by concusion.

Air seems more of a defensive/evasive bending ability. Of course if the wind blade was made razor sharp then Aang might be able to do serious damage, but he is too kind-hearted to outright "kill". Most likely he'd knock out or incapacitate his opponent.

You all seem to forget that direct violence is against the monk's pacifistic way of life. Airbending is largely defensive and evasive, while it's opposite (Earthbending) is direct and offensive. You also forget that in the episode The Desert Aang very effectively kills the Buzzard Wasp that takes Momo.

Yeah, but just because they're an air monk doesn't mean they'll follow the rules all the time; you always have a bad guy in every culture or whatever~ Yes, he did, but he was fuled on anger and what not, right? =B

Just because they don't use their abilities to harm doesn't mean they can't. Anger has nothing to do with it, all the bending abilities are nigh raw power, very rarely do you grow up with a certain type of thinking constantly pushed on you do you begin to think the exact opposite.

He could hurt someone badly with a nicely placed razor wind thing.

I personally believe air can be one of the more dangerous of the elements. What do we breath with every breath? What if that was taken from us? We would suffocate, would we not? Die a slow and often painful death if the bender so chose to literally, "take our breath away"? It can be done, as we see Aang bend the air into a cyclone as this typically will draw the air away from the center and push it out. Imagine manipulating all the oxygen in the blood stream as well. That could be an intense death. Just like blood bending for water benders, imagine the air benders bending the oxygen in our lungs and bloodstreams.
I personally am very happy the monks are pacifists and take more of a defensive stance than a offensive stance. They have a lot of potential energy and bending ability on their side, but choose not to use for completely destructive purposes.

I've always thought that each element has its own move that can kill/do major damamge. I have always thought that aang could bend the air out of people's lungs. I mean, if Katara can bend blood, why can't aang bend breath?
EDIT: Kitaaaaaa! You took my idea and posted it before mmeee );

I wonder if Anng could seperate the breathable air from the rest... (Oxygen from carbondeoxide)
That would be interesting.

I just thought of something:
Earth: Iron in the body (X-Man anyone?)
Water: Blood Bending
Air: Breath
Fire: Uh... Toast?

It's stupid but: Fire: The core body temperature, they could heat it up. Its strage because all but firebenders bend matter. Like, physical elements and compounds. Fire is energy, and i wonder how they can make it burn without a source. (of course, this is a tv show, not a lab, so things can burn with no evidence of a chemical reaction if they want)

I had a dream where Zuko gets separarted from the group, and he starts walking down a trail, okay?
He comes across these guys in cloaks, and they circle around him. Zuko puts his game face on, and says something witty. -forgot-
All of a sudden, they did this wierd stance and Zuko is trapped in a wirlwind of air! He is so shocked, he was unprepared when they started bouncing him around in the wirlwind. He ends up disarmed, and Fire was useless.
So he fired at the ground, like a rocket. Seemed like a good idea, expect he is a sitting duck in midair. One guy blasts him against the tree and...
Um, yeah. Sorry Zuko.
Moral of Story: Airbending can be pretty damn deadly.

It's stupid but: Fire: The core body temperature, they could heat it up. I believe it's possible. In the episode The Avatar and the Fire Lord, Sozen managed to bend the heat out of the lava. There is no reason why a firebender would not be able to put heat into something.
