I'm just curious, where do the majority of the missionaries around you come from? Ours usually come from the united states, but we have recently received one from the Marshall Islands. I think he's the first to come from anywhere outside the United States. Also, I don't think our area has ever had female missionaries.
So I'm just asking, what are the missionaries typically like in your area?

I don't know who our missionaries are right now!

But of the poll? Why no option of BEEN on one already? redface hee hee!

oh yes, forgot that option on the poll! I should add that, shouldn't I... sweatdrop

that's interesting. So you never see them in church or anything?

And your sister missionaries, do they wear suit (with skirts, of course) or just skirt/shirt combos?

I haven't ever seen them in our ward, no. But I am in Utah, in a Single's Ward at present. So I am thinking they frequent OTHER wards in the stake.

It is interesting how differently Sisters dress in different missions. I know in upscale areas like one of my MTC roomies served they wore dress suits. Like business women. Where I was we were told we would NOT be recieved like that AND would die of heat exhaustion. So we mostly wore light skirts and blouses, sort of Latino and lots of jumpers.

We have sisters in our ward right now. We had one from Jamaica a few weeks ago, but she was transfered. I haven't met the new yet. I was supposed to go on splits with them, but I contracted laryngitis and had to cancel.

When I served as a missionary, we wore skirt/shirt type things and some sisters wore simple dresses. Most of my companions were from Utah, but I had one from Conneticut, one from California, Tennasee, and Canada. I heard we had one sister in the mission from South America, but I never got to meet her. I think a lot of forgein missionaries end up serving in their own country just in a different part than where they live. The only reason we send US missionaries abroad is there are not enough missionaries from those countries already serving. Otherwise they would keep all the US missionaries in the US and not worry about teaching them a new language and culture and everything.

We've got four; two males, two females. I'm pretty sure they're all from out West (Utah, Nevada, etc.)

I'm living in the Netherlands in the city Gouda.
At the moment we have 2 sisters and they are mostly from the USA but we also had from Europe. I even still see one who came from some former Russian country in the east... Now she and her family live in the part of Belgium where they speak Dutch every now and then. She finished her mission already so I see her sometimes at a Dance evening or other activities for everyone between 18 and 30.
It's really nice to see some missionaries back after their mission.
Before we had elders (well they switch it every few years). For them it counts the same so mostly from USA sometimes from Europe or other parts of the world.

As for the poll... don't know if I really would go on a mission later on. It would be a good thing for me... But I have been kind of inactive the past few years working on it to get out of that. I think it's important to get that done first then after that I want to go to the temple for the first time... after that some other things in preparing done if I feel that I'm really ready to go on a mission then I will go.

Most of ours are from the U.S., but we have an elder from the Spanish-speaking ward who is from Argentina. smile

I know one of our elders is from California, one is from Argentina like I said before, three are from Utah, and as for the other three, I'm not sure. We have two sister missionaries as well, but I have no idea where they are from.

All the missionaries are really cool though!

Our 2 Missionaries are both from Utah. We've had a German and several from West. Never had one (to my knowlege) from anywhere in the US farther east than Colorado. But I'm not totally sure.

We've had missionaries from all over...mostly from Utah. One missionary we had was from Alaska. My son went to Latvia for his mission. And we have missionaries from the ward serving in South America mostly. We love having missionaries over for dinner. They are the best!
