Hey guys... Uh, I've never done anything like this, and if you're not interested I'll be deleting this thread, no problem.
II was reading Pitchad's thread, not only the first post, but most of them. My view of Gaia changed after reading it - I'm not sure if that will happen to some of you, but I felt that I needed to share this, specially with our Hardcore Oldbies.
As I'm lazy I want to make sure you've read it, I won't make any introductions. Just tell me what you think of it, yes?

I read this thread earlier today. I don't mind change, I just get kind of ticked off about the whole "money-making" aspect. It's necessary, sure, but I get the impression that they're not going in the right direction with it.

I'll never truly forgive them these MTV sponsorships, but I trust they learned from this and won't make another contract with another company like this one...
On the other side, the fact that they're still losing money worries me a bit, and I'm starting to think they must be close to desperate to get enough money. Agh, I would kill to know what's their real situation.

They'll do somethin similar again. They need the money. Can you blame them? I can't.
I mean.... I hate what Gaia is becoming. It's going so far from what it was. But.... you know..... MANIFEST DESTINY!
I think I'll always be bitter because they made guns. (And forever will I bring this up)

Yesterday when I saw the new front page and when we (still) got no plot update on Valentine's Day it was like someone slapped me in the face- Gaia just isn't the same anymore.
Gaia has been slowly diverging from what it was originally. All of this- the interface changing, the logo redesign, the cash shop and influx of sponsorships- they've been small steps towards Gaia's new image. Not only is it or will it be a place for anime and manga lovers to hang out, but a giant money trap for teens.
I know nothing lasts forever, but it's still sad...

New front page - Looks like Gaia is turning into an even more gay version of MySpace. YAY, I CAN CREATE A MINI ME! talk2hand
As for their money worries, I'm sure they'll find someway to sell their soul off to keep their head above water and well, I'm happy for them to do so. I'd much prefer to have the Battle System and you guys on a cruddy website than have no website at all.

(No I didn't read the WHOLE post but I read some of it)
I totally agree with you guys, Gaia has gone to far! I wish it was like how it was in the old days (04-06). Those were the good old days no stupid sponsors or quests. The advertising was fine, because thats what websites have to do, but the sponsors went to far. evil Gaia needs to learn that this site was originally made for the forums and that is what makes it good. I thought the best thing they did was add the guilds to the site but now you can't load a page where a stupid sponsor/quest pops up somewhere! I just wish gaia could go back to its original ways before the quests started.
Lets just hope that they are only getting this money for the battle system, and not for keepsakes because I swear if they still have these kind of sponsors AFTER the battle system ends I'm quiting. (the site not the Battle System I have waited to long! xD)

I think there is still hope for Gaia.
If anything they'll have a split and try and keep the mainstream happy while having a team try and keep the minority of "hardcore" Gaians happy.

Well, I made this thread to see if you guys had any ideas about what we could do to make Gaia a better place for us again, because we can't just complain all the time - it's bad for the soul!
I don't know if you've been reading the Ask the Admin's threads, but it seems like in the next years it'll be easier for the users to create new contents for the site and all that. I hope that doesn't turn into another myth ._.

While I don't like what Gaia's becoming, I don't see a change back to what it was...
But remember, in 04 and 05, we were bombarded with Glitches. And I literally mean bombarded.

Then I recently had a need for Gaia so I re registered Christmas of 06. I am a ranter its not my fault. D: I don't really care much about what they do... (because it most likely is a myth)...I just don't what Gaia to end up as Myspace.
