Melody had become more and more excited as the Hawaii trip date had come closer to get to Hawaii. She spun around the home she and Lila shared, and spun them around the city they lived in, buying new clothes and things they'd "need," and getting prepared. She'd researched fun things that could be done while they were there and shared them with Lila and discussed what they could do in ALL excitement.
One of those things was that they were going to spend a few days in Hollywood, California JUST for the fun of it, and to say that they had done so. The real reason was that she was meeting Jay, Clarence, and Deb - who had a connecting flight in Sacramento - and Chuck and Martin, who'd ended up being his mentor above the woman he'd met, that had driven in. Clarence, who Melody would be introducing as her cousin, had managed to get their tickets all in the same area in coach. First class hadn't worked out.
Melody was the one to spot Clarence first, jumping up from the seat she was waiting at with Melody. "Clarence! How are you?"
"Melody, darling, is that you?" It was Deb who came forward, giving her a hug and then giving Lila one, "And this is Lila. Hello, sweetie. I'm Debbie and this is my husband Clarence, and this is Jay."
Clarence raised an eyebrow, "I think Martin and his kid are over in that corner. You girls have fun chit-chatting." He headed off to where Martin and Chuck were, "You were just planning on staring and not greeting us?" He called. "Come on, it's a big family reunion."
Martin had NOT mentioned any blood relations to Clarence to Chuck.
OOC: They're meeting at the AIRPORT, getting ready to fly out to Hawaii. =P Mel and Lila would have already had their trip there...
Chance to get you all involved together, just because it's way overdue.
Lila and Melody have been together for a little over a month now.
Chuck, for some reason it fell through with what's-her-face that you met earlier. Personality issues, perhaps. Training problems maybe. You got stuck with Martin instead. Do you have the RP with Martin in it, by any chance? I can't seem to find it, and I don't remember his personality. You and Martin would have known each other for a little longer.. three months or so?
Jay, you've been with Clarence and Debbie now for..what, six months or so? Clarence wouldn't have mentioned blood relations either, but Debbie has been chatting (in very general, vagueish terms) about Melody and Martin as if she's known them some time.
This RP is going to need to be fast-paced so we can get all the DA'rs together shortly. ^_^ No posting order.

Lila stood in wide-eyed bewilderment as she was rapidly swept into a hug, released, and spoken to. There were quite a few people who knew Melody here, but the simple country girl could hardly remember anything that'd been mentioned to her about them.
Over the last couple of weeks, there'd been nothing but talk of travel plans and what they'd be doing. Melody'd gone all out when it came to getting new clothes and things. Already, Lila had two brand-new suitcases full to the brim with more name brand clothes than she'd ever had. It was dizzying.
And now she was going on an airplane with some people who were supposed to be Melody's friends on her way to Hollywood, California. It was like something out of a dream.
"Golly," the girl murmured softly under her breath, reaching up and tenderly tugging one of her braided pig-tails. Though her wardrobe had changed drastically(the girl had graduated to considerably more stylish jeans and fitted shirts, though they were still apt to be concealed by her faded hoodie), her hair had stayed the same. And she still looked like a lost little bumpkin.
Nervously, Lila adjusted the mini-backpack she wore slung around her left shoulder, packed with a few Japanese comic books she'd taken a liking to and a portable CD player that had a mixed compilation she'd made herself. Her light eyes turned shyly downward, almost afraid to assess her new traveling companions.

Jay was quiet during the introductions. He stood a little behind Clarence and Deb. When it came his turn to speak he nodded slightly as a strange means of being friendly and said, “Hello, It’s nice to meet you.” Jay wasn’t sure what else to do in this situation. He had never been good at meeting people. He instead stood there and let the adults chat amongst themselves.
He felt awkward and out of place. He almost wanted to go home and abandon the idea of a Hollywood trip. However, he didn’t want to be home right now. His sister and father were constantly giving him a hard time about getting ready for college and it was really starting to get on his nerves.
He heard Clarence excuse himself and almost followed, but decided against it. If Clarence wanted him to come over there then he would call him. Jay then heard Clarence say something about this being a family reunion. Jay knew that the people they would be traveling with were good friends of Clarence and Deb, but he didn’t know they were family. It was strange. He thought they would mention that.
He turned his attention back to the women he was with. Deb and Melody seemed to be very happy to see each other, but the girl that was with Melody was looking down in discomfort. Jay didn’t look at her for too long as he shared in this discomfort, but he felt the need to say something and break the awkward silence. Sadly he couldn’t think of anything to say. Instead he made a sound in his throat that was like a rough, gargling cough and felt a little embarrassed about making the noise.

It had been a while since Chuck had met that lady, Ms. Lisa Hendricks. A while since he had accepted help for his...problem. And unfortunatly for one reason or another it hadn't worked out. Not that it mattered to him of course, instead he had gotten stuck with Martin, he knew him better then that lady anyways, so it was all good. He wasn't as serious, which was something the blond haired boy liked, of course he did tune out what Martain said from time to time. A bad habit he supposed, tuning people out and all. He got lost in his head far too much. Maybe that was the reason for some training issues, maybe that was why his hand wasn't fixed.
Chuck was standing next to Martin, they were meeting up with some others to head off to Hawaii, and boy was he happy to get away from home. Leaving New York for the frist time in his life, but more importantly this was time away from his father. What could be better?
Both hands were stuffed in his pockets, the fingers on his left hand were still green after all. Not something you left out in the open in a public place. And with them stuffed away he was less enticed to pick-pocket. Blue-green eyes slowly moved to eye the man that had headed over to the both of them. His thoughts were straying, but he didn't miss what Clarence had said. "Huh?" he blinked, his gaze turning to Martin for a moment. "Family reunion?" his tone was soft, and rather quiet, trailing off. Maybe his mind was staying off a little too much, but Martin had not mentioned any kind of relations to him. Not a single one. Chuck would have figured that he'd have heard about Martin being related to some of the people they were meeting, the guy did talk a lot (or at least it seemed that way to Chuck).
[ The only RP Martin was in was this one. ]

"Family reunion?" Martin repeated Chuck's question to Clarence, then rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, Clarence. Call it what you wish, but if I was here for some family reunion, I'd be going with the partying crowd, not some geek like you!"
Clarence gave Martin a wry smile, "Most people don't make the mistake of calling me a geek twice. It would seem you never learned your lesson. Have you told your friend here about how you ended up with that nasty scar on your arm?"
Martin's grin got bigger, "Oh, yeah, Chuck, this is Mr. Big Shot!" He winked at Chuck. Mr. Big Shot. Chuck would understand that, the guy who was the head of this group, and meant to be respected. Martin never played by the rules of who to obey and who not to. He was Chuck's perfect example of how not to act, but somehow Martin also had become one of his better friends in the little petty thieving, shadowy group of friends he had. "Hey, Clare, you got some cash on you?"
"There's no shops to spend it on here, what do you need, son?"
"Bozo here forgot his gloves."
Clarence shook his head, giving Chuck a resigned look, "A pocket works just as well." He looked up as the hostess started calling for boarding.
------------------
"Well, Jay, don't just stand there, say something!" Deb waved at Jay to come closer, "This is Melody, you've probably seen her picture in the hallway, and her little girl Lila. This is going to be so much fun! You'll get to know the other little boy soon as well. You'll have fun. And we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other on the airplane. You three children can sit on the center aisle together. Be polite now and let Lila have one of the aisle seats. Come on, smile, Jay!"
"Golly," Melody repeated and tugged Lila's other braid, giving her a smile and a wink, "It's a bit over-whelming, huh? I'm feeling a little shy too. I'll sit right in front of or behind you so it's not so uncomfortable, ok? That's our call! Come on," with a little excited squeak, Melody grabbed Lila's hand up, squeezing it and shaking it a little. Eee! Another airplane ride! TO HAWAII!!
---
OOC: You guys go ahead and get them boarded on the plane. Let's try a turn or two to see if we can get them talking and knowing each other a little more.

Jay’s tan cheeks started to turn red as Deb told him to, “say something,” and called him over to them. He said, “Hello,” again. His green eyes moved from Melody to Lila as Deb introduced them to him. He felt very awkward, but did as Deb asked just to satisfy her. She has been so kind to him in the past that he couldn’t really refuse her. He even managed to smile though it was obviously strained and quickly faded back to a look of apathy.
When he met Martin and Chuck he gave them a polite, “Hello,” but did not say anything after that.
Jay boarded the plane along side the other two kids and, to his displeasure, he ended up sitting between them. Jay decided to deal with it for the sake of being polite, but he was very uncomfortable between these two strangers. Jay nevertheless did his best to make himself comfortable. He put his chair back, pushed his brown hair out of his face, and closed his eyes for a moment in an attempt to relax. He soon found himself a little more at ease with his current situation and dared to open his eyes and face his travel companions.
They had been seated together for a reason. The adults probably thought they would have a good time with each other, but they really weren’t interested. Jay though he should say something to break the ice, but he couldn’t think of anything to say. He wasn’t a social person. He let out a soft sigh and looked up at the no smoking icon above his head.

Chuck's attention was turned towards the two, his mind not straying too far for the time being. He was curious about the whole family thing, and dispite all the things that could be going though his mind this current situation seemed to take the top place.
The boy remained silent as he listened to the two, a brow soon arching as Clarence asked Martin if he had told him about how he got the scar on his arm. From the sound of it, Martin had probably said something he shouldn't have (which really was rather common as it seemed) and got into a...dispute of sorts. Of course that was just a thought, an idea of what had been said ment. Of course, had Chuck not have been spoken to next, his mind would have certainly have come up with at least twenty more ideas on what could have happened.
The blond haired boy smiled momentarily, as Martin called Clarence Mr. Big Shot. Heh. He knew right away from that, that this was the guy in charge of their little group, and most definatly someone he needed to show no disrespect to. -Not that Chuck would have shown disrespect to anyone really, at least not on purpose. He would suppose that when his mind wandered off enough, and he stoped paying attention or listening as well as he should have been would probably count as disrespectful, but he couldn't really help that much. He really needed to learn how to keep that wandering mind of his in check.
Gloves.
Right those would have been a good idea to bring. Even if he wasn't too fond of them, they would help with the problem on his left hand. "Uh, right. I'll just keep my hands in my pockets for the trip." he spoke, the look on his face rather embarassed about the fact.
They had soon boarded, and he was seated with the other two kids. The other boy had been seated between him and the girl, leaving him at one of the ends. Chuck simply allowed him mind to begin wandering off again as he rested his head against the back of his seat. He was more interested in letting his thoughts loose in his mind then he was in talking to those he was sitting next to. It was then that the boy pulled a hand out of his pocket to scratch the top of his nose. He paused, quickly realizing it had been his left hand he had pulled from his pocket, not his right. "Crap.." he uttered under his breath, as he quickly shoved his green fingertiped hand back into his pocket. Planes were crazy when boarding, and it was just the very tips of his fingers that were green, no one would have noticed. Right?

Lila took her seat quickly, slipping her backpack from her shoulder and taking out the CD player. The two boys she was seated beside looked less than open for conversation. So.. music it was!
With a flash of silver light, Lila slipped the disk into the player and snapped the lid closed. Within seconds a familiar hum announced that the disk was spinning. And then the opening of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" began.
Propping her elbow on the arm rest, the girl's lips moved slowly with the lyrics. Her light eyes took their time resting on various people surrounding them. Nothing too interesting. A woman with hair piled on top of her head fussed with a plump, eager-faced man who could only be her husband, straightening his collar and smothing down his combover. Somewhere up front, a small child was waving out the window and yelling his goodbye's. A few teenage boys, all in black with chains and spikes sticking out from weird places, were laughing and making quick hand gestures that were supposed to be like that of picking guitar strings.
She smiled slightly at the last one. Okay, maybe a little interesting.
As the track ended and the drone of a techno beat began to thump in her ears, Lila sighed and sent a look toward her companions.
Slowly, she reached up and tugged the headphones down to her neck. "I'm Lila Bailey," She murmured, a blush creeping into her cheeks as she heard her own painfully sharp Southern drawl. "I'm from Arkansas."

Jay sighed and leaned forward on his chair. It was going to be a really long flight the way things were going. He looked about the cabin at the other passengers and caught sight of a little boy sitting with his parents. He was all excited about flying and had sat next to the window so he could look out it during the flight. Jay sighed again. He would give anything to be that kid right now.
Jay was about to turn back to his seat when a strange sight caught his eye. The young man next to him had a hand with green tips. It was scratching his noes. The young man seemed to notice that he was using his hand, withdrew it quickly, and stuck it back in his pocket. Jay hadn’t looked directly at Chuck so Chuck may not have known that Jay saw his hand.
Jay wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, but he could judge by the way the young man acted that the green on his hands wasn’t paint of any kind. Was he an Evolved? And if he was what about the others? Had Clarence brought him here to meet other Evolveds? It would make sense. After all Clarence and Deb had pictures of Melody. And when he first met them they said that the pictures they had were of kids they helped that were like him.
Jay didn’t get much longer to think about this because Lila decided to introduce herself. Jay gave her a sideway glance before turning to face her. He sat back in his chair before introducing himself again. “Nice to meet you. I’m Jay Dorian.” his voice was polite, but still very distant and cold, “I’m from Chicago.”

OOC: Since the point of this RP was for you guys to get to know each other BEFORE Hawaii, I'm going to hold off replies while you chat amongst yourselves. I'll come back in... after my vacation in March. That gives you a good month. Please chatter and get to know each other! If you want to use the NPCs with minor actions here and there, go for it. You should know their personalities well enough to do small things. If you ABSOLUTELY need something, say something in thread so we know!

He had to keep it cool, or whatever. Think movies, think stories, he just had to act like any of the main characters that knew how to stay safe would. Act like nothing happened, completly forget about the fact that he had pulled the wrong hand out of his pocket. If he let himself daydream then he'd have no problem taking his mind off it. He was entirly unaware that Jay had seen his hand.
Eyes shifted, as Chuck looked around, watching the other pasengers. He was starting to zone off to that la-la-land in his head, making up piculiar stories in his head, like always. This time the story that seemed to be forming in his mind was some sort of action/suspense, featuring random passengers on the plane. Every story needed its characters after all.
The blond haired boy blinked, as the girl spoke. What had she said? Lila something or other? He hadn't really been paying attention. Geeze, maybe allowing himself to start daydreaming hadn't been the best of ideas, but it certainly had been helping him keep his mind off of his mistake. Then the guy beside him spoke, introducing himself as well.
"I'm Chuck Door." he uttered, figuring it was only polite to introduce himself as well, the others had after all. "New York." Chuck's voice was rather quiet, but carried a distinct New York accent.

Jay heard chuck introduce himself and nodded slightly. He wondered again about chuck’s hand, but he decided that he should probably not mention that. It was too public a place to discuss private matters. Jay thought about it again and wondered how or why he was even here. Clarence hadn’t might told him much and Deb tended to go on about the people he was going to meet instead of what they were going to do. He was certain it had something to do with his training, but what? He decided he should ask the others why they’re here. It might give him a clue as to what was going on.
“So...What brings you two on this trip?” Jay asked casually. He didn’t have a heavy Chicago accent, but he did speak like a true Midwesterner.
He leaned back on his seat and looked at Lila and then at Chuck as he waited for a response.

Clouds fluttering by, frost building up upon the being's face. A single strand of hair clutched in their hand, as they raced though the bizare land, where up was down and down was up. That single strand of hair held the key to everything. The DNA it carried could create a cure. A cure for-
Huh? Oh, what brought him on this pirticular trip? Chuck gave his head a shake, trying to clear away his thoughts and bring up some to answer Jay's question.
Martin had taken over his training, told him they were going on this trip, and really who was he to argue? Martin was his friend, and it ment he could get far far away from his father. He didn't care if this trip was for training or whatever else. It didn't really matter to him, well unless it would help his fingers go back to normal.
The boy figured it would have something to do with training, but there were these other two, so did that make them like him as well? Nither of them sported something like a tail or anything else that would give it away, so he really couldn't tell. He wasn't about to ask. It wasn't really that important to him, and they were on a plane. A plane filled with people. "Not a clue." the boy simply shruged.

From behind Chuck's middle seat, it started to rain mini skittle packets and unwrapped sugar-coated gumdrops. Martin was humming "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood."
"Knock it off, would'ja? I thought I told you to throw that trash away."
"Awh, it's just a little pick-me-up candy!"
"They're on an airplane, they don't---"
"Hush, now, Mr. C. There's no need to let your dislike of flying get in the way of our fun."
Clarence snorted, "If I'm not having fun, neither should you--Don't throw that at me!"
Martin half-stood so he was looking over the teenagers' seats, "I got some sleeping pills if you wanna take 'em."
"Martin! You--"
"I'll take one."
"--should be--Mr. C!!! Drugging yourselves like that!"
"It's an experiment," Martin chuckled, "To see if the sugar or the pills win out."
OOC: Figured that was a fair way to let ya'll decide if you wanted to hurry this one up or not.
