the fact that he IS a dog demon is what makes his character so great. You see dogs are loyal and loving, and without those he might have never be able to live in the human world with the personality(ies) he has. Now his brother is naturally an exception, but that is because i believe that most of Sessy's personality defects are from his superiourity complex.

I wanna be a fox demon/ninja(actually half three-tailed fox) cuz that's my destiny, that's all. It is my fate, to be the executioner of mankind(unless, someone changes my motive, which could be a bit hard)

Inuyasha is a dog demon and if they changed Inuyasha then it wouldnt be Inuyasha again.
