hey. neutral
Well, for the past 4 months, I've been busily seaching for a job. Anything will do really, as long as I'm earning enough to fund my collage stuff. HOWEVER: no luck, as of yet. And it seems like I've tried everywhere. And, to make matters worse, my old job doesn't give references, so it makes me look inexperienced. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on jobhunting or whatever. Thanks! >3<

All i can say is dont just turn in an application. When you go to get the application talk to the manager

It must be tough trying to find work and do college, I thought that showed good motivation and determination.
The first thing employers always look at is a your C.V. Make sure yours is up-to-date, include all your experience relevant to the job your applying for. Adapt it to each job you apply for. And include life experience, courses, acheivements, leadership oppurtunities, any voluntry work.
Make sure you have some interests to add, gives them (the employers) something to talk to you about.
On interview, do all the expected things, look clean, alert, smart and most of all show enthusiasm for the job you're going for. Keenness is a big big big selling point! Even if you have to fake it lol.

Well, I personally actually work at the college I attend. Due to various government requirements, at least community colleges now tend to offer to students paying jobs doing various things to help students with disabilities, etc. Looking into something like that could be something you might want to keep in mind?

Also, don't be afraid to "sink too low". The person working endless shifts washing dishes or the employees in funny uniforms handing out happy meals are better off than the people who can't pay any of their bills.

&, on the subject of turning in job applications,

If you just give it to the people working behind the counter in a store, etc. , what do you think the chance is that it's actually going to make it to their supervisor? & if it makes it to their supervisor, what's the chance he's going to bother to read it in a promptly manner, remember to call you back, not lose it, etc.? The truth is, less than 50%. **Whenever you turn in a job application, always call the place again [unless they have already called you] to follow through on your application & make sure the boss recieved it & didn't forget about it.** This tip was stressed to me by a buddy of mine who has hired hundreds & hundreds of people in his suprisingly short lifetime.
Also, when applying to work at restaurants, if you ask for an application/turn one in around 2pm-3pm there's a decent chance the manager will do an on-the-spot interview, since there's practically no customers around that time & everybody gets bored.

hey, thanks for the advice so far! ^3^ I'll use it well, and hopefully, find a place...
My last job was at a grocery chain called Sobey's. I worked in the bakery..not much experience in any other field of work, but I can whip up cookies like there is no tomorrow...

I've tried looking for online jobs, but some of them were scams, and some were...not very ladylike, if you catch my drift. redface I'm working on a website to sell friendship bracelets I make( I have hundred's of them because...well I have a lot of free time, I suppose.) I hope that works a bit, anyway. sweatdrop
