Name: Grayson Heathcliff Niela Nickname(s): Ace Species: penguin Nationality: Gaian/Triumvirate Birthdate: February 4th Birthplace: The Lab Occupation: student
Physical Data - Age: ~10 years old - Height: - Build: - Hair: black - Eyes: black - Skin: black and white, currently with gray feathers - Attire: - Distinguishing Characteristics: pointed ears, flipper feet
Personal Data - Hobbies: - Likes: - Dislikes: - Favorite Color/s: dark blue, white - Favorite Food/s: sashimi - Sexuality: - Religion: - Politics: - Education:
Personality: Grayson is sweet and very friendly. He really tries to think the best of people and is attentive to the emotional needs of others. He's a wonderful child who behaves generally well and usually follows the rules. (He is a growing young boy, and like any young boy, can get into trouble.) He likes to make people happy. He can forgive anyone anything. He's a fast learner and can usually pick things up after being shown just once.
That said, there are a few things Grayson is not. He is not good at problem-solving. If you give him a pail and put him on the beach and tell him to make a castle, he won't understand what you want from him unless you show him how to do it. If he isn't shown how to do something, chances are good he won't figure it out on his own. He's not dumb by any means, he's just not the type of person who's great at connecting the dots. He doesn't have many aspirations besides making new friends and seeing people happy. The future to Grayson is some far-off possibility that doesn't have much bearing on the present.
People truly are Grayson's great love, followed closely by any sort of physical activity. If it's outdoors in the sun and involves throwing or catching, he's happy. Team sports? Even better! Water sports? Best yet! There's really no sort of exercise Grayson dislikes. He even likes climbing, but because he has flippers for feet, he's really kind of rubbish at it and Landor frets about Grayson's flippers getting all cut up by the rough tree bark.
While Grayson isn't terribly studious, he does do his homework under Landor's supervision. He's mostly a B and C student. He puts forth some effort, but doesn't have a passion for learning to drive him to get good grades. He's just happy if he's passing and not disappointing Landor.
Background:
Special Skills: excellent swimmer, can withstand arctic temperatures Weaknesses: bad at climbing

Name: Cmdr. Landor Niela Nickname(s): Lan Species: human Nationality: Tinatian Birthdate: Birthplace: Imill, Sequot; Tinas Occupation: starfighter squadron leader and logistics officer under the command of Admiral Aberdeen
Physical Data - Age: 36 - Height: 5' 11" - Build: thin, gaunt - Hair: dark brown with a grey streak - Eyes: grey-green - Skin: pale - Attire: combination of his issued military clothing - Distinguishing Characteristics:
Personal Data - Hobbies: gardening - Likes: - Dislikes: - Favorite Color/s: dark blue - Favorite Food/s: - Sexuality: heterosexual - Religion: atheist - Politics: Collectivist - Education:
Personality:
Background: Landor was born in Imill, in the Sequot region of the planet Tinas. His parents were workers in the industrial sector. After completing his elementary education, Landor applied and was accepted to Space Fleet Academy, where he trained as a starfighter pilot. He was a very talented pilot and his ability to be level-headed in stressful situations earned him commendation and eventually the position of squadron commander at the age of twenty-five.
Tinas had been embroiled in a war with neighboring planets over mining rights and territorial boundaries for several generations, keeping Landor quite busy. He was on a routine solo recon mission to an asteroid field, scouting out a suspected fuel refinery, when he ran into a gravitic mine field. His fighter was damaged and he was forced to make an emergency landing on a large asteroid. His radio remained intact and a rescue mission was underway when the Space Fleet was recalled, all persons and ships, due to an imminent attack on Tinas, stranding Landor. He followed the battle on the radio until the Tinatian Fleet's transmission went dead. Shortly thereafter there was a wideband transmission announcing the destruction of Tinas by a new Ederan superweapon. Landor detonated the remainder of his starfighter's missiles in the barrel and died in the resultant explosion.
Immediately, he was brought back into existence by a praetor. It was jarring, but Landor was given some to adjust to the change before being asked to resume his duties as a starfighter squadron commander, which he did. He was assigned to the Demitrius, an interdim carrier, and additionally took up duties as a logistics officer. When the conflict ended, he took up residence in a nice little house in the Neighborhood with a nice yard. He has been there ever since, working on his garden. He presently serves under the command of Charles Aberdeen on the flagship Adelphia, but as it is peacetime, he has far less to do.
Special Skills: excellent spacial skills; excellent mathematical skills; slow to anger Weaknesses: can't swim; relies on a translation chip to speak, read, and understand English

Grand Admiral Charles Angheroff Aberdeen Living to the north of Grayson and Landor, Charles Aberdeen is a war hero in the Triumvirate and the person who singlehandedly spearheaded the peace treaty. A captive of Deity Command for eight years, he is a man of remarkable strength, fortitude, wisdom, and foresight. His position of respect elevates him in such a way that few people truly know Charles Aberdeen as a person. He is generally very controlled and reserved, remarkable in his ability for calmness and clarity even under the most stressful for situations. He is highly intelligent and self-educated in history, art, and culture, having risen from a family of tarnished nobility to lead the Unified Earth Defense Force in their ultimately doomed battle against the Capellans before joining the Triumvirate as one of its two master strategists. Together with Minnarkentanit Trant, Charles set up the Triumvirate's strategy for the war, a strategy that continued to play out after his departure and subsequent capture by Deity Command. A Vegan, he is an exceptional cook with a rare gift for culinary design. He has a special interest in Landor Niela, special enough that he chose a house directly adjacent to Landor and looks out for Landor's health and well-being. Charles admires Landor greatly, though Landor cannot see why. To Grayson, Charles is always kind and polite, even cracking a smile or joke on occasion, but as with everyone, there exists a wall between Charles and Grayson. Charles is simply untouchable by the world in some way. Shuuichi Kurata A genetic engineer, Kurata worked with the Harugi Foundation after the calamity which left much of the world in ruin, trying to design a better psychic soldier. He was responsible for the misery of hundreds of children until one day something changed inside him and he saved one of his research subjects, a little girl named Minako who was terribly attached to him despite his cold cruelty. Never skilled socially, Shuuichi adopted one of the calamity's orphans, a young girl named Naomi, to take care of Minako for him, essentially abusing the lax adoption procedures for the children of calamity to gain a servant. For all his lack of morals, he learned to love his family thanks to Naomi's pure heart, and they emigrated from Earth to the Triumvirate when the government attempted to extend Kurata's genetics experiments. What Kurata leaves out of this charming little tale is the fact that he was blown almost to pieces in an assassination attempt and underwent a rare neural reconstructive surgery, a procedure so painful Shuuichi has never spoken of it with anyone. After emigrating and recovering from this surgery, Kurata made a new home with Minako and Naomi in the Triumvirate, befriending Landor Niela. While Kurata is still not known for his social graces, his life has taught him lessons enough to give him wisdom. He presently works as section chief of the genetic engineering division of the Lab. Tarquinia D'Ardea The first woman ever to become a member of the elite Jacks in her home kingdom, Tarquinia spent much of her life as a woman in a man's role. From a young age she preferred martial arts to pretty dresses and wanted nothing more than to be the respected equal of any man. She trained longer and harder and became the first woman ever accepted into the royal academy, then the first woman to graduate, and finally the first female Jack. Her sexual proclivities for both men and women well-known, Tarquinia endured a good deal of hostility, mostly from other women. The men in the armed forces she won over with her skills as a fighter. She eventually came to ruin by courting the princess; she was exiled for this crime and proudly sold her country out for a chance to rescue the princess from a conspiratorial plot, in the process toppling the corrupt government of her kingdom. As it was no longer safe for her to live there, she emigrated to the Triumvirate after being recruited by Trion Bartholomew and has served as one of its more prominent members ever since. Her sexual reputation remains, but without the earlier hostility. She lives with her girlfriend, ____, but it is not an exclusive relationship, and she serves in the Triumviral Guard as Guard Captain. Tarquinia is smart, daring, and never afraid of moral outrage or public opinion. She does what she feels is right. Intensely passionate about everything in life, she makes things fun and never begrudges anyone anything. Tarquinia lives two hosues to the north of Landor and Grayson, on the other side of Charles Aberdeen's house. Sylvia Depriest Minako KurataA genetic test experiment, Minako was part of a project to create psychic supersoldiers. Though the project itself yielded few results, Minako was one of its success stories. She never knew her parents. As a child crying and screaming, she bonded to the one human face she did know: Dr. Shuuichi Kurata, the amoral researcher responsible for her pain. Despite all the injections and experiments, Minako became totally devoted to Shuuichi, her love and the way she welcomed every new round of torture eventually stirring his cold heart. Kurata took Minako from the program and adopted another girl, Naomi, to take care of Minako, since he lacked any interest in being a parent. Minako did not care much for Naomi, though, and remained loyal only to Shuuichi. When eventually the government demanded Minako be returned to the program, Shuuichi resisted, and was willing to die to defend Minako. Shuuichi, Minako, and Naomi were given asylum by the Triumvirate. Shuuichi has since done his best to try and make up to Minako for his grievous errors by being a better father. Though almost eleven years old, Minako is quite small for her age. She hates anyone or anything getting between her and Shuuichi and has decided to marry him. Her temper can be very destructive given her psychic abilities. She has undergone a hormone treatment to restrict the strength of her psychic powers. She tolerates Naomi. Naomi KurataTeqatia Endruis Marvin FulkirkApollonius "Lindsey" LinderhamLandor and Grayson's neighbor to the south, Lindsey is rather stuck-up and aloof, not really interested in Landor and Grayson because in his mind, his own life is so much more important. Lindsey was raised mostly by AIs and spent his youth as an activist, graduating to a career in political science and becoming a key figure in the election of President Halbeth as leader of the United Federation. When war broke out between the UF and the Human Alliance, Lindsey was assigned as the President's representative to the USS General Grant. While everyone else was looking at tactical readouts, Lindsey was looking out a window when he spotted a disabled enemy fighter pilot and ordered her rescued. In the process of the rescue, the General Grant was detected by the Alliance and destroyed. Lindsey was recruited by the Triumvirate and insisted everyone else on the Grant be recruited, too, including the enemy pilot. He was branded a bleeding heart traitor by everyone on the Grant, but Lindsey found a whole new bureaucracy to explore in the Triumvirate and continued merrily along as a bleeding heart activist, as happy to make a difference here as he had been back on Earth. He values human and animal life greatly, but generally in more theoretical sense of principle than actual practice. The enemy fighter pilot he rescued, Shi Yun Li, lives in his garage when she is not onboard the Adelphia. Lindsey is employed as a governmental overseer and travels around the Triumvirate's holdings making sure things are running according to the law, which includes periodic visits to the Adelphia. Tinas - climate & terrain (mostly airborne moisture/fog, densely forested, trees get moisture about 90% from the air, weather regionally quite consistent) - culture (& abnormalities, like the lack of swimming) - food & drink - religion (archaic old religions [not deity-based, but superstitious], modern widespread atheism [which floats back to the reasons Tinas was chosen for destruction; why do religious people so fear atheists?]) - politics - flora & fauna - architecture (rounded everything, smooth transitions of forms) - agriculture (somewhat more significant meat industry, not that the genetically engineered meat beasts are anything the same as Earth's livestock) Tinatian Alphabet - no C, a pair of extra vowels, no alphabet order [and definitely no song]) Tinatian Numbers & Mathematics - like the Romans, no zero, though the concept of zero exists - Landor's translation chip's mathematical submatrix - historic base 5 and base 8 systems (thus Tinatians very good at converting between bases, and have several multiplication and dividing tricks not immediately evident to base-10ers and tend to be quite good at maths on the whole) History of the War Vocabulary u/fa - father (fa is a term for your own father, ufa for someone else's father, so it's a bit more formal in a way) u/sif - son u/deem - daughter (not that this ever gets used, just in case you wanted to know!) u/ma - mother (as above, twice over)
