 Fernpelt awoke on a bright day and walked into the nursery. She looked at all the sleeping kits noticing one that was awake. Hello, what's your name?" She mewed gentley to the kit. Then swished her tail in front of the kit preparing herself for the kit's pounce.

 Earthkit glanced up at the approaching cat. "I'm Earthkit," she mewed. She quickly jumped to her feet and pounced at Fernpelt, only to be bounced back by her tail. "Hey...no fair!" she complained.

Ferpelt chuckled a little. "You're a funny little kit. "Well my name is Fernpelt." She stared a the little kit a little before suggesting, "How about we leave the nursery for a bit and I show you around camp?"

Earthkit's face brightened and she looked up at Fernpelt with pleading eyes. "You'll take me around camp? Please? I don't want to sit around in the nursery all day." She carefully walked around the other sleeping kits before racing toward the entrance. She paused and waited excitedly for Fernpelt.

"Wait for me," Fernpelt meowed with humor in her voice. "I mean I'm the one doing the showing." Fernpelt walked out of the nursery and headed over to the Medicine Cat's den. "This is where the medicine cats treat injured cats. Any questions?"

Earthkit happily followed Fernpelt out of the nursery and to the nearby medicine cat den. She glanced at the it and then looked up at the older cat. "Why do medicine cats sleep in a seperate den?" she asked. "Do they ever sleep in the warriors' den?"

"Well, I'm guessong it's because a medicine cat needs to be around the sick or injured cats, for constant care." She mewed to the young kit. This tour around camp reminded her of when Stonestream had taken her around camp. She shook her head to dismiss the thought. Okay, now that we covered the medicine cat den lets move on the the leaders' dens. These dens are where our leaders, Mothstar and Fernstar sleep." She carried on with the tour by leading the young kit to the aprrentice's den. "This," She mewed, "Is where you will sleep when you become an apprentice. And don't worry," She mewed. "I've saved the best for last." She then led the kit to the warrior's den. "This is where all the warriors and I sleep." She mewed. Knowing the kit would want to see the interior she meowed, "Why don't you take a peek inside?" As she walked into the den.

Earthkit followed Fernpelt, interested. When she mentioned entering the warriors' den, she jumped in excitement. "I can actually go in there? Are you sure?" She poked her head around the edge of the entrance to sneak a peek inside. When Fernpelt entered, Earthkit quickly followed her and looked around with wide eyes. "It's so big!" she mewed.

"It is now," Fernpelt purred in amusement, "Wait until you and your fellow kits enter the warriors den, it'll be so crowded." Fernpelt walked out of the warriors den. She really liked Earthkit so she wanted to take a chance. "Earthkit?" She mewed. "When you become an apprentice do you want me to be your mentor?"

She didn't really believe that the huge den could get crowded. "We are a bit crowded in the nursery, but it is so much bigger in here!" she announced.
She was sniffing a piece of bedding when Fernpelt asked her question. Earthkit looked over at her and called out, "Yeah! You would be the best mentor ever! The other kits will be jealous, I bet!"

Fernpelt nodded, "Well, we'll just have to get the leader's to agree." She purred. "Now, how about a special part of this tour, I'll teach you how to stalk prey." Fernpelt knew this kit would be a very good apprentice.

Earthkit proudly stated, "I'm going to tell them all that you can me my mentor so I hope the leaders say it is alright too!"
She ran up to Fernpelt when she offered the special treat. "Wow, you'll show me how? It looks so cool! I don't know how the fish don't see us above them!" She thought back to a time when she watched some warriors flipping fish out of the water.

Fernpelt let out a small chuckle, "Ok, follow me." She led the way to the river. "Just make sure you don't get too close we dn't want you to fall in." She looked to make sure her shadow was in the right place. "Well, the whole trick to fishing is to keep your shadow off the water so the fish don't see you, and when they come close to the surface you just swoop your paw down." She watched the water for a few heartbeats knowing she couldn't mess this up if she wanted the kit to like her. She saw her chance as a flash of silver came near the surface she swooped her paw in and hooked the fish then quickly administered the killing blow. "And that's how you do it." She announced.

Earthkit watched quietly as Fernpelt stood over the water. She gasped as a dripping fish was suddenly plucked out of the water. "That was amazing!" she cried out. She sniffed the fish baside her before leaning by the edge of the stream and pawing at the water. "When do you think I can catch them like that?" she asked. Her paws could just barely touch the water's surface.
