User ImageThe dawn of a new day. Birds stirred with sleepy welcome swelling in their colorful throats as the fiery sun peaked to envelop the mountainside. Blinding spots of deep reds and burnished oranges whispered quietly through the grassy fields, warming them with their gentle, wafting breath. All in all, a perfect morning. Life stirred and shook off the slumber night had draped upon its shoulders to forage out again into the day.

It was with morbid fascination that she watched this. Death would inevitably fall upon each organism that struggled so fruitlessly to simply survive, yet they hardly seemed to even consider such a possibility. Coiled neatly upon her haunches, bulbous eyes peered intensely at the rim of the forest while small creatures crept from their hiding places to begin a long, hard day of tedious foraging. Red ribbons stirred delicately against the vivid display of her back, twisting sinuously as they flared out to frame her skull in blatant mockery of the burning giant that continued to lift itself into the sky.

How fascinating would it be, she mused with bright-eyed curiosity, to set those busy creatures aflame? Would they squeal? Would they shriek and cry and fight the merciless being that was Death? Or would they simply curl up and accept the smoldering embrace as they were charred to mere crisps? Oh, how she wondered! A deceptively girlish giggle bubbled in her throat as the bizarre creature grinned quietly to herself, bandy tails beginning to swish.

Amusing as these life forms were, they weren't any real fun. She wanted something sentient to play with, someone to manipulate, twist, and eventually break. There was nothing more amusing than a new toy! the female pushed herself idly to her feet as she slunk closer to the edge of the woods, striped ears cocked casually to listen.

"Hee hee...Isn't there anyone who wants to play...?"

Oh, for the love of all that is sparkly! Did they never shut up? No matter how many he'd scare or even pounce upon, those feathered nitwhits kept tweeting in praise of the new day. A day where snow was slowly withdrawing, enough so that colors were peeking back into the world. And that made him disgruntled. No longer was he, Soul, the most glamorous sight around. No longer was he the only being with colors and patterns of such fascinating display. No. Now he had flowers to bargain with, birds to compare to, and spring's suffocating scent to ride out his own dominating markage. What a depression this seasonal change brought.

With star splattered tails weaving like the Milky Way itself, the black kitsu made his way across the land. Shrubbery, trees, and even the squirrels that zig-zagged across his path were ignored. They were nothing to spend his energy on. And the one subject of most of his antics was nowhere to be seen. Muzzle smirked as the male thought, even in that absence of entertainment, he had claimed way to this territory. Nevermind it was by childish means.

Pausing in his stride, Soul allowed his teal eyes to wander. What was that stench? That couldn't be a kitsu...but it was. And for just a moment, the male spotted a slithering of vibrant colors across the wood. Much too large to be a flower patch. Flicking his neon pink hair from his face, Soul prowled to where the other...thing, stood. And once close enough, he leapt onto a treebranch to peer down at the stranger. "Play? Play you say?"

The sound of limb creaking softly from unexpected weight was more than enough to alert the female that a new visitor had dropped within her graces. Twisting her face upwards, Majora peered with eerie silence up at the splashes of bright color that coated the other's dark body, allowing herself to take idle pleasure in the vividness. Even as he repeated her query, the female felt a rush of delight surge through her veins. Why, had he come in answer to her call? Wordlessly, she gave a sleek tremble of joy that shuddered the very spines that were strategically placed all down her back.

"Clever boy! Such a clever boy!" Majora praised, her tone husky with pleasure as she seated herself to better look at him. "You've come all this way to play with me?" She practically purred, bulging eyes flashing with her amusement. "Very well...Ah! Ah, I know!" Oh goodness, yes, she had the perfect game!

"You know hide and seek, mm? How about we play that? For you, I'd even be the Oni...The seeker!" A strange, cackling peal of laughter surged past sharp teeth, and the female had surged upright so she could pace. Her entire form was a rippling haze of confusing color as she slunk back and forth, keeping careful eyes locked onto this potential plaything. "Well, boy? You think you can hide...from me? Tee hee!"

A glance up from the stranger, and Soul almost yelped from his stance with utter surprise. What dna malfunction gave chameleon eyes like those? Entertaining himself with laughter, Soul wrapped his tail securely around the tree limb. This was by far the most...interesting kitsusagi he had ever seen. And were those nightmare whips waving so elegantly from the rims of her face? Such intriquet (sp?) work put into this strangers design. Though nowhere near as delightful as his own, he assured.

"Clever, clever indeed!" A white fanged grin was flashed to the female, Soul cocking his ears proudly. Oh, but was she serious? She wanted to play...but only in children's terms? Well darn. The dark-hued male yawned openly, waving a dismissive paw to Majora. "Awww, and here I thought you wanted to really play. What a shame. Woe to me." A brow lifted as the other continued her thoughts, voice slithering with delight. "Hmm, hide and seek, you say?" With the lethargic weight of a panther, Soul stood and walked the length of the tree branch, before lying coyly on the narrow edge. "And what may the prize be? If I play your little game? Hmm?" Winking to the peculiar female while ignoring her strange laughter, Soul smirked confidently. "I'm fairly certain that I can hide. But do I reaally want to?" And he glanced around the woods in mock boredom to find something else to do.

If the female noted the attention she was being given, she hardly seemed to notice. She was currently preoccupied in taking a more hearty interest in his tails, enthralled by the splashes of explosive color that roared like muted flames across the ebony fluff while stars settled happily amongst the chaos. Her writhing mane flared wider for a moment, growing jagged with her infectious excitement before it smoothed and dropped sleekly down the back of her neck, dormant and docile as any normal bit of hair. Her colorful lips drew back in her sharpened grin, pricking her ears at his words while a soft scoff of laughter murmured somewhere in her throat.

"Naughty too, I see...But what fun is being clever if there's no sense of mischief to go along with it?" Her body seemed somehow too long, shoulders rippling like a stalking cat even as she stayed fixed on her current quarry. Her searing gaze was alight with pleasure when he spoke of a prize, and again her crimson tendrils made to frame her odd face. "Ohh, you want a reward? Such a naughty, but clever boy...Yes, there could be a prize. I'll grant you whatever your heart desires, should it be in my power! But ONLY if you win! Tee hee! How does that sound, boy? Is that enough to get those pretty paws of yours moving? Hee!" Her spine arched as she settled low to the ground, hinds still in the air while bandy tails swished lazily too and fro. "I'm waaaaiting...~"

*sorry it's crappy, not feeling up right now*

Such an interesting individual. And for a female to boot. Soul blinked lazzily as he paused, as if actually considering the worth of her game. "Oh fine, not like there's anything else to do." The male stood from his perch, stretching his back while raising a brow. Those whipping tendrils were so distracting, like a bait for fish to devour, only to fall victim themselves.

"Naughty? Hardly, but I try." And he smiled with pride before flicking his galaxy tails. A jump, and he was soon on the ground near the other. He didn't want to draw too near, the thought of maybe bumping into her eye grossing him out. "Well then, shall we play?" He grinned a maniacal smile, as he lifted his starred paw. "Come find me!~" And with a snap of his claws, he poofed in a cloud of magenta smoke, his furry body nowhere to be scene. It was similiar to finding the Chesire cat in a maze.

"Good boy!" She praised even as he lightly leapt to join her on equal ground, rising from her crouch to slyly tilt her jaw upward as she watched him. "Hurry up!" Came the delighted response to his teasing, and the female shrieked with delight as he burst into writhing plumes of smoke. With that, he had vanished, and it was all she could do to keep herself from leaping after him. "One...two..." She began to count softly, eerie eyes shuttering instantly. "Three..." Majora giggled and tapped into her chaotic threads of power, channeling them quickly as she strewed them throughout the forest. "Four...five..." The forest groaned in agony as the wrathful creature began to warp reality itself, the earth shuddering underneath her paws in an attempt to dissuade her. "Six....seven..." She spoke louder with each number, a deep, humming drone accompaning her deceptively casual tone.

"Eight...nine...ten! Get ready or not..." Her eyes snapped open, bulging faintly even as she snarled with delight through bared teeth. Claws dug even further into the ground to steady her, and the female hunched as a swell of energy began to rip its way out of her body. "Here...I....come!"

Soul wasn't the only one who could play tricks on the eyes! The web she'd so cleverly cast out was ignited, and the entire world seemed to flip upside down. Trees trembled and grew twice their length, bark fading to a bizarre arrangement of deep indigo and crimson hues. Birds no longer chirped pleasantly in their branches, but small, squealing shades darted here and there while the sky itself had blackened to a deep and ugly grey. But this all was nothing more than an illusion--one that would literally affect anyone who had the misfortune to be in the area.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Majora shrieked with mirth as she began to seek.

Even when the vapors began to fine and vanish in the air, and the kitsu resposible for such stunts so far away now.... Majora's voice could still be heard. And despite it being a game, a waste of time for the starry male, he found his fur standing on end. Her tone was just so....eerie. Just the sinister undertone that made her so enthusiastic to play made him feel like, well, prey. Especially with his adrenaline now pumping through his running limbs. But was there any doubts, or fear? Never for Soul-Lexis! A smirk stretched his lips as he sped up his pace. He would win this game! Oro? What was that?...

Soul skid his paws in the ground, ending his race as curiousity won out. Was that an earthqake...but without the quakes? Toxic ears flitted down to the loud sound, the male glancing about in a speedy circle. What was going on here?! Surely he hadn't inhaled too much of his vapors?? The trees surrounding him grew within seconds and warped into hues similiar of his own fur. Oh crap...

And the damned mountain still had snow patches everywhere. The shade of the mountain ensured a safe haven for the snow to gather and survive. Much to a certain female's dismay. But fatique had won out, and the cool air was enough to slow any progress Setsu hoped to make. With the steep slope before her and a certain skeleton out behind her, the only option of now was to hide out and regain some lost strength.

With one arm wrapped about her torso, the kitsu soon came across a rather useful tree. With a thickset trunk and low grown branches of sturdy build, it would do just fine. With three careful and shaken paws, Setsu scaled to the second layer of branches. And even if it was just the height of a standing kitsu's outstretched arms, it served its purpose of a useful view.

Setsu reclined against the tree with a grumble, laying pale ears up the bark and hanging heavy tails over her perch. A quick glance to her surroundings before glancing at her paw. Already red, it remained firmly pressed against her side. That settled it. A visit would need to be made with that lunatic scientist.

User ImageSo coooold all of a sudden...The Spaniard grimaced lightly at his semi-frozen paws as they crunched through the snow. Shouldn't this snow start melting, already? The wind licked straight through his clothing and ruffled his fur, earning a few mutters out of the attractive charmer. But the frozen air, no matter how it bit savagely at his nose, had a few interesting secrets of its own to share; the scent was thin, but he could not mistake the sour smell of blood.

His father had taught him how to expertly track game while remaining unseen, and Luis carefully picked his way through the frozen drifts until he found himself peering upward through the frozen branches of a particularly thick tree. "Aiye, chica, you certainly pick some interesting locations to brood, eh?" But this was no idle thinking place; from the way she was clutching herself, it was obvious that she was wounded. Then again, what did he care? Their last encounter had been...well, less than charming. He'd been amused, certainly, but the undead girl wasn't the most cooperative of people.

"...You need some help?" The Spaniard unexpectedly offered, tilting his head lazily to better keep her in sight. He wasn't heartless, after all. "Sitting up in that tree'll only make you bleed out faster, chica." Could a zombie bleed to death? He didn't know.

What was this? She skidded to a halt as two distinct signals unexpectedly infiltrated her perception, tilting her head sharply. Certainly they didn't belong to that strange boy, not unless he could make two of himself! "Hmm...They could play, yes...What fun! He'll need all the help he can get, that naughty boy!" Majora laughed, her eyes gleaming once more as she unleashed another surge of power towards the newcomers. Oh, true, she was nowhere close enough that she could see them...but they'd be sucked into her little illusion, just wait! They wouldn't be able to resist!

Another pulse of the unknown power made Soul-Lexis tremor as if he was splashed with water. What was that crazy femme up to? Was this all her doing, being that it came from her direction? Arrowed brow twitched in debate to this peculiar game. No way could that wench have an awesomer power than himself. Just NO WAY! Bristling his three tails, Soul gurgled an aggitated pout, stomping his paw with a poof and he was gone. Another poof indicated his new location, hanging lamely on a tree branch before slipping and falling to the ground. "Ooph!" Quick to stand, Soul dusted himself off and scanned around. Where was that Majora now? He must inquire her further of this odd talent of hers...

If someone of pulsing blood was bothered by the weather, than the female of no pulse was certainly not happy with the temperature. Fur-lined sleeves ruffled into a better fit to keep wind away, and Setsu kept to her curled rest against the tree. Were she in better condition, she'd relocate herself away from the shaded slope of the mountain. But aside from that, the individual she'd need to find resided on this very mountain. So that canceled off such plans.

Eyes slid open lazily, not paying any attention to her surroundings. But there was a foreign scent in the air, and she couldn't help but afford a chuckle to her irony of luck. What unexpected company, but compared to her recent run in with Grim, the Spaniard was like a blessing. A familiar face if anything. She leaned to the side and glanced downward as the voice reached her ears, one brow liftly lightly. Brooding, was she? Perhaps. "Have any better locations then?" There was no scoff in her voice; there was no need for it. She sent a half-smirk to the other before leaning back upright. She didn't feel like falling off a tree at this moment.

Ears had to twitch in a double-take when Luis spoke up again. Was that a humorous prank on his part? Setsu peered down curiously to her injury, finding the blood had already stopped leeking. But that hardly meant anything for what the scientist would be required to do. "That....would be appreciated." The kitsu moved from her reclined seat before pausing shortly and glancing around. What was that? Had she just mistaken dizziness for something else? Couldn't be.

The sight of her pretty face peeking over the icy limb of the branch was more than enough to earn a small grin from the Spaniard. She'd done a number on herself, mm? "Some place warm, for one." He responded smoothly, his tone light and almost playful. Setsu vanished from sight once more and he briefly wondered if she'd dismissed his presence. No skin off his nose if he moved on, but...Well, it was painfully obvious that she wasn't doing so good. Could she really afford to carry on without help?

A faint smile flickered again across his face at her words and he absently brushed silky strands of hair out of his eyes with a paw. "Can you get down by yourself?" If needed, he figured he could probably scale his way up there and do what he could to help. "Looks like a pretty memento, from what I can see. How'd you get it?" Came the idle question before the Spaniard went rigid. Rippling waves of confusion had unexpectedly descended on him, and the male shook his head fiercely. What the hell had that been? He wasn't one to get dizzy...

Without warning, the snow around him began to shiver, rippling placidly like water. It brushed against his feet, quivering, trembling, beginning to build upon itself as the dull-white substance began to rear upwards like an enormous wave. His ears promptly pinned themselves back against his skull as Luis tilted his head back, watching with disbelief as the tsunami of frozen water continued to grow higher and higher. "Son of a--"

Luis leapt for the tree trunk just as the wave roared and collapsed, his paws hastily scrabbling against the bark as he hauled himself upwards. The snow smashed into his body, claws ripping jagged lines into the tree even as he managed to keep himself attached. A few more strains of effort and the Spaniard had gotten himself higher up with Setsu, panting softly with effort. "What the hell was that, eh?" He demanded, trembling slightly from the adrenaline while he offered her an imploring glance.

No fair, no fair! He'd cheated and gotten away! Somehow though, the chaotic creature was delighted though, knowing it'd mean more time to play. Seated quietly in the snow, her eyes glowed softly, writhing strands of her crimson mane flitting here and there. With a simple touch of her mind, she directed the illusion to change once more. Now the tree branches themselves would begin curling with silent menace towards the two seated upon them, as though threatening to batter them into the swirling snows below.

"Hee hee!" Majora tittered softly, now returning her attention to Soul. "Come out, come out, wherever you aaaaare~!" She sang, the note breaking off into a throaty screech. Wasn't she supposed to be seeking him? Well, no matter! If the trees didn't get him, then the snow would surely make him sweat a little!
PostPosted: Sun Feb 17, 2008 5:44 pm

Some place warmer? That wasn't much a specific answer, but one none-the-less. Although a place of warmth wasn't too likely with the range of the snowy mountain around them. Tail tips were moving tensely as she shifted on the limb, flicking down some snow powder as she moved. "Eh." She wouldn't say just yet as to whether or not she could get down. But surely if she had scaled up this height, she could easily hop down. Yeah, right.

Ears rotated forward and back to his mention of her wound. She wasn't used to talking about her own health conditions so poorly, and was hesitant to even reply. But that concern was shook from her mind with the jolting vibration from seemingly nowhere. What was that? Her attention had been so focused on locating the source of the pulse waves, she forgot herself and the spaniard on ground below. That is until the quivers settled right under them, and with eyes narrowed she looked down to the tree's base area. The snow was...moving? The femme watched mutely as the white substance gathered, and the back of her mind clicked, recognizing this technique. It was near similiar to the ones she used upon sand. "Sera." Front paws clenched, Setsu pinned her ears as the wave formed strong and fast and she darted her vision towards the other kitsu.

Three tails curled as securely as possible around her own branch, the undead wincing at the pang in her side as she stretched down in a lean. A single front paw clenched into the male's collar and vest, helping him steady against the torrent of icy snow. Once the other was firmly on the same branch, she relinqued her hold, backstepping with a hesitant air. "I don't know what that was. But an individual is certainly manipulating it..." Ears perked as the tree seemed to groan, and the kitsu cautious for what other tricks might make appearance.

There! It was that annoying and giggly laugh of that wierdo (but daunting) female he had seen earlier! Soul pouted and stomped his way over in her direction, intending to scold the hell out of her. There was no reason, none at all, why a female should hold such creative power in that it made Soul feel, well, inferior. Challenged. He'd only allow such displays from other males. And with that set logic, Soul caught sight of the cooky female, and was quick to jab a claw in her direction. "Listen you! Now this game was all good and fun in the beginning, but now? Good crap! You never told me you had powers!" Gasp, was this...jealousy? Preposterous! Tails seethed behind him as he blindly ignored the changes of his surroundings.

The Spaniard shook his head, bits of snowflakes still clinging to his dark hair like stubborn jewels. She'd helped him, huh...? Dark eyes appraised her softly and perhaps with a newly found bit of respect, though it was clear he was listening to her words. "How can you tell?" He questioned, going stiff at the sudden moan from the tree beneath them. "That doesn't sound friendly." Came the murmur before the branch underneath them seemed to buck. Growling, Luis sank his nails a bit deeper into the wood, attempting to keep himself steady. "You think one person is doing all of this?!" It seemed entirely out of the question, but he'd seen worse.

His ears bolted upright at the distant sound of a cackling giggle, instantly beginning to search for the source as best he could. It wouldn't do him any good to fall off and land straight in that snow again. Not if it was gonna tear him to pieces... "Aiye-yi-yi." With Setsu being wounded, there was no way she could handle this for long, nor even leap from tree to tree without injuring herself. Not good.

"The hell are you doing?" Luis called out, his tone harsh and biting. "You trying to kill someone, eh? Can't expect someone not to return the favor!" The writhing tree stilled so suddenly that he nearly toppled off, jerking to keep himself upright. With a sharp glance at Setsu to make sure sh was all right, the Spaniard leaned a little to peer. Looked like some horrendous splash of color off in the distance, but...someone was there.

It was a combination of Soul's arrival and the strangely foreign accent that had given her pause. That was certainly new... "Hee...You want to try and kill me?" She called back, her reply silky and teasing. "That sounds like a fun game...Eh?" With glowing eyes, she looked back at Soul, tilting her head mildly and looking rather innocent. "Tee hee hee! You never asked, you silly, stupid boy!" Majora reprimanded him with a grin, her writhing mane unfurling to frame her colorful face. "Ahahaha, did you think you were the only one who could play? No! I can play much, much better..."

Without warning, the tips of her tentacles burst into flame, the flesh quickly catching until her head was surrouned by a fiery halo. "You like to play, huh? Well...Let's play a new game." Majora spoke softly, her face cast into shadow except for her smoldering, bulging gaze. "They want to play, too...Let's have some fun!" Whipping her head away from him, Majora let out a high-pitched cry, her hair seeming to flick forward so searing blasts of flame could roar forth. They flashed through the forest, expertly avoiding trees until they slammed into the base of the one that kept the two little birdies, instantly setting it alight. "Tee hee! Let's see if they can fly, the poor birdies! Fly, fly, or you'll get roaaaasted!"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 17, 2008 8:06 pm

Who was that? Soul-Lexis canted his head side to side in repetition, trying to find a face for the sudden stranger's voice. There were others nearby? Black and slashed face was perplexed to the words being delt, absolutely clueless as to what was going on, let alone if they were even talking to them. Maybe the earthquaking had done more than disturb the ground?

Head whipped back to Majora with a gasping complaint, clearly hearing the word stupid. "You can't do anything better, you..." Jaw dropped incredibly low as a spark blazed into life around the femme's face, making her near identical to a demon. Soul leapt back in a pounce, paws withdrawn behind him in stunned fear of catching fire. A...another game she said?!? He jumped as bolts of flame shot out from the kitsu, watching as they swam through the woods. And in that moment....he bolted. Tail tucked and arms flailing. Better the other distract the female than himself for her sick games.
"You psychotic bi---!" DX' He was too blind sighted to even think of poofing right now...

Claws dug into the bark as it jolted beneath them, tails holding tighter around the branch. "I can't be one-hundred percent, with this kitsu world. But it's something that's taking some control to operate." If they were lucky, it was only one individual to bother with. Eyes turned almost sedately to the sound of a distant voice, before ears pinned to a nearer voice throwing insults. Skeptical eyes swept to the male, lip twitching an inch as she spoke dryly. "Are you nuts? And how do you plan to defend against our attacker, let alone attack them?" She'd rather not argue that right now, so sighed emptily as she peered to the snow below. Plant and water manipulation, that was double her own abilities..

A natural light caught the corner of her eye, and she peeked past her indigo hair to inspect the source. The warm glow and flickering life gave no doubt to what it was. Setsu clenched her jaw as she stood fuller. "Good crap, can it get any better today? Honestly." Eyes narrowed as the flames were turned into predators, directing perfectly and violently in their direction. It took only a second for the flames to lick the bark and claim it as it's base and their trap.

"Any suggestions?" Even for moments like this, she couldn't help her voice staying monotone. Another symptom of being undead, like a never-ending facade of calmness, despite her anxious nerves. Her left paw darted to the trunk of the tree, using it as stability as she focused with a tense brow. If she tried hard and fast enough...perhaps she could use the moistened earth to plaster and seal against the fire. Maybe..

Ah! He was trying to run away?! Majora pulled her lips back angrily, then, with a loud sigh, made to alter the forest once more. She popped in front of Soul-Lexis, attempting to plant a paw right on his forehead to make him stop. "You aren't very clever." She cackled, shaking her head pitingly at him before gesturing at the burning tree. "It's just like what you can do, boy! Only better! It's all just one big trick, see...? Your eyes aren't as good as mine, tee hee!" Yes, this was all one big nasty illusion.

"What's the matter, boy? I thought you wanted to play! Don't tell me you're scared now, eee hee!" She let the flames roar even higher before a sharp toss of her head had them swallowing up the unfortunate duo, cackling long and loud until she fell silent. Eyes glittering, she listened for a moment or two, then grinned. "That should be enough!" With that, the flames were gone--and the tree stood peacefully, whole and untouched as though nothing had ever happened.

"You said it's just one guy maybe, eh? If their concentration's broken, then that hsould buy you some time. Unless, chica, you're telling me you're in a condition to move?" An almost playful grin snaked across the Spaniard's face--and promptly vanished when the tree beneath them burst into flames. "Oh for the love of--" Swearing heatedly in both English and Spaniash, the male skirted back towards Setsu. This was bad. Their only chance was to escape into another tree, but the female hardly looked like she could even get to her feet and walk, in her current state.

Suggestions? Oh, that was rich. "Death by fire, crushed by snow." He responded casually, dark eyes narrowed and crackling from the heated glow of the flames as he watched their progress. We need to get out of here." He'd rather risk the snow than let them stay and be slowly cooked to death. "You should be able to--"

Like a gaping, hungry maw, the holocaust suddenly roared underneath their feet and Luis knew nothing more. Searing heat, pressing all up against his body, making him dizzy, sick, blind....and then the cool, frozen breeze was wafting pleasantly against his skin. Dark eyes shot open, nostrils flared for the scent of burning hair and charred flesh, but there was only the clean, crisp scent of pine. Uncertainly taking a seat so he didn't topple out of the tree in his confusion, Luis shook his head and glanced at Setsu. "...Tell me I didn't just imagine all of that."
