I keep noticing this, just have to bring it up.
Have you ever been randomly walking along, and all of a sudden realize you're roll-stepping, even though you're not marching?
Happens quite often for me. I also march backwards whenever I walk backwards, and when I turn forwards again, I start roll-stepping. x.x
This happen to anyone else?

This topic would be intended for people who know what I mean. If you don't know what I mean because you don't use the same style then don't bother posting. -.-

Backwards roll-stepping is how I always walked backwards, so that hasn't been a problem for me.
But yeah, I do that all the time. It gets bad when you find yourself in step with friends who are also roll-stepping, and then you singing some part of some show you've all marched and then march down the hall to it.
@Durrtyboi: roll-stepping is just another technique of marching. It's a really controlled and smooth step. You basically roll your foot, placing your heel on the ground first and then rolling through until it comes up. Think a tube of toothpaste. Kinda.

I roll step almost all the time, sometimes intentionally, most times not. After a few years it's just a habit I've picked up.

I can't move backwards without marching...
And I find it amusing. I roll-step sometimes when I'm not thinking about it, like when I'm walking in the mall. This one always makes me laugh, because my band director uses the term "mall walking" to describe how people normally walk and "marching" to describe marching, of course. I think it's funny I march in the mall...

All the time! Like WickedSong said, I'll just be walking in the mall, then suddenly realize that I'm in perfect step with my friends and we're all roll-stepping. XD I also do it on purpose whenever I have to carry food. Or while I'm walking and drinking.

We started marching cavies style for our '07 show. But in '06 we marched glassmen straight leg style. And yes I do roll-step all the time.
