For over a millennium wars had ravaged the 7 continents of the world until finally only 3 were left standing: Neo-America, The Eastern Faction, and the United European Armada (U.E.A.). What follows are the accounts of those whose lives will forever be intertwined with the bloodshed and chaos that continues to tear apart the world…

Sonnets Of The Three Kingdoms is a massive multiplayer roleplay I have developed based upon a plot that I have created for a graphic novel of the same title that I am penning this summer 2008. There are no limits to the amount of people who can join this roleplay and it is a free-roaming sandbox roleplay where ANYONE can go ANYWHERE and do ANYTHING, but each of your actions and decisions that you make will influence the flow of the main story arc, may it be of a minor effect or even be of a grand scale. I really hope that you enjoy Sonnets Of The Three Kingdoms and that you have a great time living out your alter-ego in this world!

I. Introduction
----------------------------------------
…Echoes of the battlefield…
Year 2321, the three remaining kingdoms of Earth had finally agreed upon an uneasy truce, claiming to use their resources instead to help out those ravaged by the wars that for so long have destroyed so many lives within the realms that surrounded them. Lyander the III, sole ruler of the United European Armada appears to be keeping up with the truce, using his family’s vast riches and acquired resources to fund the reconstruction of his neighbouring countries, even stretching his hand to his Eastern neighbours as he sent them a steady source of food supply and metal ores which had been a very rare commodity in recent years. The Eastern Faction though, the hardest hit out of all three kingdoms are instead preparing themselves secretly for another onslaught that they know (or think they know…) for sure will come soon. Having experienced treachery before from their betrayal by Neo-America, they have since then learned to become untrusting of anyone else, trusting no written pact or agreement.
But in the far west, espionage reports have been suggested that the all-powerful Neo-America are developing a new weapon, said to have the ability to change the face of modern warfare…

II. Character Profiles/Lists
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
...A tale of souls and swords, forever retold...
Protagonist(s):
Gaia Username: POD_AngelOfDestruction Full Character Name: Ryosuke "Ryo" Miura Level: 20 Age: 18 Gender: Male Height: 6'1" Weight: 229 lbs Ethnicity: Japanese Faction: Eastern Faction Appearance:
Tall for an average Japanese, Ryosuke stands at a height of 6'1", sporting very broad, muscular shoulders and a thickly defined torso. He was in every sense athletic, having been trained strenuously for years and years since he was of the age of 5. He had blackish brown eyes and long black hair just like any Japanese, which he always wore in a long messy ponytail. Being a vagabond, he always appears somewhat "dirty" and bedraggled, always unshaven and without any form of shirt on, for Ryosuke thinks that if you have a great build just like his, you have every right to flaunt it. He also has a distinct scar upon the upper right chest muscle. It was a gunshot wound, inflicted by the famous Japanese musket rifle wielder Yamato, whom Ryosuke had defeated in a duel at the cost of getting himself shot and almost dying from severe bloodloss.
Personality: Quite laid back and easy-going, Ryo has never been known to rush into anything without thinking. He was always known to play it "cool", biding his time before he makes any move. This is probably why Ryo had never lost a duel before, always taking his time as he lets his opponent expose their weakness before he strikes.
Skills and Talents: A student of the sword, Ryo was among the diminishing few in Japan to favor the blade over the modern weapon of choice, the gun. Having been a student since he was the tender age of 5, he had since become the master of Iado, the art of unsheathing the sword. It was a style developed to battle those who wielded guns, using speed and agility to get close enough to their opponent to cut them down with the sword, unleashing a powerful slash as they unsheathe their sword on the enemy. Besides being a master swordsman, Ryosuke is also a famed master cook and a very notorious ladykiller. It was said that he managed to charm even the 1st daughter of the Japanese emperor, having a short but very sweet affair with the young princess before she was engaged to be married. It was also said that Ryosuke's famous sword, "Sky Piercer" was a gift from the princess for being the best lover she ever had.
Biography: Raised in a farmland just outside of Miyako, Ryo was the son of a farmer and a rancher's daughter. Throughout his childhood he dreamed of serving the Japanese Armada, thus running away to join the Shinano sword prefecture at his 5th birthday. From then on he devoted his life to the mastery of the sword, pushing both his body and mind to the limit as he practiced every waking second he has.

III. The World
----------------------------------------
CLICK THE CITY NAMES FOR PICS
----------------------------------------
The Eastern Faction Kingdom:
Miyako, Japan Once a small fishing village, it became the headquarters and stronghold of the Japanese legions of the Eastern Faction. Housing almost a 300 million swordsmen and their families, the island is fortified with heavy anti-aircraft turrets and hidden heavy machine-gun nests concealed by thick forest vegetation that surrounded the main castle located at the center of the island.
Oolong, China Another asian stronghold of the Eastern Faction, it was aptly named oolong or golden turtle in chinese for it was said that the island is actually a giant golden turtle, thus explaining the massive amounts of gold that laden the caves and lands of the city. Though it is in fact an asian nation, it enjoys a semi-neutral status, Oolong being among the only remaining source of gold ore in the whole world, thus it became very important that the island was to be left untouched by war. Apparently this importance given to them by the 3 kingdoms made the citizens of Oolong very proud.......
Prichata, India Among the last of the Indian cities to survive the Wars, it is heavily protected by the Buddhist nations of the Eastern Faction due to the fact that it was said that the city holds the ancient deiti's remains, the tomb of Buddha is supposedly located right upon the center of the city. But due to it's very strategic location, numerous heavy skirmishes were sent by both the UAE and Neo-America to conquer the tiny city, thus laying waste on almost everything that ever stood in the once grandiose Prichata. It was also said that somewhere within the ruins of the city, a small group of people have been seen practicing magic.......
----------------------------------------
The U.E.A. (United European Armada)
Rotterdam, New Netherlands This once poor and largely ignored city have became the main battleship-building and engineering nation for the United European Armada. It was a machine city of sorts, in recent years prospering and becoming the central hub for major repairs and build orders for anything mechanical: ships, planes, vehicles, anything. But now rumors are circulating that it sent a few select elite engineers to Neo-America to help build their supposed superweapon.....
Glasgow, Scotland Home of the finest ale in the whole U.E.A. probably even the whole world, and also home to the fiercest and the best fighters, mercenaries and soldiers the U.E.A. ever had. Though reputed for their fierce loyalty to their Kingdom, they are extremely loose about their policies over foreigners visiting their land. In fact, sometimes they welcome them with open arms, especially refugees......
Hunedoara, Transylvania A very dark and mysterious city made up of small farm villages, protected and isolated by steep mountain ridges that encircle Hunedoara. Nothing much is known about the place, except for the fact that some of the best magicians and occult experts have hailed from the tiny city...some even say that they pratice witchcraft and even necromancy but no one has ever dared to launch a full investigation if Hunedoara does indeed practice the forbidden dark arts.......
London, England Main U.E.A. headquarters and also the hometown of U.E.A's ruler, Lyander the III. Heavily guarded and reputedly impregnable, it remains the only untouched soil in Europe. No battle has ever scorched the historic city, leaving all of its full glory and majesty intact for over 2 millenia.
----------------------------------------
Neo-America
Basin City, Washington (Lower Basin & Upper Basin) A normal American city by the first look...not really. It is a city divided by class, the rich and the poor. Separated not only by the obvious differences in their lifestyle but also by a solid iron 'wall' (A 40 feet high, 24 feet wide chainlinked fence), tightly guarded by probably the last remains of the US army. The "rich" side carried on with their lives as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening, as if life was just exactly the same before the Wars happened; the poor side however, riots and bloodshed are the norm for their everyday lives.
Anchorage, Alaska A small island city turned into a missile defense silo. Nothing else can be said about Anchorage, for it is just like a massive missile turret, used to launch Neo-America's famed and very deadly Tomahawk guided missiles.
*More cities and countries to be added as the story progresses...*
*You are free to make up any small towns and villages for a setting! =D*

VI. The Battle System (Version 2) BETA
From the plot description itself you can already tell that the character(s) will be definitely involved in duels, ambushes and even major battles throughout the story. Players can freely challenge any NPC's (played of course by me) or characters into a deathmatch (YES NPC CHARACTERS WILL DIE! With the exception of course of major NPC's that I deem are too heavily involved and important in the story to just kill off out of nowhere...) or just for a friendly practice sparring competition.
The Battle System I am implementing was intended to keep fights fair and even for every roleplayer. Who can really stop "godmodding" right? I mean I myself feel the tendency to always make the fights go into my favour BUT for the sake of making fight scenes in Sonnets Of The Three Kingdoms both interesting to both watch (or read) and be involved in, I will be using the DICE ROLL feature of GAIA:
-Battle Rules-
First, in a fight scene, no action is a definitive. What you type as an attack (A punch, kick, a fireball magic attack) is not what happens (YOU ARE NOT GOD OF THE 3 KINGDOMS!) but instead you must type it in as an attempt, an intention of what you are trying to accomplish with your attack (let's say you don't want to kill the NPC, you just want to cripple them with a stab on the leg). Here are examples of what I'm talking about:
RIGHT: "Lyria leaped out of the ninja's swordthrust, only to unsheathe her own sword and reply back with her own stab, aiming for the assassin's heart...."
WRONG: "Lyria leaped out of the ninja's swordthrust, only to unsheathe her own sword and reply back with her own stab, aiming for the assassin's heart. SHE ENDED UP IMPALING THE NINJA, THE ASSASSIN FLAILING LIKE A PIKED FISH ON HER BLADE..."
*DO NOT I REPEAT TYPE AN ABSOLUTE ACTION, OR YOU WILL BE BLACKLISTED*
Now that you know the right way of "attempting" an attack, now you need to know how you can tell if your attempt would be successful or not. This is where the DICE ROLL feature comes along ladies and gentlemen.
The default dice used to roll will vary when it comes to the type of weapon the character is using in the said attempted attack.
Melee Weapons (Swords, knives, spears...): 8-sided dice Ranged Weapons (Arrows, throwing knives...): 10-sided dice Guns (Rifles, muskets, machine guns): 20-sided dice
For an attack to be succesful, it must be above a 70% of the max number you can attain on the dice you used. Example of a successful dice roll:
 POD_AngelOfDestruction rolled 1 8-sided dice: 5 Total: 5 ( 1-8 )
"Lyria leaped out of the ninja's swordthrust, only to unsheathe her own sword and reply back with her own stab, aiming for the assassin's heart...."
If a dice roll attempt was successful (or a a massive failure), the character who was the target of that successful attack must react to the "hit":
The ninja, completely distracted as more soldiers poured in to help Lyria, did not see her blade sliding out its scabbard, much less when Lyria plunged the blade on the assassin's chest...
BUT WHAT IF THE ATTACK RATIO WAS BELOW 70%?
Then that means that the attack was unsuccessful therefore the opponent must react to it as if they either dodged, shielded or plain simply the attack completely missed. Be realistic on your reactions though, none of the anime stuff where someone slices a missile in half with a sword blah blah blah.........
BUT WAIT MISTER? HOW CAN ANYONE DETERMINE IF THE SUCCESSFUL ATTACK WAS A KILLING BLOW OR AN ULTIMATE FINISHING MOVE?!
Well this is where the percentage of the dice roll number you have attained comes into play once more. A 90%-100% percentage is ALWAYS a killing or finishing blow, the opponent must always acknowledge that through their next reaction such as lying on the ground paralyzed or bowing in defeat and surrendering to the attacker.
------------------------------------------------------------
VII. The Level System
Now you are probably asking, hell so this means if I challenged an oober huge character with my extremely fragile, teenie bitty character then I can beat him out of sheer luck yes? And yes just like in real life you can beat a big guy up just by chance BUT it'll be slim, and slimmer even more depending upon the differences of your strength, just like in the world of Sonnets Of The Three Kingdoms.
Each character sent (even NPC's) will be assessed by me, and be assigned a random level number generated by the Gaia Number Generator. I alone will assigns levels so what I say goes, and I will keep it realistically based upon how strong I really see your character is. The max character level would be of Lvl. 20 and the least would be Lvl. 1 (For REALLY scrawny characters).
WHAT THE HELL ARE THE LEVELS AND THE LEVEL SYSTEM FOR?!
What for? Well it will be used to determine how many times you roll the dice to attack that character when you enter a fight with them, that is. Let me use this simple example:
Ryosuke ( Lvl. 20 ) > Raphael ( Lvl. 18 ) 20>18 (Level difference is 2)
The level difference between them is 2, so if Raphael's character wanted to attack Ryosuke, he would have to roll 2 dices. And then the Battle System rules apply once more, just like in this example:
Raphael unsheathed his legendary weapon, Queen, thrusting for Ryosuke's legs as he bobbed and weaved out of Raphael's kicks...
 POD_AngelOfDestruction rolled 2 8-sided dice: 5 Total: 10 ( 2-16 )
10/16=0.625>0.70 or 62.5%>70%
THUS the attack failed...
But Raphael missed, Ryo being too quick and agile for the young and unseasoned fencer!
So in shortened terms, the level differences is how many times you roll the dice to get a hit accuracy percentage.
THEN HOW THE F!#$#!ING HELL DO I JACK UP MY PERCENTAGE?
Well my angry friend I, the God of the Three Kingdoms will assess your character development and progression through the story. Let's say you have been roaming around challenging random NPC's and such and such in battles and winning OR you have been involved in a major battle with a main character and WON (Keyword is you get involved in battles and WIN), then I will give you the sign to edit your current combat Lvl.
