Well, I was re-watching the promise scene between Cloud and Tifa, and then I noticed at the end when the camera moves to the sky, a shooting star flys by. :]
Stars and now this shooting star, are a very popular Cloti symbol! So here are just a few things that stars/shoot stars happen to relate to in opinions, and in actual beliefs of some people.
Opinions:
Quote:
The star is a symbol of something much greater than ourselves because it has a connection with the very foundation of life, with the very beginnings of the universe, and how creation actually started. The mystery lies in how light came from darkness. In many traditions there was a blackness, a void, and from this void creation sprang. Stars and suns are widely seen to be part of this moment. The star signals a belief in the ability of something to come from nothing - a belief in miracles. A star is like saying ‘yes’ to life. It is like a positive affirmation, saying that you are always open to the unexpected.

"My Shooting Star" a poem
Was it God drawing a line
With a pencil of light,
To show me how a slice of time,
quickly comes and quickly goes?
Or was the meaning something else,
even more profound?
Or was there nothing meant at all?
Was it God drawing a line
With a pencil of light,
To show me how a slice of time,
quickly comes and quickly goes?
Or was the meaning something else,
even more profound?
Or was there nothing meant at all?
Quote:
a dreamer and someone who thinks wishes can come true.
Myths, Legends, and Beliefs:
Quote:
People often associate shooting stars with good luck and success. To be a "shooting star" is to do really well at something, very quickly.
Quote:
They were thought to be a symbol of a new birth and changes in ones life and also a wish for a better life and this belief still continues to exist although the extent such belief is less then it was earlier. Presently a lot of people seem to be getting them to express their inner desire to be a star. They are read as a symbol of reaching ones ultimate destiny.
Quote:
During the games, a huge comet passed by the sky. Octavian address the crowd and said that was the soul of his uncle Gaius Ceaser being taken to the heavens. Julius Ceaser became a god to the Roman people. People believed that they were seeing a miracle.
Quote:
According to more common belief though, it's a good omen, cause when one makes a wish when one sees a falling star, the wish will come true.
Quote:
t was thought that the gods, overwhelmed with curiosity, would sometimes look at the earth from between the spheres, and that in that instant a star or two might slip through the gap and become visible as a falling or shooting star. Since the gods were clearly peering down at that very moment, it was considered an excellent opportunity to voice one's wishes with the guarantee that the gods would hear them.
Quote:
At one time during a particular bad period of wars that left many people homeless and with few if any family members they would gather and wait for the shower of the shooting stars in the summer to clebrate the fall of evil, but also to begin their journey as to where their lives would take them. The first one you saw, you were to immediately leave and set off in the direction of which you saw it fall. They were guides to a new life.
Feel free to add any additional ideals, and your own thoughts as well! ;D
This is just for fun. I'm not using it to justify Cloti. Necessarily. biggrin D
Oh, and to me... A shooting star symbolizes the validity of a promise, or destiny. The hope that wish will come true. I grew up with the idea that if you saw a shooting star, you could wish on it, and then that wish would come true! Sure, mine never did... but I guess all in all, it symbolizes hope. :]
