I hate that! I want to take a gun and shoot all the cheerleaders that thing they're bette rthan us. All the stupid football players to. They think Their game is hard? They aren't judged on every little step they make or where they go! Sorry...Just blowing steam...As far as Dancing goes....Our Marching Band danced out hearts out during 'September' By Earth, Wind, and Fire. It was awesome!

My town has a LOT of football fans. The band hardly ever gets any attention. The football players and cheerleaders think they are all that, and our band director yelled at them once saying that at least the band is learning some thing that disciplines tham and teaches us skills so we wont have to work in Mc Donalds. It cracked the whole band up! biggrin

Heck, our school's only been open since '03 and the marching band has already got more awards than the football team.

How lame is our team? They won two games all season. Srsly.

Sure, we don't have to march, but we have to have frozen smiles, and perfect timing, not to mention muscle what with all our instruments we have to pull up and down the hill outside our school...

the band parents and the community is very supportive of our high school band and they're always well recieved at competitions and spectaculars, parades and in areas that they travel to. but the majority of the student body and the rest of the teachers could care less.

at my university, hardly anyone supports the band and they community makes fun of us. we're not big and our drill sucks, but we have an okay sound.


ohh well. i like band. that's all that matters.

it doesn't really matter, as long as they keep the programs going.

Our school's football team sucks and they still mock us. Seriously, they won like 4 games. Then the cheerleaders start saying how we suck. I'd like to see them go outside in the middle of the afternoon in 98 degree heat and then march correctly.

Most of the school either makes fun of us or they don't care.

scream scream scream Our band was one of the best of the best but all the kids kept on complaining about how they weren't playing songs like "Pop Lock and Drop It" instead of our beautiful "ESPN" opening song. Our band directors tried to please them sometimes in the stands but they refused to back down on the field. No! Those kids wanted us to stand around and have slut color guard (I mean dancers) waving a flag LITERALLY back and forth and play horribly composed "radio music". However, those kids got their wish when our directors got a promotion and our stupid new princible was on their side. He hired a new director that liked a totally different style of music and marching band. He promised to keep our whole traditions but instead, he ended up tossing them all to the side. scream scream scream

I quit my band class after that. The man had no idea what he was doing. I do still play for other ensambles though...

I don't get this at school functions, because my band doesn't march... But in Fife and Drum Corps, I get this ALL THE DARNED TIME. 1) The fife is shrill, 2) we're stuck playing 18th century songs that no one has heard of 'cept *barfing noise* Yankee Doodle, 3) everyone thinks we're crazy because we're wearing head to toe industrial wool uniforms and can't strip to small clothes (instead of the colorful blue and red Jeust de Corps on top, it's a red coat), 4) when we're stripped to small clothes, EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE REENACTING THE BRITISH THINK WE'RE DARNED BRITISH (I do French and Indian War reenacting, French side), and 5) a fife and drum corps is "so loud that the soldiers can't hear the commands I'm giving." Well, I've got something to say to you: A FIFE AND DRUM CORPS IS SUPPOSED TO BE GIVING THE STUPID COMMANDS FOR YOU, YOU IDIOT OFFICERS!!!!!!!!!
