Hi guys! Since most of you expressed interest in having a Secret Santa event this year, I decided to open up a thread for ideas and suggestions for how we should do it.
I've decided on a basic Secret Santa just like we did last year. The spending price range will be from 5k to 15k. Read on to see an explanation on how this will work, deadlines, a list of participants, and of course wishlists!

:: The Procedure ::Since some of you haven't participated in an AG Secret Santa event before, here's a rundown of how things usually work: 1. Sign up for Secret Santa by posting in this thread. Also, please post a wishlist of things within the 5k - 15k range that you would like to receive. 2. Sign ups are over on Wednesday, December 12th at 11pm. DEADLINE EXTENDED to Thursday, December 13th at 11pm. After sign ups are closed, I will take all participants' names and use a random number generator to assign Santas, which will then be sent out by individual PM the next day (Dec 13th). 3. Participants will then have one week (until Dec. 20th) to buy one or many gifts from their assigned person's wishlist (overall not spending less than 5k or more than 15k), and then send them to my mule hilazilla, who will be distributing them all on the exchange date. If you would like to provide a hint to your person as to who you are, please send the hint by PM to hilazilla. You're also welcome to write your own holiday message to be delivered with the gift. The deadline for both of these is also Dec 20th. 4. On the exchange date (Dec 22nd), I will send all gifts out to their respective recipients (with hints and messages if they were provided). Ok, so I thought I'd start by throwing out the ideas I had: 1. Secret Santa just as we did it last year. To refresh your memory, we had a set spending price range for gift giving. Everyone who entered posted a wishlist of things within that range that they hoped to receive. Each person was then assigned a fellow participant to gift and after buying those gifts, sent them to the organizer (me!). I delivered all of the gifts on the one particular gift-exchange day. - This way is pretty basic. Although it is fun figuring out what to buy your person, there's a lack of mystery as to who sent your gift(s) since they reveal themselves at the end anyway. I wonder if there's a way to fix that...
2. Themed gifts. I'd been browsing through the Gaia Community Projects forum to get ideas and I saw a thread whose Secret Santa event took place over a couple of weeks, and each week had a theme that you were supposed to base your gift around. (ex. Something you got out of the daily chance; Something you don't wear anymore; Something brand new; Something on the person's wishlist.) With each gift a person sends their assigned person, they would also send a hint or two as to who they were so the recipient could actually guess their Santa (ex. My favourite colour is blue; I like playing yo-yo.) - I thought this idea would be kind of neat because themed gifts are always fun (we could make up our own themes rather than using the examples above). We could still have wishlists as a guideline of things we'd like to get, and apply the items within them to the themes. Also, it's fun to leave hints as to who you are! The gifts and hints could be given anonymously through the gift system OR they could be sent out by the organizer. I think it would work fine either way. The only real problem I can see with this idea is lack of number of weeks to have an adequate number of themes to play with. -------------------------- Does anyone else have any suggestions or ideas for the two up there? Any totally brand-new ideas? Please post them here! Also, I had a few other questions to ask you guys: 1. Should I run the event or is there someone else who would like to? 2. What kind of price range are you comfortable with? 3. Do you guys also want to do a lotto like what was done the past two years? If you have any other questions/concerns/whatever, please post them here as well. Hope to hear from everyone who wants to participate!!

I'm also with Skizz on not caring much either way on the mystery. XD I'd be fine with promising not to say, but I also don't mind. I kind of like the reveal at the end, too.
I think the theme idea sounds really neat, though! Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of time for it now that we're already in December, but we do have 4 weekends left before the end of the month, if we wanted to go past Christmas. XD
I'm also up for the lotto plan and I'd be happy to help contribute to the prizes. heart
Oh, and not really the place for it, but since people expressed interest, I intend to get working on a new Christmas-time game like last year. I think I should have it up by the end of the week at the latest.
