http://allafrica.com/stories/200711231223.htmlQuote: Ireland Opposes European Union Support for Legal Abortion Catholic Information Service for Africa (Nairobi) NEWS 23 November 2007 Posted to the web 23 November 2007 Brussels The Irish government has voiced concerns about European Union (EU) support for an international initiative that would promote legal abortion in Africa. At a meeting of European foreign ministers, the Irish delegation questioned an EU statement of support for the Maputo Plan, saying that it would violate an established policy against EU endorsement of abortion in other countries. In a compromise agreement, the European leaders agreed to express support for the Maputo Plan "within the context of EU policies," Catholic World News reports. The "Maputo Plan of Action," a non-binding resolution that was approved by the African Union in January, calls upon African countries to "enact policies and legal frameworks to reduce incidence of unsafe abortion." It also "prepares and implements national plans of action to reduce incidence of unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortion." Sponsors of the plan have interpreted that language as a call for legalizing abortion, the Irish governments said

Yes, my ancestral land official opposes abortion. This is just one more reason why I love that dear hiberna*
Oh for all you who do not know Hiberna means winter place in Latin. It is what the Romans called Ireland.

To be honest, if women are going to have abortions, I'd rather one person dies than two. At the very least, I'd want more sanitary practices and better medicine in general so that if a woman did get an illegal, unsafe abortion, an infection wouldn't necessarily be a death sentence. But if you're reducing unwanted pregnancies, obviously, you're reducing abortions in general. Are there countries in the African Union where abortion is already legal? Wouldn't this mean that they're safer for the women, not necessarily more easily available?

lol illegal abortion deaths.
lol bungie jumping with a 50-foot-too-long-rope
lol self-made stitches made of copper wire
lol 2.8 liter liquor chug
Maybe I have a wierd sense of humor, but people dying doing retarded things to themselves doesn't really bother me.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get crap for this, but I gotta tell you- if you're expecting me to feel anything for someone who makes a series of bad choices and winds up dead, it's not gonna happen.

That's why they have the Darwin Awards. 3nodding Though I will say a woman who attempts to give herself an abortion because she'll be ostracized for having a baby is considerably less funny than a guy who attempts to steal electrical wire... ... without shutting off the current. rofl (I'm not making this up, either--happened in Derbyshire in 1999.)

This is true. I think it's idiotic that people dislike pregnant women. What is so wrong with creating life? What the ******** is wrong with people where it is unnacceptable to have the audacity to have a child? the commercial for juno, where the girl is walking down the street nd everyone stares- ******** them, raze them to the ******** ground. Ignorant shits, it's a ******** new LIFE, not a disease.

reggie _chan I always end up smiling and pregnant ladies. Sometimes I have to stop smiling at their stomachs. You know what's really funny? Fat women that look pregnant but aren't!
Then the awkward question is inevitably asked, and everyone ends up embarassed 3nodding

It just really bothers me when all of these powerful countries try to impose their beliefs onto less powerful countries. They always say that abortion is a person's choice and up to the individual beliefs, but they're not willing to allow other countries in which most of the people hold beliefs that are definitely against abortion, and they want to force abortion onto these countries. It is so hypocritical >.<
