So here's the situation: I've been looking for an apartment on Craig's List, but it's been very frustrating. Several of you know that I live in Los Angeles, and... well, need I say more? I saw the smallest, crappiest, shithole the other day -- and the landlord wanted $900 a month for it. One room.

I tried to ignore the bad taste in my mouth as I started looking through the listings for roommates instead of apartments, because I'm on a budget, dammit!

And I came across this one:
Quote:
I'm looking for someone who is really drama free and easy to leave with. And if your 420-friendly then even better but that's by no means a must. I don't have amyspace page but if you do, you can send it to me and I'll reply with a picture too.
I know my description wasn't very detailed so ask me anything you'd like to know and hopefully we can get together soon and see if we would get along.

Yes, I responded. And I'm still very amused. whee

Me and a friend (who happens to be the person who first got me stoned) are planning on saving a bunch of money (on our car insurance! jk..) up to move out and get an apartment together! (******** YEAH!)

However, i need to save up a lot of money so i don't go broke.. (Which means less weed sad )

But it's going to be fun living with that friend!

Tip: Build up credit. A decent credit rating might mean a smaller deposit. 3nodding

Thanks, you just reminded me of the usefulness of CL.

I had to go post a "420-friendly" ad in the strictly platonic section. Hopefully I can find some local folks to toke with. stressed

rofl I can't help but think that if you don't get much response then it's a sure sign you need to move!

Actually, the post got flagged. rolleyes

It wasn't even a "hay guyz hook me up plz" post. It was a "Hey, I want some local folks to hang out with, and btw, I'm a stoner" post.

Good lord, I hate Delaware. I don't know how anyone lives here WITHOUT wanting to get high.

California is on my list of potential places to go when I can afford to get out of here. Maybe LA, although I think I'd rather go back to NYC ($900 rent for a one-room apartment isn't all that much worse than the average up there - I was paying $550 a month for a crappy, poorly-maintained, illegal basement apartment on the a** end of Brooklyn and that was super-cheap only because I got lucky), or I could move to Canada and get out of this country entirely. Hmm, the most "420-friendly" cities in Canada? What's Toronto like? lol

I saw "420 friendly" in tons of housing ads when I was looking for apartments in Brooklyn, though. Also people looking for "ski buddies" ... which actually took me about ten seconds to figure out that it means people to do coke with. My initial response: "Who skis in Brooklyn? In JUNE? ... Oh. THAT'S what that means."

There's probably a glossary for that sort of thing on UrbanDictionary or something. rofl

Well, you definitely must let me know if you're coming west.

This place is $900 but a one bedroom, so the $450 each is very doable. Unfortunately I wasn't wild about the neighborhood, but then again, I've also seen worse.

But as for Toronto... eh... can't help you there. xd

... First of all, I've never heard the term before. Not in that context, at least. But dammit, blow was the first thought that came to mind when I read that! sweatdrop

... Now I'm just thinking that I'm going to have to make sure to avoid any ads that say "rule 34" anywhere in them. o_O;

Aha.

I'm lucky, the person who i'm hopefully going to move out with (in a few months) is the person who first got me high smile

Our apartment is going to be oh so 420-friendly biggrin

Come to Ohio! We don't have s**t for jobs, but we have cheap rent and pot is pretty much decriminalized. There are tons of good festies, good people, and good ol' homegrown buds. Sure, there's a smoking ban, but we have hookah bars where it's legal (to smoke tobacco, I feel sad even thinking about it), and plenty of bars that don't mind giving you an ashtray. Ohio has plenty of freaks and hippies, since there's not much else to do; we do get a lot of good shows here too.

*sighs* Ah, cheap rent... it's sad when you're splitting a place with three people and still end up paying $800 a month each, and that's for a cheap place, by this city's standards. Doesn't leave much cash on hand for actually having fun, or eating, for that matter.
