Okay, for those who don't know, there's a large series of fires and winds going on in Southern California moving northward, making thousands leave their homes adn coming eastward. My brothers's families have evacuated and one of them is currently living at my house. this started sunday afternoon/lateish adn they came over yesterday evening. If anyone has any information about the people in Cali, the conditions of the homes there or the evacuees, please post what you know. If you have a link to a good site that's active and doesn't just talk about Malibu, post it.
And if you live in Cali, please post so we know you're alright. sad *worried*

My brother also lives in So-Cal but north of the fires (make sense?).
Here's an excerpt of a blog post he wrote:
The worst is in San Diego County. It's spreading from quite a ways inland. One of my co-workers is in Oceanside, and is IMing with me now. They've been asked to stay off the freeways to make room for evacuations. The city of Ramona was evacuated, and now I'm hearing rumors about Escondido and Fallbrook. Oh, she just typed "They're evacuating everyone between the 56 and Del Dios hwy, from the 15 to the 5." That's a huge area just South of Escondido and San Marcos.

I have been fighting with myself about whether or not to call my ex-boyfriend and make sure he is doing alright. xcept I am not really over him, and... yeah... it's hard. So, umm... Fresno is okay, right? Just Southern?

NOTE when I say JUST Southern Cali, I don't mea to minimalize the tragedy. One of my best friends/old roomies lives in SanDiego and she may have to evacuate and I am hoping she will just come stay with ME. I am worried for her and praying for everyone there...
But the dumb girl part of me is ALSO still trying to get over a massive heartbreak and really not wanting to call the Boy unless, you know, he is in danger and then I should anyway.

What I've gathered this morning(if my memory serves me right) from my sister-in-law's convo with her mother: They have one fire completely under control now and the witch and rice fires have joined as one. Where my Bro.'s family live isn't burned up. *cheers* but electricity in the Poway area is completely gone. National guard people are all over the place to keep things in order people wise and the people at the evacuation centers are given free food from popular resteraunts. I think I'd have some fun there. *smacks self* bad girl! Several hundred houses are gone and a good amount of reservares are undrinkable(so boil it). Funnily enough, from my bro's stake, most of the member's houses were untouched while their neighbors were turned to cinders. For evaccuees, I hear the 5 and the 15 are closed, but the 8 is open, or was monday. Our prayers go out to you!
Still, anyone here that lives in cali, leave a note so we don't worry here.

YAY! Heard from my brother still in cali and it looks like his part of Escondido didn't have to be evacuated so he's back home! Air's still weird, but that's about all. He posted this elsewhere. "If you want to keep updated on the fire, you can visit http://www.ci.escondido.ca.us/news/index.html for official news directly relating to Escondido, http://fireblog.signonsandiego.com/ for general news about the wildfires in San Diego County"
