In the Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords they totally took parts off of the episode. They took the whole scene where the Master sings "I Can't Decide" which is probably one of the best parts of the series, the part where the Jones family do the finger sign thing to indicate when to do their plan, they took off the part when they put on the keys and walk down the street, etc.
Why are they taking bits of these off?

you just figured this out?
American shows have more commercial time, so they need to shorten the episodes, you'd think they'd play a disclaimer before the show but no (there's probably something in the credits)
This is another reason why I watch them online a week after airing in Europe.

Dark Lord M They didn't do it with the other ones, just these two. neutral Ugh. Probably because the songs are copyright. Same thing they do with the US broadcast of Doctor Who Confidential on the PBS stations over here.

They've ALWAYS cut the episodes, all the way back to the beginning, with "Rose"! I thought they had learned some subtlety, though. rolleyes I haven't been to the Sci Fi Channel DW forum in a long time, but used to be they would post about it and complain about what scenes or pieces of scenes had been chopped.

Well, for Last Of The Time Lords, the UK version was 51.5 minutes long (they had to get special permission from the BBC to do that), but for overseas territories (which have stricter rules regarding programme length), they had to edit it down to fit in the timeslot.

Because of the commercial cutting here in the US, I can't wait for the boxed set to be out November 3! Have greatly enjoyed the other two sets... no cuts, lots of extras, and DW Confidentials. Woo hoo! xd
