OKay, so I just read on the home page of the guild that we were the first photoshop guild ever established...
And, as the title says, we are probably the worst. It's not anything personal, you all are very nice people. <3
But since we are the first photoshop guild, shouldn't WE be the ones setting examples for all the others, shouldn't WE be the ones that other guilds envy, and most importantly, shouldn't WE be featured on the webpage.
I'm sorry if this comes out all wrong and you all get mad at me, but we are very inactive. And I mean inactive. You had an excuse before, there was nothing to talk about. But now, there are bout 5 more threads to post in with topics that can take you anywhere.
You have an awesome founder who does the best she can to think up of things to talk about, to organize contests for us. And still, still you choose not to post...
I'm Sorry, but...
YOU FAIL.
What is up with you people? =(
<< This is not an angry rant to anybody in particular, and once again, it is not anything personal. I'm just tryin' to make this place a little more active, and forgive me if you take this the wrong way>>
-Please don't ban me for this.-

As much as I agree with you on this issue.. I'm one of the people that hasn't been posting frequently in this guild, so I'm in no position to say anything. XD It's just been hard since I was visiting my girlfriend's the week before, and.. I started college again, so.. @_@ yeah. It's just hard to keep up with some stuff, especially when I'm in 3 pages worth of guilds... not that I even visit half of them anyway.. x_o; LoL. This guild has some more priority than some others, so.. yeah. I hope that I can contribute some more activity here.. Just that at this time, I'm quite caught up on life.. >_>

Of course there will always be the gaians who have extremely busy lives, I am one of them myself...
But there are plenty of people who haven't even bothered to say hello since they joined.
So as long as you post something, you're at least making some kind of effort.
We just need more members that are willing to actually post and not just read the tuts and walk away.

Alrighty then if you're so smart, how would you get this guild active if you were the owner? I've been trying to get people active for a long time. I started contests and no one joined. I started new threads and no one posted. I am aware this guild is inactive but I'm out of ideas on how to make people post. So if you got some genius plan, I'm all ears. Until then, what can we do?

I think that we should start by getting more members.
Looking in the minishops forums and art forums and dropping invites would be nice.
And banning members that haven't posted AT ALL. OR If the mega ban doesn't sound good, a mass PM to all of the members asking them is they really do plan to participate at all in the guild, and if not, ban them.
We might also want to look into featuring more of the current guild member's art on the front page, or have some kind of gallery thread displaying awesome work. ((Contest winner work for instance))
And advertising. I can start advertising via my profile and my other guilds, and maybe some other members would be interested in doing that also?
I've remodeled guilds before, as you probably can tell, so I'm chock full of ideas. It's a lot of hard work, but if you're wiling to make the sacrifice I can certainly help.
ALSO: I would recommend making any willing and active members temporary mods to help you clean out the place, give ideas, etc.
=D

Well i think we are not getting enough members because not everyone has photoshop and it is way to expensive and not everyone knows how to get it for free. If we could tell other people of our guild and how to get photoshop, maybe we will have more people.

I don't think actually telling people how to acquire photoshop illegally is the best idea, but you are definitely right about getting more members.

=D basically all that invloves getting new members. We have 10+ pages of members now. It doesn't matter how many members we have, if someone doesn't post, no one else will. So we need something that will make people post. I tried running contests already, no one participated. I was going to do a artist of the week on the main page, but with only 3 or 4 people posting, we can;t do that either. Which brings me back to 'we need something to make people post'.

True.
Well, we have to make several threads that appeal to everyone.
There are the beginning photoshopers of course, so they might not be so comfortable in posting their work.
I'm working on some tutorials, but they probably won't be up till' this weekend.
If we do come up with new threads, I think the massive PM would be a good idea.
Most guildies have stopped even checking the guild, so I think it would be a good idea to let them know that we are at least masking some effort to change.

I wish there was an option to do that. I really don't want to send a message to each member one at a time. That would take way too long. And I have no one to help me with that. I'm all out of thread ideas, so if you have anything, feel free. I'm considering making another subforum where people can talk about whatever they want. Maybe we can get activity in that department.

Yeah, an offtopic subforum would be nice.
There are lots of words games and such we could bring in.
And yeah, just checked the thread. It's coming November so they say..

That's good. I can notify people then. I'll make an off topic subforum within the next few days.

It's frustrating as hell trying to get people to post. I've had this guild for what, 2 years now? And I feel like I've made no progress. I've tried contests, I've tried inviting people, I've tried new threads, other members have tried adding things to gain activity, but instead of getting activity, we get a few people a month who actually make an effort to post, and a few other people who post one or two things that do nothing but state how dead the guild is instead of trying to help revive it.
I'm not going to give up on this guild... but I'm out of ideas. And I'm SICK of people reminding me how dead the guild is.
/end rant
